Getting people to join is a struggle - even if you have created something that you believe should interest specific groups of people. User interaction is important to any Admin especially if they want to know that they are moving in the right direction. Post before register is a good start, but how about letting guests vote in polls and allow them to rate articles and topics using the star system. This can go a long way to helping admins understand what is and what is not appealing. Getting someone to register just to say that they like or dislike something is never going to happen, but give guests a little more leeway and it might just tempt them to register and take…

Hi, This morning I woke up to find that tens of thousands of spam emails were sent through the "share by email" feature. The support's brilliant suggestion was to disabling that feature. So instead of taking the responsibility to fix or remove a easily abusible feature, it's the customer's responsibility to disable it. Bravo! If the content that is to be shared can be removed and replaced by a spam message, then the feature is clearly broken. If this happens tens of thousands of times, and the system doesn't catch that, then the system is broken too.

Hello, Currently when you have multiple donation goals, they create a massive list both on the donation page and the donation widget. I'd like to have some way of sorting these - categories seem like the right step, as they would allow you to basically link to what would appear as unique pages. Lastly, the same should apply to the donation block. You'd be able to select which category to display, or which specific donation goal - either is fine. What does everyone think?

I have been searching for ways to increase sign-ups and came across ideas like: - restricting guest access (core functionality) - attachments/downloads for members only (core functionality) - guest view limit (app in marketplace) - premium memberships (using commerce, paid or free) What I did not find is: - a function or app/plugin that can truncate posts with the idea to promote sign-ups. This would be less restricting than to ban guest access. - set permissions per post or thread (e.g. for use with forums, blogs). Both two functions are widely used on news websites, e.g. some news are accessible to guests, others not, and/or a teaser is shown to gue…

Im testing the new IPS 4.3 beta, and i stopped elasticsearch on purpose to see what would happen, and View New Content and Search gives no results and i get this error in the logs: Failed to connect to xx.xx.xxx.xxx port 9200: Connection refused. What i suggest is that if something bad happens to our elasticsearch server for some reason, IPS should fallback to Mysql, even if its only for the last 7 days, so View New Content can still work.

Do we know when 4.4.5 will be released? I've been tracking many comments by IPB staff that mention upgrades to improve mobile page speed. At least for me, my mobile performance is abismal compared to desktop. Too many uneeded JavaScript and stylesheets being loaded. Also just a DOM heavy pageload. Small things like the notification sound Js/audio loading when it doesn't need to.

Right now, when selecting "Delete content submitted already" in Spam Prevention > Flagging Spammers, content is immediately deleted. We are wanting instead to have that content moved to the "deleted content" queue that serves as a sort of recycle bin, in the event that someone needs to reverse the action. Please add this as an option, so that our choices aren't only hide or delete instantly. We want to delete in the same fashion as deleting manually as a moderator.

I suggest a default dark theme in addition to the white theme. Everyone is going this way because it doesn't fry your retinas after looking at the screen a long time, and it would make the process of creating dark themes much simpler if there was a good starting point.

Hi Guys - I'd love to use the built-in advertisement functionality, but in order to give up the awesome Google Ad Manager reporting capabilities, I need to give my advertisers some benefits. The ability to work around ad blockers would be a major benefit that they would prefer over reporting (given that IPS has almost zero reporting). However, IPS ads are so easy for ad blockers because css classes such as "class="ipsAdvertisement"" are used. If I edit the code, ad blockers don't block the ads. In order to make this actually work, we'd need the ability to name the class ourselves or somehow have it be randomly created. Without this, it's hard to justify using t…

Hi! I was just hoping to get some insight into this... We have a development blog, and we were hoping to begin importing our Steam announcements into our community blog. However whenever a blog is imported from an external RSS... it doesn't include an image for the thumbnail (which looks very jarring) Does IPS have the ability to set RSS feeds to import an image (or use a default image) for blog thumbnails? If so I think that would help a lot! Thanks for any help!

Just a tiny recommendation, but would be good, in my opinion, if when you click an inline notification the notification count at the top of the screen decrease by 1, since you've already read it inline and clicked it. Or maybe even have a dismiss button on the inline one, to knock the count down, but not go anywhere.

There are a couple of submissions in this forum that touch on this, but I want to address copying ACP settings configurations in its entirety ... a comprehensive XML export / import tool that is available in previous versions and competitor software but not the latest version of IPS. There's something for Themes, but little else is available. The manual labor of upgrading is pretty unnecessary given the lack of this simple solution. Rationale Would allow the admin to export every ACP setting and configuration (some may need to be separate import/export utilities, due to storage diffs, e.g., Menu Manager) Would allow import into another instance Res…

Hi, Currently QA forums have similar approach as StackOverflow. It helps much if comes to real DEV or configuration specific questions and not discussions. However, comparing to StackOverflow the IPB's version misses ability to add comments like in Stack. Why it is so important? To keep answers as clean as possible. We noticed the answers are often used to ask additional questions, where it would be better to add additional clarification questions under specified answer instead as a reply (answer). Hoping you will consider the request, at least as optional option to activate. Thanks.

a prefix topic system would be nice. Where you can customize the color, permissions and where to use. Strange that to get this, you have to pay 42 dollars, there are free cms that do it for free. also why isn't there a native chat?

My community uses messages quite a bit, and sometimes I want to read a message right away but reply later on. It would great if I could mark a message as unread in this scenario so I remember to get back to it after. Just like with email, basically.

I know IPS will never do this, but I write it anyway. Could you redesign the gallery app to look and feel like Redesign the gallery app to look and feel like www.unsplash.com. the Gallery app is clunky slow dated and old fashion. Need a better modern 2020 layout with faster Ajax loading of photos without the ugly Lightbox. example is www.unsplash.com
