Currently I am trying to create a login handler using external database, the problem I am running into is that the username is the salt to the password hash. so the encryptedPassword function needs to also get the username. I'm trying to achieve this by adding the auth value field (read online this was the right value to pass). Currently I am unable to execute print_r or echo functions so I could better analyze which values are set. Hi I raised a support ticket regarding this but havent had any response yet so thought I'd post here to see if anyone has any ideas. I have tried installing the test forum on my site civic5.com (which already runs IPB suite) and I can get through the part for the license key (with the TESTINSTALL on the end of it) but during the installation the process stops on the server details page. It is asking for the database name, but I assumed it would create a new database so that the one used for my live forum would be untouched? It states in the field for the database name that if left blank it will create a new database, but if I leave it blank it just keeps asking …

After a lot of converting, testing and configuring, the site is finally ready to take online and replace the existing old site. I have a revers proxy here, and I can switch over any time. But I have to change the web site name and the license key somewhere. The Settings->License Key screen lets me change the license key, but where do I change the web site name? All the friendlu URL settings use the site name I used for testing, so I am immediately forwared to that address, I want to set the final name of the site. Does anyone know how to do this?

Hello, now we have to think about enabling SSL because Google Chrome starts to show warning messages beginning in Jan 17 for all pages which have a login (PW form). This is the case for almost all forum pages. ? https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2016/10/avoid-not-secure-warn Here in the forum I read a lot of topics about SSL and that it will cause many mixed-content warnings. Normally it should be no problem running the standard pages in http because our forum (and I think most the forums out there) have nothing special which needs encryption. Both sites are 4.2.7, using 4.2 Default theme. Something must be borked in the one site. This one everything is mashed together, the second is contained in nice boxes with space between the records.

I recall someone wrote a guide on this, but for the life of me I can't find it. Does anyone recall the topic that contained a fairly detailed guide on migrating from http to https (it included not only what to do in the adminCP, but also talked about how to migrate google webtools and all the associated stuff to make stuff like adsense etc continue to work).

I am not sure how they are getting thru it has to be a real person is actually registering on the site - no way it could be a bot, but they register, verify, make it thru the security questions and captcha, upload avatar / and background photo and start making posts with scantily clad women offering all sorts of escort or "other" services. any advice?

I do not want to use topic title in url....but i also want old url still to work.... What can be done.... I have a group called Inactive for members who have not visited in some time. I would like to allow them to move to the member group after logging in. I am assuming I would use Member Last Visited setting but neither setting, "Between Dates" or "More than X days" makes scene. Is there no way to move someone to a group this way? I have a rule set up to move someone from Newbies to Members after 1 posting and that works fine, but I don't see how I can accomplish above. Has anyone done this?

We have a usergroup who do not act upon reports, but would like to have visibility into reports should the need arise. I may have missed it, but I can't seem to find an explicit toggle for allowing moderator control panel access, or even to just the report center. Does such a setting exist? If not, how else might one grant access to the report center without any of the functionality typically granted to moderators? Could I do this by basically turning off everything for that group under ACP > Staff > Moderators?

Hi folks, how can I sort defined Tags in the Editor? I have a set of Tags and added one Tag, which shouldn't be sorted at the end, but in between the already defined tags. How can I do this? The answer hopefully is not: Delete all tags, enter them again... Thanks, Thomas

I revisit Pages categories in my site every now and again. It's a great way to relive old holidays. The user experience isn't perfect though; once I've finished an article, the only link at the bottom of the record is to go back to the category. What I'd like to do is go to the next article. Hi All, I need to place some AD after first post of a topic, and I could find that there is a Custom Location built for that - "After the first post in each topic". The problem is that it places the AD in EACH page of topic (after first post in each page), but I need to place it only in 1st page. How to do that ?
