4.2.7 slower than 4.2.6

Featured Replies

Just upgraded the forum to 4.2.7.
My experience is that it's a lot slower now than 4.2.6.

Does anyone else has the same issue?

4.2.7 works fast for me - I have no difference in speed loading site. There is even a slight improvement in performance.
You check for up-to-date versions of your theme and plugins from 3rd Party - it is possible that your delay is one of them. I think version 4.2.7 is a good release.

I disabled all plugins, caches were cleared...no performance difference :(

If you put a link to your site, I can test you and write a few tips.

Ok, but then something has changed after upgrade. Same images.

Images can not be affected by an upgrade. Upgrading, in addition to software changes, removes a cache site. It is possible that your cache images had other parameters.

I am trying to get my head around this how this could have changed.

No. And I doubt there even is a general issue with this version, since it was just a bug fix release. Nothing substantial should have been changed.

But nevertheless, I would say there IS something wrong with your site. I am getting first byte times for well over a second for simple forum pages (listings/topics). That shouldn’t be the case. But it’s impossible to know what the cause might be from just looking the site.

Definitely feeling a slow-down that wasn't there before.

Note: this is not me seeing that the problem is not IPS 4.2.7

Please keep in mind that the software patches for the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities may have also been installed on your servers, either by your host or yourself or your server panel software, and due to them being software patches then there is a possibility that a performance impact could be felt.

Again, this is not me seeing that the problem is not IPS 4.2.7 but just putting this out there for people to keep in mind if/when people dig down in to their pre/post upgrade performance data (if they actually have any for pre/post comparisons)

The slow-down took effect immediately after applying the upgrade, I doubt I timed it that well, but I'll keep it in mind and investigate more thoroughly.

Thanks.

I have logged a support ticket, hopefully they can find out what's causing it.
It used to be click - bam...there's the page...now it's click...wait for it...there it comes...there.

No performance issues here after the upgrade to 4.2.7.

Support couldn't find anything wrong, plus they can't find any slowness on the forum.
Then I suppose it must be a freak incident that my hosting provider must have installed updates that causes the slowdown.
I can't get a comment of them yet (InMotion Hosting).

FWIW, you did actually pretty much to the day post when the spectre/meltdown patches were rolling out

@Adlago Hmm strange, I have disabled the ad for now...can you verify the error is gone?

No error anymore

Weird, maybe something was changed in the add settings? I had the ad at both header and footer...so the error Only one enable_page_level_ads allowed per page triggered me.
Edit: I have changed the settings and re-enabled the ad.

@ChrisVanMeer I totally understand you.

You are comparing 4.2.6 and 4.2.7 as running on same environment. There is no changes what so ever, but you think 4.2.7 is slower...

I constantly check on my board and I can say that I do not see any difference between 2 version .6 and .7

Just to let you guys know...I moved to another hosting provider and now the score at dareboost is 77%.

Plus - what is more important - in my perspective, the performance increased significantly!
