Sorry Matt but i have to disagree,  Once again a feature has been removed because you thought it wasn't useful or seams to read tat way.
My members like to see the number of views on a topics and so do sponsors, its getting a little tiresome where i have to find a why of putting feature back or hope a developers has the time to create a plugin.

Gonna try wrapping this up Thursday. Compact Rating Stars Display option is back in; tackled that this evening.
And yeah, all this stuff is taking a long time. Chalk it up to a lot of things, some of which is in my control, other parts not so much.

I don't like to waste even a few seconds and people tend to forget. Anyway, just a friendly notice to anyone else: edit a template isn't the best way to go, in any situation.

You don't need a plugin to show the number of views in the topic summary. Simply add the following four lines to the theme file forums > topics > activity:
<li class='cTopicOverview__statItem ipsType_center'> <span class='cTopicOverview__statTitle ipsType_light ipsTruncate ipsTruncate_line'>{lang="views"}</span> <span class='cTopicOverview__statValue'>{number="$topic->views" format="short"}</span> </li> Insert the code on line 18, and the number of views will be shown next to the number of replies:

Sorry Matt, but I've seen quite a few instances now where you have tended simply to pronounce that you don't think that something is useful or that it has an undesirable effect and that seems to be the justification removing certain features to the extent of depriving your customers of – Choice

We've been down this road before and you know what I'm talking about.

I don't see what is wrong with providing – Choice – and allowing your customers to decide how they want to run their own forums.

I tend to agree that topic views can be very helpful – and of course it is for forum administrators to decide what they need for their particular community.

I think topic views can be very helpful, especially for the topic starter. We have sponsors that create topics and seeing that metric is very important to them while comparing that to replies. Someone can probably create a plugin for that.

I don't think that number of views is a particularly useful metric and doesn't reflect how beneficial the topic may be.

Also, which guest page caching, the topic view isn't entirely accurate and will only accurately count member (logged in) views.

    Remaining before submission:
    Breadcrumbs
    Edit first posts
    Profile page cover photos
Force the Forums Post Feed Widget to Pull Only First Posts?
Star Ratings, Restore the Moderator Checkbox on First Posts will have to wait for the next version, skipping any js adds for the initial submission.
A few things are dropped due to IPS doing them, somethings just no longer needed, etc.
Some new apps are now a part of  KS:  a minor gallery thing, small downloads tweak, some blogs love.
There is some overall new stuff in places as well, plus improvements.
Let's see what the night brings...

But this is precisely why there is a responsive layout - so that the page looks equally good on different devices and different screen sizes.
But I feel there is a lot of space here that can be saved.

Why are all the elements so huge? This is not a touch screen. Why do you pay so much attention to secondary elements there (highlighted in red), dropping the main content to the bottom of the page? Author / date creation. I wrote about the author and the date of creation here. Follow. Forums with thousands of members and millions of posts, but several people subscribe to topics. It looks something like this: Promote. Who sees this button? Only admins and moderators? So it only looks good to a few people on the forum, but thousands of other members see a huge empty space? Share. Do you have statistics on the use of this button? This button is almost never used by anyone, but you have given it a central place on the page. Seriously? Moderation Actions. Again — so it only looks good to a few people on the forum, but thousands of other members see a huge empty space? Start new topic / Reply. I wrote about it here. One more example on a smartphone:

It looks ugly, it duplicates the same action, it interferes with clicking the "Submit" button.

I do receive the newsletters (I avoid corporate social media as far as possible). Nothing I had read thus far indicated such dramatic under the hood changes to me.
Bottom line for me right now is that I am stuck here on 4.5 and having to use a default theme that I personally think looks awful and I can't find an easy way to change it. Even my premium theme doesn't let me easily make the changes I was used to making.
Just really disappointed in the design aesthetic and the fact that it's so hard to change now.
I suggest that in future it might be advisable to split your communications into categories that deal with the aesthetics changes as well as the functional changes. But then again, we're being forced to upgrade, so even if we don't like what we see in new versions there's not much we can do about it if we want to keep support current.

I appreciate the feedback here. We're listening as always.

My only request is that we keep it polite. We don't need to scream in each other's faces to be heard. If we don't reply or action the feedback immediately, it isn't because we disagree, or are ignoring what you're saying; it's more likely that we need to consider every change as a team and this takes time.

Just to be clear, that’s something I wouldn’t do or encourage someone to do. My post was more to go through marketplace to manual in a resource, with no intention to go back.

bearback reacted to Adriano Faria in CodingJungle's Apps [support topic]
The problem with this, at this point, is that you’ll need to uninstall the current app and then install it manually. Once it is matched with marketplace, you can’t “unmatch”.  Also, once you install it manually, it can’t be matched in the future. So backup is required...

I didn't realize how much space was being utilized until I switched to 4.5. This is kind of a lot I agree 😂
I would love to somehow simplify this so it's about 75% shorter in length. For instance, it says the author and time stamp twice.

This is a complaint I made about IPB before the release of IPB 4.5.  It's really unacceptable in this day and age to have so much wasted space. Things really need to be pulled together tighter with more purpose served to those blank areas. So if there is no description then the white area for example shouldn't be there.

I hate how the postbit also can make empty signatures into a ton of white space if there is a short response. Again, there's no reason for that to happen. Personally I would prefer a more uniform postbit.

4.5 is an improvement, but I think more attention really needs to be paid to the things that stick out. Like how useless profiles have generally become, and all of that white space. As well as the removal of space below a post that is made with too much empty space.

    @Paul E.
Regarding the Report button, what I did here was to add it like a badge. See below, you can steal this idea if you think it looks better ("Denunciar" is "Report" in Portuguese) for your plugin idea:

Here is the code I added at the badge list in forums > front > topics > post:
    {{if $comment->canReportOrRevoke() === TRUE}} <li><strong class='ipsBadge ipsBadge_large ipsBadge_neutral'><a href='{$comment->url('report')}' data-ipsDialog data-ipsDialog-remoteSubmit data-ipsDialog-size='medium' data-ipsDialog-flashMessage='{lang="report_submit_success"}' data-ipsDialog-title="{lang="report_post"}" data-action='reportComment' title='{lang="report_content"}'>{lang="report"}</a></strong></li> {{endif}} I hope I have helped!

I do have a small observation or small critique on this; please don't take this the wrong way but it seems like this could be a big issue moving forward and I hope my voice will be heard here. I mean NO disrespect.
    ---
ACP -> Community -> Forums -> Settings -> disable "Moderation events between posts"
    ---
I feel this option should not be an 'On' or 'Off' option, but rather a "permission set" type of item or perhaps both one to turn it on and another to allow who can see these; allowing me to chose which groups can see it. I feel this particular item is a staff only sort of item and I wish there was a way to only allow my moderators or administrators to see this; guests have no reason to see moderated modifications to posts but staff does. While this option is awesome for staff use, it seems a bit misplaced allowing a visitor to see changes that moderators do.
Please don't take this to heart, I just feel it is a change that needs to be implemented having used the product a long time, love the staff, and company, it comes from a good heart and place.
