andavis reacted to OptimusBain in Our Picks module is not displaying the promoted items
Hello,
Our Picks module is not displaying the promoted items. It's been happening for a few days now. I wanted to report it but I forgot about it. May it be related to the beta version that I am running? I can see the promoted articles in Our Picks URL, but I stopped seeing them in the custom block that has been sitting there for more than a year. It just stopped displaying the promoted items.
See attachment.
What can I do to get them back?
Thanks

Courses is a new, lightweight learning platform designed to help you provide a new learning experience for your members.
Courses are perfect for requiring your community to read and understand documentation and to deliver training and lessons to your community.
Let's take a look at how it works!
Instructor led courses are comprised of separate modules, each containing lessons. New courses are created and managed through the AdminCP under Community. Each course has the option to be assigned one or more instructors. Instructors play a crucial role in developing the course content via the frontend, and they are available to assist members throughout their learning journey in the course.
Courses can be set to be optional, or required meaning members must complete this course before progressing to others. Furthermore, courses tie into Achievement Rules, so you have the ability to grant points and/or badges to a member once they finish a course.
Courses can be free or paid, and comprise of one or more modules, each of which contain multiple sessions and an optional quiz.
Modules and Lessons
Courses wouldn't be much without some lessons! Lessons are grouped into modules, that can have an optional quiz. Quizzes are a great way to verify members' learning progression and understanding.
You have the option to configure modules to be completed sequentially. This pairs nicely with quizzes as you would need to complete the current module before moving on to the next one, ensuring a structured and progressive learning experience!
The lessons themselves are the main content of Courses. Lessons are comprised of the material that students will engage with during their learning journey. Lessons can be designated as optional, so they can be skipped. This is handy when you want to provide organised supplemental information that is not essential.
Managing Enrollments
As an administrator or instructor, you may need to manage course enrolments from time to time. This can involve enrolling a member on their behalf, withdrawing a member from a course, or deleting an enrollment altogether. There are two ways for managing those enrolled in courses, either through the administrative control panel or the course roster on the frontend.
To access the course roster via the frontend - just click on 'View All Members' when on the course homepage.
Course Manager
Managing a course is handled via the frontend. Individuals such as instructors, admins, and other authorized members can create and edit modules, lessons and quizzes for a course. You manage quizzes and lessons from within the module view.
I hope that you have enjoyed this overview of Courses. This is just the beginning, we're already considering various possibilities such as integrating with Live Topics, incorporating discussion sections within a lesson, and enhancing the required courses feature so stay tuned!
The features discussed in this announcement are not available for Invision Community Classic. Click here to learn more about switching to our platform to get this and other benefits.

andavis reacted to CheersnGears in Where is the Past Date Settings for Records?
Thank you @Marc Stridgen, @Matt and the IPS team for getting this update out to fix the date issue. I updated my site last night and was able to schedule embargoed content for 12:01 am.
-
andavis reacted to CheersnGears in Where is the Past Date Settings for Records?
Can confirm. After the latest upgrade, the publish date field is gone.
arg! This is completely unacceptable. I get the reasoning for not wanting to be able to move it to the past with a forum involved, but future posting is a must. I only used the backdating feature occasionally, but being able to schedule content posts is an absolute must. I get embargoed content all the time that I am not allowed to post until some day/hour in the future (usually inconvenient, like 1 am or something) .
Now you're saying I have to give up future content posting if I want comments to be in a forum?
This worked fine for a decade and now you've taken it away.
Please IPS... consult with your users before arbitrarily removing features!

The fix alluded to by my colleague has not been released just yet. Sorry for the confusion. We are aiming for 4.7.3 with this fix.

Just to clarify, Classifieds is still compatible with 4.7.2, just not with PHP 8 and 4.7.2 together?

andavis reacted to CheersnGears in Adsense - Ads.txt file
I'm assuming you are owlsonline.com.
If so, the url owlsonline.com/ads.txt returns a text file with txt that looks quite similar to mine but with a different publisher id, which means as long as your publisher ID matches what you see in your adsense console, you should be fine and you're good to go.

There is no RSS feed for that available at present, unfortunately.

The frontpage with the tabs was a little tricky and we use some custom stuff a regular visitor doesn't notice on first sight too, but with such a great tool like Pages almost everything is possible 👍

You would simply create a new theme by going to ACP -> Customizations -> Themes -> Create New.

This is something that always bothered me. There used to be a plugin that fixed this, created by Matt Mecham (MTM Post Counter a.k.a. MTM Ye Olde Post Count Of Yesteryear), that is no longer available. I edited it to work with 4.5. See below. After installing it, you must clear the cache using the support tool. It is working like a charm here.
MTM_Post_Counter-4.5.xml

Go to Themes in your ACP, then click the big, green "Create New" button in the upper right corner. This will create a new default theme.

Yes, this is possible. Pages database have a Wiki functionality. It doesn’t really work like MediaWiki, but it allows members to work on records together.

andavis reacted to ASTRAPI in Community Guide on Setting Up Wasabi and CloudFlare
Hello
(This is a community guide on how to setup Wasabi and Cloudflare, as a significantly cheaper replacement for Amazon S3 and Cloudfront. The author has no affiliate arrangement with any of the companies listed in the guide and offers the guide as a free community resource. You should consult with your hosting provider and / or server administrator before proceeding with the guide.)
BACKGROUND:
Invision Communities contain rich content, from forum attachments to gallery images to download files. These resources add up over time.
Here are real examples of communities that I provide server administration for:
- Website A: 400 GB of total storage and 1.2 TB of total monthly bandwidth
- Website B: 800 GB of total storage and 14 TB of total bandwidth
Invision Community allows a file storage configuration with Amazon S3 and a content distribution network (CDN) of your choice:
WHAT IS WASABI?
Wasabi Cloud is faster and cheaper than Amazon S3 for object storage, offers unlimited egress for bandwidth, and compatible with Cloudflare. One of the biggest hidden expenses of using Amazon S3 is not the cost of storage itself, but the bandwidth to deliver objects in and out. Wasabi does not charge for egress bandwidth, which can save on the majority of the true cost of Amazon S3. It also provides an S3-compliant interface, which means it can be used as a perfect drop-in replacement for Amazon S3 storage and immediately usable on all Invision Communities.
Wasabi is 80% cheaper and 6x faster than Amazon S3, with 100% data immutability protection, and no data egress fees or API charges. Created by Carbonite co-founders and cloud storage pioneers David Friend and Jeff Flowers, Wasabi is on a mission to commoditize the storage industry. Wasabi is a privately held company based in Boston, MA.
In March of 2018, Wasabi pioneered the cloud storage industry’s first ‘unlimited free egress’ pricing plan. We are excited to join forces with Cloudflare and the Bandwidth Alliance, validating that the early business models of Cloud 1.0 vendors no longer applies in a world that expects unlimited everything. What this means in practice is that you can use Cloudflare services (including the free plan) like blazing-fast DNS, WAF firewall, performance improvements on the fly, and much more. Forums users will request a topic, and all static content can be picked up from Cloudflare's optimized services that will connect to Wasabi.
At the moment, Wasabi offers three Datacenters:
1)US-WEST
2)US-EAST
3)EU-CENTRAL
One price. Lightning fast speed. No hidden fees.
You can check and compare the prices above.
GUIDE:
BEFORE PROCEEDING, PLEASE BACKUP YOUR DATA FIRST!
YOUR FILES WILL BE IN PRIVATE MODE AND WILL NOT BE ACCESSIBLE ON YOUR FORUM !
YOU MUST GET A PAID PLAN TO BE ABLE TO ACTIVATE THE INVISION FILE PERMISSIONS AND GET YOUR FILES ACCESSIBLE AT YOUR FORUMS.
JUST ADD YOUR CREDIT CARD NOW (AT YOUR PROFILE PAGE) AND THEY WILL CHARGE YOU 5,99$ FOR A MONTH FOR 1TB STORAGE AND UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH.
THE FREE TRIAL WILL NOT WORK FOR INVISION !
Step 1: Create a CName at CloudFlare
We start by creating a cname at Cloudflare:
cname -> cdn -> cdn.yourdomain.com.s3.eu-central-1.wasabisys.com <--For Europe datacenter
or
cname -> cdn -> cdn.yourdomain.com.s3.us-west-1.wasabisys.com <--For US-WEST datacenter
or
cname -> cdn -> cdn.yourdomain.com.s3.wasabisys.com <--For US-EAST datacenter
Like this:
Step 2: Create a bucket on Wasabi
First we sign up for a free account at Wasabi Cloud: https://wasabi.com/sign-up/
Then we create a bucket:
It is important to name it as: cdn.yourdomain.com
Then keep default suspend Versioning and Suspend Logging:
Then click CREATE BUCKET:
Step 3: Retrieve your Access Keys
Go to the menu on top left and click Access keys on the left. Click on "Create New Access Key."
Copy / save the access key and the secret key:
Step 4: Setting up a new file storage in ACP
Login to Admin Control Panel and navigate to Overview at the Files category and then click at the right side at Storage settings:
Then we click at Configurations and at the right side at Create New:
We select Amazon s3 and we add the following info:
Save it.
Step 5: Set the new storage at storage settings
Navigate to Storage settings and select from the drop down menu the new Amazon s3 bucket.
Keep only at your server your theme resources:
*Attachments and Downloads doesn't work out of the box as it seems there is some hardcoded code at Invision related to S3...
To make them work you just need to install the addon bellow: (tested with Invision 4.4.4).
Then wait for any Invision background tasks to finish and check.
I hope that you will benefit from this tutorial and get better performance while saving a lot of money 🙂
Enjoy!
OTHER NOTES:
If you are already using S3 then it is very easy to move straight to Wasabi by following the above tutorial as it is NOT needed to move back your files to server and then to Wasabi.
CREDITS
Credits to @Joel R for giving me the motivation to write this tutorial and providing screenshots from his Wasabi account and for editing the topic.
Thank you

We use a CSFR key to prevent bots attempting to log in as you.
Which is specifically what AdSense are trying to do.
I'll speak to the team to see if there's something we can do, but we'd be looking to remove or mitigate protection designed to keep your accounts safe.

Could this be added to make IPS more user friendly on phones?
The scrolling that needs to be done on phone devices is mammoth and there's no easy way up to get back to the top.
Anyone else struggle with this?
The only addon in Marketplace I could find is from 2015 and no longer compatible.
