There is a developer changelog in the forums already, but it's possible not every specific thing has been documented. Feel free to reply to that topic if you find something missing you'd like to see covered.

No, it should not be in IPS. It must be implemented on different level: on your server side. fail2ban is good solution for this kind of bots.

I don't think you fully comprehend what's going on here.... The bot is attempting to access a FILE that lives on your server.  Should that file be found, IPS would be none the wiser because your SERVER would deliver the requested file before IPS knew of the request.  The ONLY reason you're seeing these errors is because the file WAS NOT found and the IPS .htaccess rewrites are funneling the unfulfilled requests into the IPS software.  Where IPS proceeds to log the error you see.
This has to be handled at the SERVER level.  You simply can't ask IPS to manage file access on your server for you when the only reason they are seeing the requests is because they failed in the first place.
Being on a shared host, you're going to be at the mercy of what the hosting company will install on their servers.  This is a common thing that happens every day all day.... If you have a server with SSH open on port 22, you better believe that some bot is attempting to log into it at least once every few seconds.  fail2ban is a wonderful tool there.  What you're experiencing isn't any different.  A bot is attempting, for lack of a better term, to brute force finding files by specific names.  Any backups you take, don't put them in a web-accessible area on the server, and don't leave them there longer than necessary.
Now, these logs are stored in the IPS DB.  You can certainly write your own CRON job that will auto-fill an .htaccess ip deny file to stop these bots at the SERVER level. Because thinking IPS can block them, should the bot guess a valid file name, is simply wrong.  It'd be an extremely false sense of security.

If I could make a suggestion....
If you click on a forum, while in fluid view, don't update the fluid view filter causing you to lose all your previous forum selection settings. Can you instead redirect to that specific forum and jump out of fluid view?  Or just not update the fluid view filter?
Just because I want to see what topics are in say IPS Development Gateway right now doesn't mean I want to have to reset / reselect all of the forums I want to see in fluid view on a daily basis.
Sure, I can click forum view, then select the IPS Development Gateway, but that's not as intuitive.

@TheWorldNewsMedia.org I'm not interested in this topic, or any debate.  Aiming your misguided tone toward me, however, is sorely misplaced. I don't drink the kool aid, and you assuming I do based on a contributor tag is short sighted and, frankly, insulting.
I made it clear IPS could do better with mobile in my comment. They also haven't ignored it. They may not yet have an answer for the feature set your looking for, but they haven't ignored it. The point of my comment, quit with the whining about mobile and do what you need for your community first.
IPS has stated they aren't ignoring mobile, yet for some reason people like yourself keep belaboring on a topic focused on a specific mobile approach, PWA.
Instead, would it not be more constructive to focus on the feature set you're looking for? Mobile, that's a broad topic... What about mobile are you wanting solved? Leave out the HOW, and focus on the specific WHAT you need solved.

The begging and condescending tone, toward IPS, used in these topics is getting quite old. IPS has weighed in briefly on this and still identifies limitations for PWA. And believe me, they read these topics. The core platform has a mobile theme, I use it daily without issue.
Is there room for improvement with mobile, sure... But using a tone that comes off as condescending of IPS and demanding for a very specific solution, to a problem for which you may not have the complete picture, comes off as simply an insult, in my opinion, to IPS.
You want better mobile support for your community? Make it yourself... Create a modified mobile theme tailored toward your community. Take some ownership in solving the problem for yourself rather than for every client that all have differing needs.
It also helps to do your research... IPS had a mobile app at one point in the 3.3.x days, it wasn't successful. I can't answer as to why, but there are still Staff posts and IPS Blog posts about it. I created a summary post some months ago with some of the more relevant information about it.

How do you propose they fix it?
White label app design doesn't work. App stores don't like multiple versions of the same app with different branding being submitted based on which community is using it.
An omnibus "IPS Forum app" that wouldn't allow users to directly monetize their own communities and requires users to go in and find their community and register to it doesn't appeal to a lot of people either, myself included, largely because they'd need to adopt a "one-size" approach. Invision has also noted they've tried app development and it didn't work out for them, so this is all kind of moot.
PWAs are not supported in a form that is beneficial to >50% of mobile traffic and until apple embraces it, it will never be more than a niche technology. I'm not saying apple is this important, it's just that in markets where a lot of us have large forums, our users are predominantly apple/iOS users.
With the current state of things, the mobile responsive skin is overall pretty good. If you don't like it, you can change it to a different mobile design. I think it can be improved based on some new ideas from other mobile forum skins I have used from other platforms (some of what discourse is doing is quite interesting) but it's not like the IPS mobile skin is outside of the top 3 for forum software.
There is a lot of complaining here, but not a lot of direct actionable items. Why not try suggesting specific things that can actually be achieved?

Because creating a mobile app that will require untold amounts of support, for which IPS themselves have already tried and failed once, links earlier in this topic, doesn't really sound fun.
Thought I made that clear earlier when I explained the mobile app history with IPS.
But my point stands... If it's so easy, spin up time to learn the dev side should be simple for anyone. Isn't their slogan something to the effect of "anyone can do it"? You qualify as anyone.

Most are only proficient in php, html, JavaScript, and css. Writing and supporting an app written in objective C and/or Swift is an entire different skill set, never mind the fact that most sites won't use a generic app, they require a white label app.

Aiwa reacted to Lindy in Close / Deactivate Account Automatically
Account deactivation will be coming very shortly, but this is not to be confused with account deletion. There are no immediate plans for an automated deletion system for various reasons outlined in other topics. It's worth noting that the GDPR provides for lawful bases of collection and processing of information. If money has been exchanged, for example, they cannot demand you delete their account and existence provided you have a purpose for retaining it and in the US, we are obligated to maintain financial and legal records. You must, however, outline a retention policy (ours will be forthcoming.) In terms of content, unless a post or other content item contains personally identifiable information such as a physical address, you do NOT have to delete a member's content - it belongs to the community, not the member (and that should be clear in your policy.)
So, the impending account deactivation will disable the profile and effectively archive the account. There will be no way to contact the member, even with an admin override (and no such modifications will be allowed in the marketplace) through the software and they will receive no further communication from the site. This will satisfy requests in which the user wants to leave but cannot be forgotten.
Right to erasure requests for which there's no legal basis for processing (communities where there's no contractual premise) an do require deletion would still need to be processed manually by the admin. Again, there's too much to consider there - hacked accounts, validation, purchase records, etc. for us to comfortably automate without a fairly significant amount of development time, testing and resources and our efforts are better focused on keeping people on your community, not spending weeks developing functionality to allow them to delete themselves with the click of a button.
We'll have more info on GDPR as it relates to IPS and account deactivation soon. Thanks for your patience.

Can't just be my forum where members are hitting enter several times to enlarge the editor, which leaves empty paragraphs at the end of posts. It's now officially taken over as my major annoyance with this software, previous being all links should take you to first unread post grrrrr.
Anyway, IPS Dev Gods, is there not a way the system can automatically detect and remove these on post submit? Or even reintroduce a editor resize tab in the bottom corner.
    Please, pretty please.
