Matt reacted to Cruizin in A call to arms for community leaders
I placed out Corona Virus thread in a section that only logged in members can see. It is a 17 page thread and I am letting people post almost whatever they want to, as long as no arguments break out. So far, this is working out well and allows people to let their fears, frustrations out without tarnishing the rest of the forum.

Hi there,
Community I have years with you we are really all in fear great panic.
If there really is above there is a god who will do everything to save his world, this one that makes it work like a clock.
My most thanks to all the staff Volunteers, Police, Health and other people who are at the forefront of the Virus,
Those researchers fighting against the clock to find a quick cure to the near-deadly virus that has taken thousands and innocent lives.
Without more I hope to return soon to like all of this wonderful community of forums and their staff that make them one of the best forum platforms.
A big hug from Spain ❤️

We've seen some extreme growth on our site due to people being under lockdown and such. We're trying our best to keep everyone sane and entertained, but it is quite hard sometimes. Otherwise we're having just as much fun as our users, whilst keeping them entertained.
Another thing we've done is weaponised the community to using their computers to run the Folding@Home application, by turning it into a bit of a competition where our members can earn points (thanks to "Members Shop" application by @TheJackal84). We set up a team, had our members set up their usernames in the team and so on. To date we've churned through: 22,275,352 F@H credits and 936 Work Units, and everyone is feeling very happy for that. It's a bit of a morale boost to be honest. I highly recommend looking into it if you're a community administrator of your own community. 🙂

Matt reacted to Charles in 4.5: Private staff notes
Using the Member Note in the Warning system without assigning any points or actions is really the same thing. In that case it's just a note.

Looking forward to the 4.5 release and this is just another great feature for it.
I'll probably wait until 4.5 is out and then consider adding more marketplace apps/plugins if necessary.

Topics are the most important thing I guess. But adding staff notes to members profiles would be great too.
Great job Ips. I am very exited for the final release. It is truly number 1 in the forum world.

Why topics only? Or it was just the example?

It’s already in there. Look at the first topic.

Matt got a reaction from GazzaGarratt in 4.5: Zapier Brings Integration with Over 2,000 Web Apps
Yes, once the beta process has finished, we are looking to bring this to downloadable/on-premises licenses.

Matt reacted to jair101 in 4.5: New Post-Installation Onboarding
Looks good for newbies, not very practical for seasoned community owners. What is exciting though is that the frequency of these updates is increasing, so 4.5 shouldn't be that far out 🙂

How about to grab images from first post in the new modern topic list view in 2020?

Matt reacted to Ocean West in 4.5: Forum View Updates
I hope the grid view is more like Our Picks or Blog Grid vs the old forum grid that did a terrible job of truncating most forum names.

Later this year doesn't mean the end of the year. 🙂
We want to beta test it thoroughly before unleashing it for everyone. It should only take a few months.
Note, Zapier will not affect the 4.5 release date which is coming very soon.

Yes exactly, although we have to keep an eye on overlay to image ratio, else it'll look a little congested?
Thinking something like this (or others from the demos on top menu):
WP Plugin - The Grid
And for some nice layout effects, add something like: Packery

This is looking good (no, change that to fantastic)! Quick question, in the grid format with images, are the images clickable or do you still have to click the text to enter the forum? If it's the former (clickable) fantastic, if it's the latter then that is counter intuitive as a natural reaction would be to click the image.
Many thanks for all of these amazing updates - 4.5 is looking to be something special.
