I've always wanted to do that as well but couldn't find an application for it.
I would love to set permissions to read/write/view on specific topics, not only forums.

OptimusBain reacted to opentype in Nexus: Invoices.
    Agreed.
    Minor corrections:
viewing alone doesn’t create an invoice, but starting a checkout.  The invoice should be created at the last step of the checkout when the users clicks “place order”. That’s when the purchase becomes legally binding for both sides. It is NOT necessarily the moment of payment, as there can be payment options like “manual wire transfer”. The invoice wouldn’t be delayed in this case. It still belongs to the moment of the purchase.

Can you please only add invoices to actual purchased items rather than when some views an item.
I have 10 pages of inactive items, of which nearly 99% of invoices are due to people viewing items and not purchasing anything.
If you are not going to change this behaviour, can you at least give some of us the ability to turn off issuing invoices unless a payment is made?
Sorry to go on about this, but it seems like I have been asking about this for a good few years now.

Would it be possible to sell lesson or coaching hours using the calendar?
The trainer would put his available times and days in the calendar and then any member could easily see and then buy.
    thanks

OptimusBain reacted to Davyc in Ability to set Sort By default from the menu
It would be useful to be able to set Sort By defaults from the menu options available - for example:

If I wanted to set 'Highest Rated' as default click it and then have a save button at the bottom - this way it will always be the default when access the page.  Why?  Because not all sort by options are available in the ACP (whether as an oversight or whatever) having the ability to do this would be a boon for everyone wanting to default to a choice of their own.

OptimusBain reacted to Daddy in Stock Replies
I feel stock replies would be a much better feature if you could allow mods and admins to make their own instead of relying on them to be added in the ACP. You should keep the ACP portion to add global replies that are there by default, but a separate section (maybe in account settings) where our team can create their own that only they can see and use would be very helpful.
It would also add more personality to messages so not everyone is using the verbiage so it's not painfully obvious it's a canned response, which isn't a good look IMO.

OptimusBain reacted to Matt in Hump Day: how do you onboard members into your community?
My understanding is that you can send emails related to the service they signed up for. It's when you start sending them adverts for other services that you are on shaky ground.

Sending a sequence of welcome emails and guidance how to use the community is fair, and I cannot see how this would be deemed "illegal".

We work with brands in the EU who have whole departments dedicated to legal and they have no issue with a welcome email sequence.

OptimusBain reacted to Linux-Is-Best in CKEditor 4 end of life - alternative editor consideration
CKEditor 4 is reaching the end of life (source). Instead of jumping onto the CKEditor 5 bandwagon, I propose Invision consider an alternative editor. There are many well-established modern editors such as, for example, TinyMCE, Froala, Quill, and Redactor, to name a few. Any of these would make satisfactory alternatives.

CKEditor may be 'old school,' but it has become bloated, larger in file size and load time.  Most of the issues it encounters often have to do with responsive layouts on a mobile device and excessive load time. As mobile continues to dominate the landscape, I feel it may be prudent to focus on an editor development that has kept up successfully with the times with the least issues.

Changing the editor should not be expected in the next release. But a roadmap should be considered for a future transition.  Thank you for your time and consideration. 😀

It would be nice if you include this feature to [Forums] Saved Actions

    Perhaps off/on button Add tag/prefix.

OptimusBain reacted to AlexWebsites in Member Manual Subscription Upgrades
I am playing around with subscriptions and noticed the following two issues:
Manually added subscribers cannot upgrade their subscription - so if you manually in ACP add a member into a plan, seems they are locked into it and cannot upgrade into a better plan if they so choose in the future. The option does not exist for them on the /subscriptions page.
Removing a manually added member from a subscription does not revert to old member group - if you remove a manually added member from a subscription that moved their user group, removing their subscription does not move them back to the user group they were in before the subscription.

OptimusBain reacted to Markus Jung in Make individual blogs only visible for logged in users
Blogs in my community are public, and I know there is a setting for users to make them private and only allow users on a list to see them.
But some users would like to have a blog that is not public for guests and search engines, but for all users who have logged in.
Can you please add such a setting in a future release? Blogs are an important part of my community, there are more than 1000 of them.
    Thanks,

OptimusBain reacted to Pushpendra Singh Chauhan in Add invisible re CAPTCHA in login form
    Hello Invision Team,
IPS should give an option to add invisible re CAPTCHA in the login form. In countries like India Security agencies don't give the  clearance without this. This is highly recemented by them. I request to provide this in next update.
This is my experience why government agencies avoid to use Invision Community as a CMS for their websites.

When is the final release of 4.7 estimated? I have been running the latest beta for a few weeks and this issue never happened until this morning. Thanks

There is no estimate at this time. As the new week progresses and the beta matures, there will be a better idea but sometime in June is all I can say at this time.

We are aware of an issue with pasting an image causing duplicate images being uploaded. This will be fixed in the final release of 4.7.

OptimusBain reacted to opentype in Emails limited - sendgrid
Thats a common assumption, but I am dealing with this for 20 years and it is not what I have found. In fact, I usually see the opposite! The entry level packages of external mail providers are usually performing badly, because they too combine a huge amount of clients over one IP/mail server and their services are specifically used for low quality mass mailings, so many of the large mail providers actively try to suppress such low quality mailings. A regular webhost on the other hand, which actively manages its mails server reputation (by fighting blacklisting, stopping bad actors et cetera) can – at least in theory – have a better reputation.
The idea “PHP mail bad, external service good” is not true and it doesn’t even have a reasonable foundation. Just look at it from the point of view of the receiving mail server. There is no reason whatsoever why the receiving mail server should give credit to a mail coming from Sendgrid over a mail coming directly from Webhost So-and-so. The legitimacy of the mail isn’t defined by “send over API“ vs. “send via PHP”.

Maybe this is something that can be added in future?

OptimusBain reacted to Davyc in Trim spaces before and after text entry, and remove double line returns
If you missed this in the ACP under Customization>Editor Settings you can choose to start a new paragraph with each return or go to the next line, which will omit that space between.

If this is not what you're after then it needs to move on the IPS team to determine the mitigation 🙂
