Zdeněk Tůma reacted to Lindy in Marketplace Closure
We would like to take this opportunity to inform you of an important decision we've made with regard to the Invision Community Marketplace. After careful evaluation and consideration, we have decided to discontinue the Invision Community Marketplace, effective October 30, 2023.

Over the past several years, we have noticed a decrease in usage of the Marketplace, with a staggering 75% decline in sales. In addition, we have observed a growing trend away from off the shelf customizations towards bespoke tailoring of a community by working more closely with developers. While it has been a platform for many dedicated and talented contributors to share their work, we believe it is time to re-focus our efforts and resources to better serve your present and future needs.

We understand that change can be unsettling, but we are excited to share with you our new direction. We are putting our efforts into enhancing the newly introduced Providers Directory, a platform that will enable you to connect with third-party providers for a wide range of services, including custom development, community management/support, conversion services, and other valuable resources. Additionally, many providers will have independent websites you will be able to visit to explore and obtain existing and new premade resources.

More details are to follow soon, but we would like to highlight a few key points:
         • Marketplace renewals will cease effective immediately
         • New purchases will end September 15, 2023
         • The Marketplace will be removed in the October release and disabled on October 30, 2023
         • You will continue to be able to install and manage existing and new resources via the methods provided by their respective authors
         • You will be able to obtain a key for each of your current Marketplace purchases and provide that key to authors to transfer your purchases directly to the author
We invite you to visit the Providers Directory and start exploring the opportunities it offers. This will allow you to familiarize yourself with the database and the resources it will provide in greater depth. Many of the current Marketplace contributors have already created their profiles – please check them out!
Of course, this does not mean the end of aftermarket development with Invision Community. We are currently building new development tools for Invision Community 5 which have easier ways to add new functionality.

We want to express our sincere gratitude for your ongoing support and trust in Invision Community. We believe these changes will enable us to better position ourselves to continue moving forward in meeting the present and future needs of our customer base.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for being a part of the Invision Community family.

    Update
We have posted our next blog covering the next steps for obtaining purchases from 3rd party developers.

Is there a way to allow administrators to be notified of new registrations? I looked around and could not find a way to get this notification. Thanks.

Click in the notification icon in your ACP:

Then Notifications settings then enable Receive email notification?  on A new member has completed registration.

Zdeněk Tůma reacted to gabs007 in Blogs in Clubs - Needs reasonable Improvements
I know the blog application is probably the least used of all applications, but I'm not asking a whole rework; only what the Galley application already has or does for clubs.
For what I have seen, right now, only club leaders or users with moderator permissions in clubs can write in a blog inside a club. This is the most restrictive permission possible. This is also the case, even for public clubs and it means that the blog application ignores the type of club and has the same permissions.
Galleries in clubs have the option to decide who can post images in that gallery: the owner, any club member or anybody.
I think blogs should have the same options enabled. so that members of the club could post blog entries if the club leader agrees.

Edit to add..  Oh! 😪 only an admin can add a picture cover in a club blog. 🤷🏼‍♂️    and blog cover pictures can't be added while creating the blog. First you create the blog, then you add the cover. This explains why most of my community blogs have no cover at all.

Hey IC fam, is it just me or does it feel like every morning I wake up and it's Wednesday. No more Mondays or Fridays, just Wednesdays. The weeks are flying by 🤯
Maybe it's cause we're hard at work on 4.6 and the Achievements system.
I personally had a chance to play around with Achievements and it's super powerful and sleek. Without giving away too much, it's seamless and intuitive. If you are even semi-familiar with the admin panel (which I imagine many of you are 😆) then you'll pick things up rather quick.
Below is a list of new fixes we made for 4.6 in the last few days:

    - Fixed sitemaps not generating properly.
    - Fixed an issue where font-sizes on mobiles weren't following the Font Scale setting. (FORUMS)
    - Fixed an issue where users may not see the correct page after checkout if email validation is in use. (GALLERY)
    - Subscriptions Grace Period setting will now allow a value of 0.
    - Fixed an issue where AdminCP theme resource may continuously be written to disk.
    - Improved performance of session handling.
    - Fixed the hardcoded "Change how the notification is sent" text with the notification. (BLOG)

In case you missed last Wednesday's Hump Day post, tap here. Blink and it'll be Wednesday again! If we're lucky 🙂

Add this to your custom.css replacing forumid with the ID of the category, and content with the unicode value of the icon you want. You can find the ID by hovering over the link:

[data-forumid="12"] .fa-comments:before { content: "\f3ed"; font-family: 'FONT AWESOME 5 FREE'; } ^ Copy and paste the block per category replacing the forumid

@Makoto's plugin will make this a lot simpler if you're willing to spend the $15 for it, which honestly isn't that bad.

That's my current list of blocks right now. And I'm working on a new project which means MOAR!!!

Zdeněk Tůma reacted to Morrigan in Pages Blocks enhancements
So I have a ton of blocks and well I'm starting to lose control of them and figured it may be a good idea to request some feature enhancements for it so that I can both clean up my blocks and also use them more efficiently.

Of course there is categorizing which is great but sometimes I mis-categorize some of my blocks. This is a particular pain point when you have to look for it on the front end. The enhancements on the front end I'd like are:
Categories collapsed by default when you open the edit bit, this way I don't have to scroll through my massive list of blocks or manually close them until the right category comes up. Ability to search the list like you can search in the ACP, just a quick like "block title" search that filters out any blocks that don't have that title. It would just make life so much easier. Next! I don't know which of my blocks are in circulation and where so trying to clean up, organize and get rid of unused blocks is a nightmare. Right now I see a list of blocks with the code and that's it and since I use a lot of Plugins the title could be repeated. The enhancements I'd like for this:
At minimum I want a count of how many locations that a block is located on the manage screen. Bonus points if you can click on that number and see the locations like: Forums > Index, Page > Test, Gallery > Albums, Gallery > Categories
The physical location doesn't matter (As in sidebar, header or footer) to me as much as the page it exists on.

Zdeněk Tůma reacted to Tom S. in Better statistics about our customers
I've made a topic about this before but I feel it's something that is severely lacking yet so useful and probably a fairly easy feature to implement.
We need better statics about how our site is performing with relation to customers. Right now all we have are general overview of what was purchased and revenue. There is also some markets data which is nice, but we really should be able to see things along the line of:
How long are users staying subscribed to renewal products (churn rates) How much are users spending on average per month What is the average revenue per customer What is the conversion rate of trial to paying etc etc...
All this info should already be available within the database in some kind of form, we just need a nice visual way to interpret it and create reports.
On a side note, Stripe has some reporting tools already on their platform but when I go there, it's empty. So I wonder could the API be better setup so that stripe can use the sales data coming from IPS? That would already be a big win.
    Thanks

Zdeněk Tůma reacted to Morrigan in Create Menu still needs a re-work
So I have been revamping my main site for ages today and it reminded me how much I loathe the "Create" link.
It shows you EVERYTHING you have access to submit if your database name and the record name are the same they are redundant as hell (Submit Record to Records) and this is even more prevalent when you use a single category setup instead of having multiple categories.
On top of that (and I'm submitting this in a separate topic) Pages databases are a mess in it.
I recently revamped my Create link, though I can't fix all of my issues I was able to take it from this:

    To this:

While some of that (I'd say about five from the first section) are admin/staff only it doesn't make that list any less daunting or confusing for an end user.

    So my issues:
No option in order. It currently follows an App order to put it into the list and for Pages they are all listed in whatever order they want looking at it now. No option in what shows in here. If I want a database to be submitted from only one page I can't tell the create menu (without editing the template) what not to show. Create is too vague of a term. I changed my verbiage to "Quick Create Content" to see if it gets used any more than it had been before as it stands even though it moves with the site I still don't think my members know what it is or how to use it.
What I want is something where you can mange what shows up and in what order. People are already inundated with how much stuff can be on any one site, it would be good not to overload them with looking through a long list of what they can submit and focus them on your primary content sources.

Zdeněk Tůma reacted to Matt in Make better use of reputation / like information
These are great ideas. Reputation isn’t stored in the most accessible way from a query point of view which is why these features haven’t been added yet.

We would need to engineer how we store it differently but it’s something we do have in our collective minds.

I like this idea. It's a cool way to show what posts are popular for that day/week (whatever set time period).
We are working on an Achievements system right now, so perhaps it's a good time to address this and see if it's feasible. I will circle back when I hear one way or the other.

    Hey,
we have published the first article of a series about upcoming 4.6 changes.
We took the opportunity for some spring cleaning, so we have removed most of the deprecated methods!
They were all marked as deprecated for a while, so you should already be aware of these methods, but here’s a full list of the methods and the new approaches to make your life easier, so if you haven’t already, now it’s the best time to review your code and make sure that none of these methods is used.
Most of the changes can already be implemented while the 4.5.x lifecycle.

Zdeněk Tůma reacted to sudo in GraphicsMagick Support
    Hi
We have been doing test migrations and I noticed a huge amount of memory usage from Imagick on our install which reminded me that there is another option, GraphicsMagick which was a branch from Imagick a few years ago.
Generally it runs much faster and lighter than Imagick and also it seems to have less security issues. It does have some limitations over Imagick but most of them seem to be related to more advanced image processing so I *think* they would not be an issue for IPB.
If php was directly calling the Imagic binary rather than the php wrapper you used to be able to directly swap them out and it would mostly work if I recall.
    Just a thought.

I think having an option to only show promoted/premium clubs or recommended clubs only would be a nice feature. I have clubs I would like to show but can't on the forum index (without heavy theme modification).
Added to this display it should (especially for forums) create a singular outer forum (that takes you to the club) and then all of the topics section display as children/subforums instead.
