LiveG reacted to Marc Stridgen in PHP requirement error
You can safely ignore that on the standalone requirement checker. That tends to only be used for fresh installs, in which should really be using PHP 8 at this stage

Hint… create a subdomain like beta.yourdomain.com. Make a copy of your MySQL database and copy your IPB files from the prod instance to the test instance.
Edit your conf_global.php with the new database info and the new base URL.
Activate your test install license for it and do whatever tests you want.

Superb. Clean and Elegant. Thank you! @TAMAN
Will it work with PHP8?
I am considering purchasing the pages app for the RSS option.
Is it possible to adjust the app as every refresh will not reset the ticker news flow?

Desperate for the update, such a good app, we relied on for two forums.

I’m not dead! I’ve read all replies made the last few days, and I’ll post a longer update later this week.
But to summarize: An update to make the app compatible with the latest Invision version will be submitted for approval this weekend. Bugfixes and new features will follow later.
I’m also considering open sourcing this application and my other plugins (most are already open source), allowing anyone to make their own changes, but there’s some license stuff that must be taken into consideration. For instance, it will not be possible for anyone using my code to commercialize it, meaning any changes will have to be released for free. Also, at this time I’m not considering passing the application on to any other developer.

The support page in your ACP contains now a new block which will tell you if there are any issues.

Would advise performing our software upgrade first then when things are functioning well, perform the PHP 8 upgrade. This way you can associate anything that goes wrong and troubleshoot that more effectively.

LiveG reacted to Marc Stridgen in php8 upgrade
It does need to be noted here that the real impact may be that if you have an issue, you are actually causing yourself more of a problem by having not updated. The warning is given in order to prompt action to find out if your 3rd party items are ready and to obtain updates if they arent. You could end up in a situation where you have an issue and find yourself having to upgrade to gain support, while not having prepared yourself. Or worse, find yourself in a situation where you end up compromised because of a security flaw that is found in PHP that isn't patched.
Of course this is up to yourself. Nobody can force you to upgrade. However, the above is the real impact.

Correct. Your site will remain functional however there will not be access to technical support until you’re running the latest version and you may miss critical security updates.

I can't add a similar plugin for copyrights reasons, but if the author passed it on to me, I wouldn't mind supporting this plugin.

First of all, thank you to those who were able to test the application. Here is the current state of play...
The application will be released, however it will only be for the recording of audio in its initial state.
Why? Because audio doesn't provide as many headaches as video does, from the point of view of Codecs. I am not willing to support "a member recorded this on the MacBook, but somebody with an Android 8 device with version XYZ of Chrome can't see the video but they hear the audio" issues at this time because it is not something I can control. (Note: replace 'Macbook' and 'Android' and 'Chrome' with anything of your choice...the concern still stands)
So, what next?
"(NE) Media Recorder" will be released soon. When? Soon. Any further ETA than that? Yes, when I have time to make it sooner.
What about video at a later point?
That ultimately depends on take-up of the application. I am going to be brutally honest here and say that purchases of recent items I have put up here, as well as older resources, don't exactly make me confident that I can recoup the time I have put into this, at a price that is affordable for people to buy.
If it proves popular then my plan for adding video is to provide a plugin to the application, which will allow you (and me) to determine more details about the video codec situation out there. Assuming that shows that it is a goer, then the functionality provided by the plugin will be added to the application.

Time to expand out the testing (thanks to @MythonPonty for assistance so far)
Note the following:
1. Testing will be done on my own test site, not your own site.
2. I have a specific set of tests I would like performed, and instructions will be provided on the test site - if they aren't followed then you will lose access to do the testing.
3. If interested, send me a PM.
4. Sending a PM doesn't guarantee that you will be used as a tester.

Sound like a great app.
The only reason i wouldn't bye it is the lack of compatibility with "Who was online within 24 hours."
Good luck

Thanks for posting!
Unfortunately, this issue is beyond the scope of our technical support. 👩💻
Our technical support is happy to help you with the Invision Community platform, but we're unable to help with things like server management, theme questions and modifications.
I've moved this to our Community Support area where other Invision Community owners will see it and help where they can.

LiveG reacted to Jim M in Alert for guests
It is currently not available as it requires a member id currently to track if it's been viewed, among some other technical items. You can certainly add this to our Feature Suggestion if you wish to propose this for a future release.
With that said, you can have Announcements, Guest Privacy & TOS bar, and custom blocks tailored to guests if there is messaging you wish to get across.
