SeNioR- reacted to Matt in Invision Community Insight: Version 5 teaser II is here!
We've released some news on Invision Community Five, but third party developers won't have enough information to get started on updating their apps. We're at the peak of the mountain now and ready to start showing more in the coming weeks.
I am really excited to start showing off the culmination of just under six month's work from our team.

SeNioR- reacted to opentype in Disposable emails block feature doesn't work
I had the same experience. It was actually hard to find a temporary email domain that was successfully blocked. But it does work.

SeNioR- reacted to Apfelstrudel in Disposable emails block feature doesn't work
Hello,
today we upgraded to the latest release and immediately activated the "blocking disposable emails" feature. (btw, very good idea 😉)
We did three tests with 10 minute or temporary email providers and in every case I was able to finish the registration and confirm my email address.
Did I do anything wrong?

That is intentional behaviour at present. 5 has had a lot of work in terms of theming, so this may well change of course

Thank you Marc.

Gabriel, the app to redeem the keys was developed by me and it's available for those who want to use it. You won't find it on all contributors boards. A few are using it and they seem to be happy with it ( @DawPi @Nathan Explosion @onlyME ).

SeNioR- reacted to Lindy in Cloud Maintenance (EU) - 9/20/23
We strive to ensure our cloud platform leverages the latest, most advanced, secure and performant technologies available. To achieve this, maintenance is of course regularly necessary. While the vast majority of updates and maintenance are performed seamlessly behind the scenes, there are occasions where a brief outage may occur.
On September 20 @ 10:00PM (EDT), an upgrade to our EU infrastructure will be performed. The maintenance window will be one hour, however, we expect service interruption, if any, to only last a few moments.
Please note that this does not impact all EU customers; only those who are served by our EU platform.
Thank you for your patience and, as always, you may find up-to-date information on our Status Page.

I did mention that it was the feedback forum that this was happening in - you are using the "Invision Community Insider" forum for your test.

This topic I just posted might be related to the same root cause. 🤔

SeNioR- reacted to Apfelstrudel in Disposable emails block feature doesn't work
Interesting to hear, but I used Google's top search results for "10-minute emails" or "temporary emails". Maybe I should look on page 10 of the results page to use a lesser known provider. 😄
But seriously now, if the problem mentioned by opentype is like this, then the list of these providers should be optimized 😉.

I used the same method. I guess the problem is that those mail providers can just add new domains every week and the block list is never up to date.
But I still appreciate the feature. It certainly helps to reduce those registrations.

How big of a factor was the fact that Invision no longer wanted to deal with support related to 3rd party add-ons ?
Now that you guys mostly sell the hosted solution, I am sure you want to focus your support on your community. Not of 3rd party that break your software because they are poorly written / and or not updated.

Any outstanding should be reviewed this coming week
Yes, it'll be available for a while yet (no current plans for an end date to remove it)
Most customers don't have that many purchases to warrant the time spent on that.

Small tweak to not load JS and CSS for guests as they don't have access to the Messenger anyway.
Hook cssFiles.php:
\IPS\Output::i()->cssFiles = array_merge( \IPS\Output::i()->cssFiles, \IPS\Theme::i()->css( 'livemessenger.css', 'livemessenger', 'front' ) ); to
if ( \IPS\Member::loggedIn()->member_id ) { \IPS\Output::i()->cssFiles = array_merge( \IPS\Output::i()->cssFiles, \IPS\Theme::i()->css( 'livemessenger.css', 'livemessenger', 'front' ) ); } and
\IPS\Output::i()->jsFiles = array_merge( \IPS\Output::i()->jsFiles, \IPS\Output::i()->js( 'front_livemessenger.js', 'livemessenger', 'front' ) ); to
if ( \IPS\Member::loggedIn()->member_id ) { \IPS\Output::i()->jsFiles = array_merge( \IPS\Output::i()->jsFiles, \IPS\Output::i()->js( 'front_livemessenger.js', 'livemessenger', 'front' ) ); } -
SeNioR- reacted to Fast Lane! in New Spam Prevention Features
Hi, the geolocation block is only at a country level (really broad block). Can we narrow that down at all? For countries like India (with lots of spam attacks) this would block a few Billion legitimate people.

No. Moving to v5 will require accepting the new license terms. If you want to accept those terms early, you can gain access to the new pricing structure immediately including having access to all of the applications.
Those that do not want the new terms can stay on v4.

SeNioR- reacted to Matt in A (very) brief look at Invision Community 5
As you may know, Invision Community 5 is currently in development, and progress has been great, with many areas starting to come together.
Almost all of the significant code restructuring has been completed, with much progress on the UI and the new theme bearing fruit. A fair few new features are complete, but some aren't quite ready to show, as they need a little love from Ehren.
I wanted to share a little teaser of Invision Community 5; how many new things or changes can you spot?
The small print
Please remember that the features, functionality and UI shown in this little teaser are pre-beta, so they are subject to change. The features and functionality shown here aren't all that has been completed; many new features are 'code-complete' but waiting for some UI polish before we're ready to share more. Essentially, what you're seeing is a work in progress.
We don't have a release timeframe in mind yet, but we'll let you know when we do!
