I'm still hoping for an easy, elegant and native (no plug-ins) way to toggle dark/light mode on my Invision Community. Here's a toggle switch that is very elegant that hopefully will inspire the Invision Community designers:

Most of our user base browse our forum in dark recording studios and complain about the bright website, being used to dark mode. I wish Invision would add a Dark mode option.
I know there are workarounds, and I know about the Dark Mode 3rd party plug-in but it's got its own issues, so I would favor a built-in user setting in the core software.

I got it worked out. The iframe code that I used and that works for me is:
    <iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="270" src="VIDEO ID GOES HERE&embed_domain=YOUR DOMAIN GOES HERE" width="480"></iframe><br />

Markus Jung reacted to opentype in A Wiki
I would rather see the existing Wiki functionality improved. I used MediaWiki(-like) software for years, but it remans niche software with a very weird approach (stuffing content and structure into one big article field) that editors first need to learn. The way that IPS does it, is actually superior for most communities. You aren’t collection any sort of content. You collect specific content around your community topic. So you just set up databases for each type of content. Then you set up custom fields and then users just fill them in. If it’s a date, you use a date picker. It’s an URL, you use an URL field. And so on. And you create templates to style the custom fields however you like it. Ever since I switched from MediaWiki-like software to IPS’ implementation, people actually started to create and improve records. And I stay in full control of how it works and looks. It’s extremely powerful in that regard. Just the options to track and approve edits are lacking in comparison to MediaWiki.
I once had a vBulletin site with a third-party solution to implement a MediaWiki functionality and it was so annoying to maintain. Two independent pieces of software with their own code, their own updates, their own CSS, all crammed into one. Yes, it can be done, but can it be done well? And would IPS or anyone want to maintain that for many years to come?

Markus Jung reacted to Sirmadsen in Small change to blogs layout
One thing that can drive me crazy is when layouts are not symmetrical. When viewing the first page of the blogs everything looks fine, two posts at the top and then 3 posts per row. 23 posts in total per page. However, when going to page 2,3,4 etc. 23 posts per page becomes an uneven number and ends up with a blank space at the bottom.
I would suggest to change the number of blog posts from page 2 and forward to be either 21 or 24.
I know it's a small and probably not important change but I hope it can be fixed at some point if not at least for the aesthetic aspects of the theme.

Markus Jung reacted to David N. in Cloud email service
I can't really speak for elastic search but I agree that the need for an external email provider is a bummer at that price point. Or to put it in a more positive light: it would be awesome if in the near future, the Cloud services included email services so that notification emails came from the expected domain name, and not from noreply@invisioncloudcommunity.com - without the need to purchase an additional service from a 3rd party vendor.
I suppose that may belong in the "Feature Suggestions" forum.

    Hello,
would it be possible to provide some improvements in the future for the purpose of GDPR? Unfortunately, some of the awesome features of Invision are not usable or limited in European countries. 😞
The following points would be especially interesting:
Disable saving of IP addresses completely. Load external embeddings only after the user has agreed. The possibility to run services like twemoji or if feasible the spam defense service locally on the own server. Best regards,
    Vakarian

    Happy Hump Day! Sort of…
I have a bit of news to share with you: this will be my last Hump Day as I am stepping down from Invision Community. 😢
I am transitioning to a new role at Amazon. I’ll be creating content and engagement solutions for AWS.
I’d like to take a moment to thank this community for welcoming me with open arms. When I first started my journey as an Invision Community team member, I focused on community advocacy and connecting clients with the team. We quickly realized my, um... exuberance was better suited in marketing and sales.
Creating content around Invision Community opened my eyes even further to how brilliantly crafted this platform is and the team behind it.
I've also genuinely enjoyed communicating with industry professionals every day who showed interest in adding a community component to their business.
So many incredible Achievements (😏) happened along the way; I’m grateful I was a part of Invision Community’s success as we blazed through the 20-year anniversary. 🎉
Now, you won’t be rid of me entirely. My own community, BreatheHeavy, will still remain on the Invision Community platform. I look forward to staying connected with all of you here!
Thank you for engaging and interacting with me these last few years.
Please feel free to PM me here if you have any feedback, questions or well wishes. 😃
I want to give a special thanks to @Charles for being my mentor and seeing potential in me (even when I didn't).
And before I go, here’s a list of updates and changes made to the platform in the last seven days:

    Thank you, 🙏

It did not work for me.

I do not think it was because I set it up improperly.  I believe the problem is that the app only puts the adverts in the header and footer, which I already have successfully populated.  I want to be able to select where the adverts go - specifically, to put the advert in between the first and second post in the threads.   I am under the impression that option is not available with this app.

Thank you @Olivia Clark and the community for such a warm welcome!
It really is a pleasure to be here on the best forum software there is on the internet today. From the good old Invisionfree days, never would I have thought I'd be part of such a knowledgeable and effective team.
I'm really excited for what the future holds for Invision Community (and Invision Power Services in general) and I'm glad to be on this journey with you all.
    Haha, thanks mate.
It really is @Miss_B and thank you very much for the warm welcome!
And I'm ready and will do my absolute best to assist where I can, @abobader. Where I lack skills or knowledge in some places, I excel in others, so I hope I can be of benefit to everyone I deal with.

Invision Community is growing! We are excited to welcome a new team member to our Customer Service team so we can better serve you!
Please help me welcome …🥁… @Gary!

Gary has been a long-time fan and user of Invision Community. We are excited to have his experience and fresh perspective on our team.

This is what he had to say…

Share with us why you wanted to join the Invision Community team.
I have been a huge fan of forum software and creating websites in general for so many years and stumbled upon Invision Power Board whilst I was still in high school (circa 2004-2005). The first forum I created was on Invisionfree (that brings back so many good memories!) and I remember creating so many different types of communities. I registered an account at Invision Community in 2007 and always dreamed of creating a successful community, but finding a niche proved to be very difficult. Last year there were positions advertised at Invision Community, and whilst I was not successful then, I decided to apply again for the more recent ad and was pleasantly surprised when I heard back from the team: persistence is key! Personally, forums have always been a passion and hobby of mine, and to be able to spend time on them in an official capacity is such an amazing opportunity and I thought I could bring something new and fresh to the Invision Community family.

What excites you about this role?
Aside from having a passion for customer service and helping the community in whatever capacity I can, I am most excited about the freshness I can bring to the community. I am an advocate of working collaboratively internally and externally and I am really excited to see what Invision Community has in store for us all to maintain its standing at the forefront of modern community software.

Gary, we are so excited to have you! Welcome to the team! 🎉

Please join us in welcoming Gary in the comments.

Application is still working as intended, both issues were members not setting up the application properly.
If you would like I would be happy to setup a demo so you can see this in operation?

Markus Jung reacted to SeNioR- in [SEO] Ability to edit URLs for Topics
Pages has an option to edit the URL, so why not add that for the topics as well? 😉

Google doesn't like too long URLs*, which are unfortunately created by the topic title name.

Instead of an automatic title like in the example above:
    https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/topic/469943-ability-to-re-order-create-menu-functions-a-current-applicationpages-design-issue/
You could set your URL, containing only key phrases to:

Or (and in my opinion even better) make it default to search everywhere. If you get too many results, you can then narrow the search in the next step.

    @Markus Jung
I don't use Blogs, so cannot develop for it - and purchasing it is a $100 outlay alone on my part.
I can easily add a basic check to see if the user is in the Blogs application and have the functionality available there, however adding granularity to the permissions requires purchasing of the application so I can see the code.
As noted in the information provided in the resource listing:

Nice to see this in the newest release - "Changed the default search option to 'Everywhere' for the default app otherwise it's app specific."
It's a step in the right direction. I still think giving us the ability to use it how we want is the idea step.

While one can mod these in, I 100% agree it needs to be officially supported. No Tiktok, no Discord, no Twitch.
It's 2022, this should be a top priority now.
