Related to the permissions awareness, Is there any way to get number of unread topics/replies via Rest API?

I am not sure number of  "Likes" should be the main factor either. Like can mean "I acknowledge your post", like can mean "thanks for taking the time to answer", like can even mean "I am tired of arguing with you, you win".
None of these is equal to recommendation and what a like represents is very much dependent on context.

I never used IPS spam system, but I had another good strategy that worked with Q&A challenges. You simply replace some of the letters in your question with cyrillic, which have many letters that overlap with latin. This way bots cannot read your question, because it is not uncommon for bots to google your question and extract the answer from the result. 
Lets imagine that the question is:
What's the capital of Great Britain?
Whаt's thе cаpitаl оf Grеаt Вritаin?
Look the same to humans, right? Try to paste it in google and see the difference. Although google smartened up (it used to completely blank on the second question), it cannot provide the automatic answer it does with the top question. So to those of you that have bots passing succesfully their Q&A challenge I would recommend to try this strategy. Or at least pick up a question that google cannot answer automatically. 
Anyway, this is past now. I have disabled the Q&A, enabled recaptcha2 and I have not seen a single spammer since then.

4.2. was announced in a similar post on 08.03 and first new feature was announced on 09.03. So following the same logic, don't you dare not reveal anything new tomorrow! You will be getting a trick!

@Charles and the entire IPS team, while I do appreciate the "When its ready" sentiment, please keep in mind that you have stagnated the release cycle for almost 2 months now. Meanwhile, pretty serious bugs discovered in 4.1 are waiting 4.2 fixes. Not only that, but 3rd party devs have also stopped fixing bugs with the promise that updates are coming with 4.2, which is understandable. 
While I fully agree that it is important that rock solid product is released, please consider whether dragging it too long doesn't cause more harm then good.
