I am not using 4.6 yet, but I have a question regarding the new achievements system: Are those ranks connected to group promotions, so that you can use a certain rank as a requirement for a promotion?

At the moment, it's configured to just 1 colour for all user groups that have their posts highlighted. This can get a little messy and hard to distinguish in communities where multiple different groups have this enabled.

We plan to add this feature but wanted to implement base Achievements first to see how people used them. But it will for sure be coming 🙂

What, really? Why else would you implement achievements, if you cannot use them in order to "award" users with something else than just an icon, e.g. by promoting them to a new user group?
Here is my feature suggestion: Please make ranks part of group promotions.

Hi. It would be nice to add an advanced tag management system. Something like in WordPress. Mass delete and add tags.
Each tag could have a description, and the tags could be indexed on Google.

I actually like the current look. There are already so many things centered in the postbit.

Ok, let's get straight to the point.
Here I have widget for guests so for signed users is hidden.

    but not completely

I must add to my .css this

.ipsWidget.ipsHide { margin-bottom: 0 !important; display: none !important; } to be truly hidden

one of many little things that are still not fixed... and spoils the overall impression

With 4.5 we got those nice and shiny badges:

However there is not much we can do with these. No way to edit the icon (I know it can be done manually, I am talking about AdminCP options...), to way to change the inverval for how long a "recently joined" member is getting a badge, no option to display badges based on usergroups (not just if someone has moderator permissions) etc.
Also the "hand icon" for recently joined members has received quite some negative feedback. It is misinterpreted for restrictions being in place instead of a waving hand (what I suppose it should be taken for).
    Suggestions:
Please add a usergroup-based options: Display profile badge YES|NO (If YES, then 2nd option:) Edit profile badge: Background color (color picker) Icon Remove badge from moderator permissions (not needed anymore with the above option based on usergroups) For recently joined members, please add an option to choose for how many days the joined-recently-badge will be displayed.

MMXII reacted to LiquidFractal in IPB native Points System (IP.Subeconomies? IP.Points?)
Perhaps this is a pipe dream, but as sub-economies have proven to be a very effective way of hijacking goal-oriented psychology I would love to see a native points system in IPB.
In such an application one could develop different "banks" for different types of points systems depending on the nature of your website.  Examples:
"credits" (for purchasing services, Store products, exchanging for cash donations to relevant charities) tokens (for gambling, buying bling for their online personae) hours (if you're like me, you sell hours of tuition and/or consultation) How might these points be accumulated/awarded?  Examples:
buying blocks of tokens/credits/hours in the Store buying Store products: buy product X and get Y amount of credits in points system Z having the highest-rated answers in a Q/A Support forum having the highest reputation in a given forum Awarding points to people who invite new members to your community completing courses or other certifications Other ideas:
Targeted emails to certain groups, or certain individuals when credits/tokens/hours are at X or 0 - time to get more!) Targeted emails to people indicating they've been awarded free tokens/credits/etc. Promotions where points are awarded under special circumstances from dates X to Y Toss tokens into a (virtual) fight pit and watch your community fight for them.  Cue the oldschool Star Trek fight music.  Dance, puppets, daaaaance! mwuahahaha) Hijacking goal-oriented psych--err, offering points could be a great way to spur development and participation in one's community.  They could also obviously be integrated into other apps (or other apps could make use of points) as part of competitions, e.g., submitting the highest-rated photos, articles, blog posts, etc.  The possibilities go on and on!
As some know there have been a couple of third-party devs who have made Points systems, but I have come to think that if one is going to embed something like this into a community (let alone a business) I wouldn't want to trust it to anyone but the core developers for updates and stability.
I obviously can't speak for others, but I for one would be happy to pay for this as an additional (optional) IPS module, similar to the way IP.Downloads is offered.

I also want to advocate for a "To Top Button" (again). I know about the possibility to use plugins, but in my opinion this should be part of the core software.

I think it would actually be helpful to have a description wherever image uploads are possible in the AdminCP, saying something like: "Recommended: 250 px x 100 px or higher."
This might become obsolete though if we are able to upload .svg files in the future...

MMXII reacted to Phil Këvin in Downloads limit + Countdown
    Hello Community,
I have configured the download limit for 24 hours. Every time the user exceeds this limit, they think that the next day they will be able to have their two downloads of the day again, when everyone in "Invision Community" knows that is not so. The user must wait exactly 24 hours to have the two downloads again.
This simple detail is not known to most users, despite giving informative guidance on this, users keep sending me messages about "Why can't I download if I have waited one day?
I am sure that I will keep receiving this type of messages all the time, especially from new users.
For this reason I would like to suggest that a "Countdown" be added so that the user can see the countdown and know how long it should take to finally download again.
    Best Regards!

Correct. They could have just added a switch (as they already did for Moderators/Admins). It also helps for ease of doing upgrades to have as few custom changes to the code as possible.

Partially. It might send an email, if user X creates a topic in forum Y... (Can it though?), but what I am looking for is more Invision Community specific/working with data and values of Invision Community:
"If custom profile field X of user Y has value Z, then do..."
"If file X has been downloaded by user Y then do..."
"If user X is member of club Y and posts a topic in forum Z then do..."

One thing that is really missing in Invision Community is automation. Sure, we have group promotions (which have, sadly, very limited functionality), but that is about it.
I'd love to see a feature, that allowes to create scripts that do stuff automatically. Be it a user that posts in a certain forum and gets a notification, a user that downloads a certain file and gets a group promotion, a user that updates their profile picture and gets whatever... With a flexible system anything should be possible. It would be very helpful to let stuff happen in your community without the need to actually handle everything manually.
While I hope to see such functionality being added to Invision Community:
I know about a plugin that added such functionality once, but it seems as if it is not available anymore. Does anything similar exist? (Seached for it, did not find anything.)

I'm revisiting old news but I'd like to reiterate that perhaps self-integration tasks (I mean within the IPS itself and not including zapier) should be a thing. Pretty much something like the rules app which comes up quite often when zapier integration is discussed.
Please consider trying to add something similar in future version of IPS software which would allow such things like user described one post above me. Now that could bring things to a whole new level. 🙂
