The most frustrating thing for myself with the new search bar is yet again mobile users who account for a large percentage of traffic are still left with no such options.
What would be nice is when tapping the magnifying glass, a search bar drops into view with the same options to search within this forum and topic.

If I don't have any forums set up for solved/unsolved then the Solved option shouldn't appear in Unread content, it would help if this menu was less busy without adding more catagories especially when not relevant.

    Hi there,
I have recently been adding a new dark theme to our community and I noticed that the Twitter Embeds still return the "light" theme for the embed.
I can't find anywhere within the theme settings that can be set to designate the theme as a "dark theme", thus returning the dark version of a tweet embed.
Essentially it needs the URL to include the parameter "data-theme" with the values either light or dark. Would it be possible to set this in the theme settings?
It will save our users having such a contrast between tweets and the dark theme.

This one has now been patched. If you go to support within your admin CP, you will see a patch available there 🙂

    In your custom.css add
#ipsEmbed {overflow: hidden;} This fixed the issue for me until they roll out a maintenance release

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention! I can confirm this should be further reviewed and I have logged an internal bug report for our development team to investigate and address as necessary, in a future maintenance release.

    Hidden Posts
When a post is hidden by a moderator, the member that created the post should still be able to see the hidden post (in pink) and reason why it was hidden.
    Notification
When a post is hidden, the member should also receive a notification that their post has been hidden, linking to the post which will show the reason why.
    But why?
    1) It eliminates the confusion, did I post that or not, I’m sure I did but where’s it gone? Now if the member repeat posts I have grounds to slap them with a warning to obey my authority.
    2) I can’t expect moderators to engage privately with members over every hidden post, no member ever likes to be censored and would tie the moderators up in a back and forth but why not that or this type of conversation.
    Further Suggestion
With the above, allow the option to keep the moderator anonymous to the member. Also an option to require a reason when hiding so the moderator cannot leave it blank.
Great suggestion? I thought so too.

Cool gif, I'll save it for the moment when IPS will officially support the dark theme for the frontend 😉

It would be great if there was a feature to rebuild posts after a word filter(s) was added. I know there are some plugins/apps to achieve this but something built in sounds like a no brainer for a complete word filter solution.

Also, is there a template to use a word filter xml file? Or is this created when you have these on one site and then download?

I have been meaning to post this for a couple of years now.
Can we stop the ability to embed Twitter account feeds? Normally you would post the url of a Tweet and it embeds. However if you post the url of a Twitter user's account, it will embed a litany of their posts. This is far from ideal. At the very least, please create an ACP setting to turn this functionality off while still embedding individual Tweets. I don't want my users to have this ability and it just creates clutter in my opinion. Not to mention it continually updates.
An example of a Twitter user's url embedding:

On mobile, when you are viewing a thread and you click on the search tool, you're redirected to the search page rather than have a search input embedded on the same topic as it does for the desktop version, this results on the "This topic" search option not displaying on mobile, it would be nice to somehow have that.

I completely agree with you. It's the wrong of doing it. They should use advertising, social media or send us an email from which we can opt out. But having it ALWAYS in the main navigation is not going to bring me or many others onboard. It's a nuisance.

It would be wonderful if you guys included a follow button to check if there is anything new because finding a specific report to follow up on takes time. This will make life simpler for administrators and staff, particularly in large communities.

Day_ got a reaction from Kjell Iver Johansen in Light / dark mode button - themes
I think IPS could easily release an official night mode with a toggle without taking sales away from theme designers.
Let's be honest it's long overdue and been requested by so many yet constantly dismissed/ignored.
Theme designers in general offer something different, outside the box, not just a basic colour change which is all we're asking for by those that run fairly default themes.
We're all up against social media, the big 3, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, one thing they all have in common is an available night mode.
All of which I personally have, along with the iOS MacOS dark mode.
It can be jarring to the eyes spending time on Twitter to then come on this forum.
Come on IPS, it's time, let's get this done, you can't tell me that none of developers don't use night mode on other sites they visit and know the benefits.
This request will never just stop, the more licences you sell, the more this will come up.

That sounds like a really bad idea from a UX perspective. I can only assume it's for SEO, but there's no need to sacrifice ux for that, whats wrong with just nofollowing those links?
