How can we delete a member's display name history or a specific previous username?

If the only option in the dropdown is topic, it should direct straight the to topic creation part. A dropdown for one item, and an extra click currently.

I'm an iPhone user but completely agree, if the technology is there lets have it available for those who can make use of it, falling behind XF if you're going to wait on Apple

But those that wanted to, would. All it needs is an easy 'download our app' in the footer and the option is then available to everyone. I can only see activity decreasing over coming years unless forums get on board with it, every app you download has notifications these days

I say leave Apple and it's iPhones in the dust. Why must everybody wait for some company which may end up NEVER doing that? I sincerely believe that you should go with Android which has a HUGE userbase. That would benefit IPS users NOW bring more profit NOW. I honestly can't think why you haven't done this yet. It's not like Apple has 98% of the users and 2% are Android ones..

It’s instant and on the system level. You don’t need to open the site manually or check your emails. You get a notification on your mobile device. Whatever you do, wherever you are. It’s how the big players like Facebook and Twitter get people to open their app over and over again.

This doesn't appear to have been fixed in 4.4, unfortunately. I've just tried it on an untouched default theme. In a couple of my menu items everything is perfect; but it never works at all with Activity.
As far as I can tell the difference is that there are items in the secondary menu for those items which also have a dropdown menu. The presence of the secondary navbar seems to prevent the break in the hover. In the unsuccessful instance, there is no secondary navbar and the hover state breaks. I'll report it to support in the hope of a fix because I've just lost a couple of hours trying to fix this on my theme. If it doesn't work with the default, then I think it probably lies with IPS to squash that bug.

It would be better if these ticks were replaced with red X's when a question is answered incorrectly, as you go through the quiz it looks like you get every question right until it tells you otherwise at the end

Best solution is to use a somewhat standard format in that the topic links to the first unread post.  Pretty sure most of the scripts perform the same, not requiring you to click on a little round circle to read the newest post.
XenForo - click on topic takes you to first unread post
Burning Board - click on topic takes you to the first unread post
myBB - click on the topic takes you to the first unread post
Seeing a trend here yet?  IPS is apparently the only one that the users have to learn a whole new process for.  Really helps towards that user friendliness, requiring them to learn a whole new process JUST to use your site compared to other (possibly competitor) sites that they use.  Guess which they will tend to keep going back to?  Odds are it's not going to be the strange duck that requires them to have to relearn/think about what is "normal" for them on other sites.
And to top it off, clicking on that little round button is not "easy" on mobile when compared to clicking on that nice long topic text.

marklcfc reacted to forumdev99 in IPS 4.1 : ADVERTISEMENT inside the first post
I found the location in the templates for where to put the ad code to appear inside of the post, I just need the if/then statement syntax to limit it to only appear in the first post, instead of all posts.
    Open this template:
    Forums > Front > Topics > post
..and put your code right after this tags:
<div data-role='commentContent' itemprop='text' class='ipsType_normal ipsType_richText ipsContained' data-controller='core.front.core.lightboxedImages'> [your ad code here use style="float:right;"] Can anyone suggest the code I would use to limit this to display only in the first post?

Quick question - is it possible for a Member who has added a pin to a Map to remove it? If so, how?

I understand a pin can be edited, but it doesn't look like it can be removed, which raises privacy concerns if a Member subsequently decides they want to opt out of the Member Map.

marklcfc reacted to Tom_K in What is the point of activity stream?
I've read a lot of topics criticising the activity stream feature and I find it utterly unuserfriendly as well. What was the logic behind this change? It seems like a case where someone was trying to fix something that already worked and made it worse. Like Microsoft and the whole Windows 8 debacle.
Activity stream may be useful for a low traffic board and works on Facebook where you only get certain "posts" in your stream. But what is the point of having an activity stream on a high traffic board? It's so clumsy at what it should be doing.
Instead of letting you know which topics have new posts so you can get up to date, you face an endless stream of new posts (often from one and the same topic).
Basically what I'm asking si how the h**** should I be using this feature to help me browse the board? It obviously isn't doing its job properly but I'll allow the possibility that I'm just not using it as it was intended.
Can anyone help me understand this thing better? And why we can't simlpy have a choice of both (the old new content list and activity stream)? This way it just seems it was forced onto users.

So only administrators are able to use this, but what I am asking is if it would be possible to allow moderators to use this feature. The previous version I was able to either make it so anyone with ACP access or certain user groups could use the plugin, is this possible to do with this version? Referring to this -

Very nice.  Moving an existing forum to this application would be awesome.  I know some of my forum separated communities wouldn't want to move to something like this unless they had their existing conversations moved over.  Create that ability and you've got my $75.

Sorry but I have to say, it's horrific.

The view new posts feature on IPB2 is excellent, is used regularly on my forum for members to easilys view the latest posts in all forums. There is just something wrong, there is less info, but it's not easy on the eye, at all.

I assume this is how it's going to be as we've reached this stage.
