    i'm working on a 4.6 update.
one of the bigger aspects of this update i'm working on, will be is a custom calendar section, as trying to integrate into the calendar has had varying amounts of success and issues, so i've decided to add a calendar section to stratagem, it will still require calendar as it uses its JS and css, but it doesn't actually use the calendar app itself. this should allow for more things i can do with it eventually 🙂

I think there are two different use cases:
Editor for user-generated content. Should be simple, not too many options, clear and foolproof. I think that the actual IPS editor fulfills the requirement. Editor for articles wrote by admin. Should be powerful, have many options (text positioning, blocks, columns, grids, custom code pieces, custom styles, extendable with SEO and other plugins, have additional extensions via Marketplace etc.) For this case, the actual IPS editor is not enough.

I can't pretend to know much about the different types of editors, but I actually like CKEditor. There's been no issues, that I've personally experienced with it.
IPS should base their decision on a mix of things, not what's now trendy or fashionable.
I'm not suggesting anyone feels this way, but I do know CKEditor isn't something that will disappear over night. It's also well supported, has useful add-ons. If, other editors are stable, user friendly, responsive and isn't going to fall off the face of the earth then fair enough.
But I don't feel a change is needed for the sake of it, it's got to be balanced and we'll thought out.
Requiring to change again in the near future can put people off, I don't think members care about this function - provided it's simply, easy to use and does its job.

We're very much aware of CKEditor 5.

As mentioned above, the migration to v5 isn't a simple case of dropping in the new files. We'd need to re-code all of our custom plugins that handle many things including embedding, drag and drop uploading and much more.

CKEditor 4 is supported until 2023. While CKEditor 5 brings many useful new things, it's not urgent enough for us to "down tools" and focus a 6-12 week block on it.

It's on our roadmap along with other javascript improvements that we want to develop and deploy.

I have asked @Adriano Faria to make a podcast manager, there's a lot of room for communities to deliver a podcast straight to their audience and it's a very popular feature for sites to have. I think once things get into a position whereby there's an app for this, it will fit the needs of quite a few on here.

From what I've read it makes a lot of sense, the positives could see a large improvement for those that utilizes it - especially if .webp is used in conjunction.
Most people don't have overcomplicated graphics or logos.

We already know that in 4.6 we will be able to use the WebP format.
We need webp NOW (.webp) images support But will SVG support also be added? Why? Because SVG format is intended for logos and icons. Assets load in lightning speed, much faster than in PNG.
    Please consider the suggestion 🙂

Put up a patch here so you don't have to wait until the next update to fix this.
Unfortunately I do rely on the internal embed support of IPB 4, so if it's not processing the embeds properly, it doesn't give the Videos app anything to work with.
Have you tried using different urls to the same video?
Hmmm, full embed video or thumbnail? I honestly haven't looked into this yet. I'd be a little concern about it loading multiple embeds if a lot of new videos were posted at once.

I'd love to say soon but it's more medium term then short term unfortunately. IPB 4.5 really did take a lot of effort at the same time as when I was busy with real life. I won't go into the full details but there was a lot of surprises in there that developers weren't aware of. It's not easy when you've got nearly 100 apps and plugins and you have to make large changes to lots of them.

COVID is really kicking my sites, I started gaining ways to fund my communities from within and even some third-party work.
Last month, I lost an incredibly kind donator who chipped £10 for the last 2+ a few months.
I've been ever do grateful for the support, donation drives go well but you can't always repeatedly ask for hand outs or hand ups - people soon become tired of it. However, there's still people out there willing to lend support.
Unfortunately, this concern has impacted my enjoyment of what I do and I've taken time away from my main site.
It's a community within the real world, without those live interactions there's little I can do. I'm trying to move into other avenues such as merch and emails (the latter I've neglected) but on those past occasions where the community got together I often had donations given to me in person.
I've never known a feature to be requested so much, by many different people.
As a long-standing user of IPS, Michael is someone who's shaped our communities through his apps (plus custom work). I value his time, effort and dedication highly.
I'm just hopeful that Stripe might be added soon, with 4.6 it could be longer and I do understand. It's not easy to balance time with life and more important demands (I mean this with the utmost respect).
It feels like the last roll of the dice for me, without the issues caused by COVID - I'd be just fine but everyone is in some form of Limbo. I would hate to be unable to keep something I care so much about. This application has helped me several times when I've really needed it, so I'm not complaining. I know Stripe will be handed at some stage. Take me back to the early 00s when things didn't cost so much. 👍🏻

@breatheheavy: I am trying to find a dev that will create a widget/plugin that works with SendGrid mailing lists, this would allow members to unsubscribe directly from e-mails. I have previously used a script called Sendy which is very good, but I have moved to use SendGrid since my emails started to bounce. Hopefully, other IPS community users that use SendGrid would find this plugin/widget to be useful.

I'm a bit busy with IPB 4.5 still, so it will be a while before I can add this. You might want to check with other developers who are available.

Yep, work back to an older version...I can't be 100% sure but I think 7.1 is the highest that you can use, as IPS 4.3 introduced support for PHP 7.2
Actually, you may need to go to PHP 7.0 as PHP 7.1 support came in fully with 4.1.18

That last error is the result of a custom plugin it looks like. You could try renaming /plugins/hooks.php temporarily to see if this allows you access to the AdminCP.

Turn off Redis usage on the source site, via the ACP and make the provided changes to the constants.php; move database and content to the new server.

I appreciate it.  Let me reach out.  Would be cool if you sold this app.  I'm sure it would sell more now a days than ever before.  It seems its pretty big demand for podcasting a vlogging and it doesn't seem very difficult.  Biggest piece is to have a decent player on the site (which you already have) and the ability to store files and then RSS feeds for playlists.  So close...  🙂. Thanks again, I'll reach out Joey_M
