Hi I have just moved my forum from an installation with vbulletin which had vbseo. It was located in a /forum folder on the site. The IPB is located on the site root, but even if it wasn't, the URL's were not named the same as before. I have quite a lot of indexed threads on google and lots in my twitter feed, how do I do this so people are redirected to the correct thread on IPB? I have already redirected it so if people type in the /forum it goes to the root. The thread URL is different on vbulletin to IPB, is it even possible to do a redirect? I just dont want all those links to go to waste, there are at least 5000 out there, each time a new thread was cr…

hey, im not really sure if this is the right place to post this, but my license expired so i can only post in this section now xD. Im having a few issues with URL Rewriting. IT involves IP content, other applications and the main board. Firstly i have them both enabled, and work fine on their own. I have my forums located in public_html/forum and my IP content index is set up in Public_html/ On the most parts this all works fine for friendly url, for example the forums show up as /forum/ instead of index.phpblahblahblah and same with any pages on there like the members page and calendar (forum/members, forum/calendar) When i create pages in IP content they show up fin…

I would like to test some things with IPB on my system but have not clue on how to run a local server. I got Win 7 64-Bit. I recall a while back their was a program I could install and turn it on and off to run a local server. Anybody have any ideas on such a program or even how I can do what I'm trying to do another way?

I've just started using Amazon's Cloudfront from my CDN, it's lovely and my pingdom response times are much quicker than before. I'd like to use it for the forums too, for the css/skin/avatars/uploads etc, is this as easy as it was with Wordpress? Has anyone done it and can you post up an FAQ perhaps please?

I'm in the process of moving over from wBB to IPB. Although I am using a VPS to host the existing board, I have purchased another one which is slightly better. What I planned on doing was installing CentOS 6.0 minimal then installing Webmin / Usermin. The new IPB will have 1600 forums (yes, I do mean forums). The number of active users is likely to be lower than 100 at any one time. The number of posts is currently 6500 but increased quickly on a daily basis. What optimisation steps would you recommend I take? Is it even worth considering memcache yet? I figure it would help using mod_expires? ExpiresActive on ExpiresByType text/css "access plus 1 day" …

I noticed that with the following ACP SEO settings Redirect to new friendly URL format - Yes URL type - Path Info Use .htaccess mod_rewrite - Yes many pages are accessible with both a trailing slash and no trailing slash. For example, the gallery can be accessed via {website}/gallery or {website}/gallery/. Could this result in duplicate content issues or other [SEO] issues? Would an htaccess 301 redirect scheme (from trailing-slash forms to non-trailing-slash forms, or vice versa) be recommended for this software?

Hi there. Guests from 180.7*.*.* (180.75.*.* and 180.76.*.*) are represented on the forum as being guests. They have been there for quite a while viewing the forum index. Do you have any pointers on how to boot them from the forum or vps ? Cheers, Brian

For a server that hosts only a large messageboard, do you think a single drive, RAID 1 or a RAID 5 is most suitable? I've been researching some of the differences (ie: http://www.buzzle.co...-vs-raid-1.html) but can't really decide which is most appropriate.

Has anyone ever attempted this, or wanted it. Changing the admin folder is one thing but changing the path is another. instead of keeping it in the forum root, you can hide it somewhere else. I have successfully done this, and just curious if anyone else has, or is interested.

I could really use some help optimizing my two VPS. Both the mysql VPS and apache/php VPS 1024mb of ram. My site has a Wordpress homepage, but the primary source of my traffic is the IPBoard forum. I am experiencing really slow load times on my forum when navigating from the forum index into a category and also when running a 'view new posts' query. My web VPS is consistently averaging 50-60% cpu usage and ram usage is running around 60-70% as well. My database VPS seemingly isn't doing anything... The cpu average is around 0 and the ram usage is about 5-7%. I definitely feel like I have something or multiple somethings misconfigured. Apache Config mysql config …

Does anyone know how to tell how many e-mails the forums sends out in a day? I am thinking of every time the forums sends anything out via SMTP, not just user-to-user e-mail. Thanks
