So then guys, I would like some info if anyone is willing? Basically I would like to know the difference between the different caching and optimizations you can use and which you would recommend/why. I know you can use some of them together, but I dont know which ones, such as memcache, xcache, eaccelerator etc. I currently have memcache running on my server on another site which seems to do well however I wanna understand it all. Also how are these set up on IPB? Can you set up more than one? Are the any recommended settings for servers? (I appreciate this is a difficult question to answer) I am using 1&1 dedicated cloud server with 6 cores and 8gb…

Hi all, I'm trying to block both Yandex and Baidu bots from crawling my site. In my html root folder, I've added the following to my htaccess file: order allow, deny deny from 199.21.99.110 deny from 180.76.5. deny from 180.76.6. allow from all Now, 199.21.99.110 is the IP number for Yandex, and according to my server logs, it's being blocked. However, every 6th attempt is getting through even on the blocked IP number. 199.21.99.110 - - [31/Dec/2012:04:10:29 -0600] "GET /403.shtml HTTP/1.1" 302 362 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; YandexBot/3.0; +http://yandex.com/bots)" 199.21.99.110 - - [31/Dec/2012:04:10:31 -0600] "GET /403.shtml HTTP/1.1" 302 362 "-…

Hi all. I have a forum that is packed with content. Most of it is very solid. But I cant seem to get any traffic to my site. There has to be something i'm doing wrong or not doing at all. I have no SEO knowledge besides the brief reading i have been doing as of late. But I cant seem to drive any traffic to my site. 80% of my members have been through word of mouth. It will be coming up on the sites 1 yr anniversary at the end of April and I'm wondering if I'm feeling discouraged too soon. Ive followed all of the Doc guides here and activated the MOD rewrite , friendly furls , and have submitted a site map to google. I'm not sure if its my sites structure or what.…

This issue only applies to the 3.3.X series So I'm seeing this issue coming up more and more here and peoples' forums expand and such. The issue consists of the whole forum being generally slow and the issue is caused by one query when a topic is loaded. The problem generally only occurs on a forum that has large topics (consisting of 5,000 posts or more), when one of these topics is loaded, the query runs, and, depending on the size of the topic can cause between 2 seconds and 45 seconds(!) of load time. During this time, MySQL generally locks and no other queries can be processed, if you have a busy forum this is a huge issue. The problem is that on a huge topic,…

Anyone set it to more than 1000 results? I'm not sure what it means by: "Second, there's also a 3rd argument to SetLimits() API call that also defaults to 1000 and must be raised. (With SphinxSE, use "maxmatches" option.)" Is it something IPB has to implement? http://sphinxsearch.com/info/faq/#max-matches

Hello all :) Can anyone show me where to find modifications for a 2.3.6 board ? Many years back i had quite a collection but i've lost them :( I've now decided to start my forum again and only have a license for 2.3.6 I'm looking for a shoutbox and used to use Deans D23 shoutbox plus any other mods that might be handy. Also without starting another thread or support, does anyone know how much it would cost to get a new board license for 3.3.x Thanks in advance

So I recently bought and installed IP.Board onto my webserver. For whatever reason, I kept receiving an error saying db_database was missing when I attempted to install IP.Board to fantasyteamadvice.com/forums so I went ahead and used the suggested URL of fantasyteamadvice.com/forums/board/upload/ and it worked just fine. My question is, am I able to use the redirect feature to remove the /board/upload from the URL's in the future? (I am also asking this for SEO purposes) Or will I have to figure out how to install IP.Board directly to fantasyteamadvice.com/forums?

I just moved to a new Server and when I installed IPB and transfered all my files over it says PHP GD is not installed even though when I login to the server under the root account it says that php gd is installed but for some reason IPB isn't picking it up and some features wont work without it, Arcade scores, awards, and some other things. If anyone has a solution that would be great.

Since our board was upgraded to 3.4 we seem unable to view the older posts in our Mods Forum ( none our showing pre the upgrade despite all older posts showing in all other forums). Does anyone have any ideas what might have happened to them or how to retrieve them?

We are one of many IP.Board owners victimised by the latest IP.Board security issue. Can anyone advise a scanner for finding the sucpicious files that are possibly still located in our webroot? We are running Linux (Centos) and IPS support was unable to give us any further advise  Cheers, Michel

Hi guys I've had problems over the last month or two where my forum has been suffering a lot of outages (usually for just a few minutes at a time) due to high server load. I've tried to act on this to reduce things that might be responsible, and in the last couple of weeks it seemed to have improved to the point where users weren't complaining, and I wasn't noticing any issues (I know there were still sporadic but brief outages still). I have quite a few hooks so i've disabled some of them, and have made a few other tweaks, but a day or two back the forum had a really big out (several hours) which appears to have really upset a few people. It's a bit upsettin…

After bringing this issue up with IPS in a ticket, I was directed to post the question in the server management forum. Hopefully, a few of you who use Sphinx on a large community can offer some advice! So, according to the official docs page on setting up Sphinx with the IPS suite, the index needs to be wiped and fully rebuilt once a day. I understand the purpose of this rebuild is to ensure the integrity of edited posts and such in the index; but the process causes significant resource problems on my community with over 800,000 posts. Some major database locking appears to be going on, as the site becomes completely inaccessible while the nightly cronjob runs. The r…

I have a host gator server that I am trying to install my copy of ipboard on, I am trying to set it up so when people go to www.mysiteDOTcom they are redirected to where I have the forum parked www.mysiteDOTcom/Forum. When I used the reirect wizzard on the cPannel it told me that it could not do it. I have been in contact with host gator and they had no suggestions for me. I have tried installing ipboard right in the public_html directory but it was all messed up. I realy need help so if any one could be of service or point me in the right direction that would be helpfull.

Hello, I would like to use caching on my forum. To accomplish this, I disabled the "Print HTTP no-cache headers" feature. However, when I did that, it caused all kinds of weird bugs/glitches on my forum. One such bug being that, when I reply to a topic, go back to the board (via logo link), then click that topic again, my post does not show up. I must refresh the page manually for me to see it. I isolated it to this setting, because when it is enabled, everything works perfectly. Could you guys explain to me why it does this, or help me to solve it? Thanks! BTW, I asked IPS to help, and they said to post here -_-

Hello everyone. I've started setting up my IPS in preparation for the launch of my network. To that end, since we're looking at having the highest possible number of concurrent users (it will be a publication of news/reviews in which revenue is only generated through advertising), I'm interested in optimizing the platform at the fullest. Firstly, I need a CDN. We bought the servers on the US East Coast, because that company offered by far the best quality/price ratio, but most of our users will come from Europe. I've been looking at CloudFlare, but I'm not sure how to install it so that it works with all the applications - Content, Board, etc. Do you advice that…

So, all of a sudden, google started doing its little "This site isnt safe" page for one of my domains. Curious, I ran clamav, and then ran ipb's internal scanner. IPB came up with this file tilted sh.php. I went to FTP to see what the contents of this file was. Its location was cache/sh.php, so I didnt think it was a legit file. Plus IPB listed it at 8. I would post the contents of said file, but I dont know if that would be the best method... You can find it on google if you really wanted to, but it starts out as : ============================================================================== ========================= END =======================…
