I run a few sites, one of them requires FURL to be open. (Google Maps API Call on a wordpress blog) It would seem most service providers prefer this option set to off or not use at all due to security issues. Why is this and what can be done to help prevent an issue? Currently the mod i'm using doesn't have any other options, it's also seems pretty common to have this feature turned on. (Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it's required for IPB software also) Can some explain why it's usually advised not to use this method when so commonly used?

How do I set this up so that some images have an expiry date. As you can tell I have no idea, I just ran a speed test and it came under high priority that I set an expiry date or maximum age for certain images..

I have a 10.6.8 mountain lion server running, I want to upgrade to the current Mountain Lion server software. Looking for someone who can either do the upgrade remotely, or walk me through it. I am most interested in setting up MYSQL and getting my old databases moved over to the new software.

A few months ago I moved onto a more powerful server. I made the move in mind that my website can get fairly busy, sometimes reaching 1,500 members during a 30 minute period. I've noticed my site performs slightly better when keep alive is enabled, however, this is only the case until my site gets busy. Once I'm averaging say 250-300 users per 5 minutes or less, the site grinds to a halt. Thats until I turn keep alive off.. I then notice pages load fine and the site can handle 1,500 with no problem at all once keep-alive is off. That leads me to suspect keep alive isn't set up correctly... would the server limit and max clients numbers be causing these issues? They are…

Hi guys, Google just sent me an e-mail informing me that my site has malware, but apparently can't tell me which file it is. I assume it's because someone uploaded a dodgy file (somehow) through IP.Downloads. Is there a tool I can use to find out which file it is? Kind regards, Graeme

In the settings and on the IPS community forums, it says you can't have a CDN + Javascript running. And I've seen it mentioned a number of times on the forum here. But community.invisionpower.com does and they serve them from netdna: http://tools.pingdom...visionpower.com So how do you properly serve the minified javascript from cdn? I would like to serve it from my MaxCDN/NetDNA/

Has anyone noticed this Robot heavily targeting their site lately? I'm not quite sure what it is, and if I should block it. It looks like it's from an indexing search engine called Ahrefs.

been seeing some oddities that the default mpm_preform or the mpm_worker do not have with apc in use. its, so far, just been acp side issues but was wondering if anyone had used the mpm_event.

Hey guys... What do you people think to using APF as the security firewall on a dedicated server? I had to uninstall ConfigServer Firewall (CSF) on my Linux CentOS 6 dedicated server because it kept randomly banning my IP for some odd reason. So I uninstalled it, tried to install/download Fail2Ban but failed, it wouldn't download using the "wget" command. So I installed APF instead, seems to be working etc. But I'd like to know is APF as good as CSF and/or Fail2Ban? If not, which do you Linux dedi guru's recommend? Thanks.

Just curious :-) I theory, it's a 613MB OpenVZ-like VPS. In practice, I'm not sure about the CPU throttling.

Hi, I was wondering if anybody knows how to determine what your server load limit? I am referring to the setting within CPU Saving & Optimization, which states "Will display 'busy' message when limit hit. Can be left blank for no limit". We have recently had a major issue with our forums which was due to a large number of users being online at once etc. And hopefully this setting could prevent the same happening in future? Also, does anybody have any other tips for ensuring the forums stay stable when extremely busy? Thank you in advance and apologies for my lack of knowledge in this area!

I wanted to post this in a separate thread since my stack thread was so productive. What type of disk setup do you find best on your servers for running IPB? Assume you are running web and db on the same box. SSDs seem to be the future, but the cost is still a bit prohibitive for us. One option I'm looking at is using a soft raid 10 with sata 7.2ks. I'm able to get this with most hosts for an additional $45 with the hosts. Looking at the performance seems to be about half of a 6G SSD. We have a very large photo gallery so the problem is the cost of getting an SSD big enough to accommodate that is quite expensive. If you were to go a non SSD route what do your…
