I did a little research and did not find any help for this error: mysqldump: Error 2013: Lost connection to MySQL server during query when dumping table `ipb_core_item_markers` at row: 3844 This started yesterday and I cannot backup my database thru the MyhSQL Workbench. I was also getting a Whitespace error but Support had me upload all of the current files and the did fix that. I ran every tool in the Admin Pannel but nothing seems to solve this problem. Is there a script that can be run to solve this? Any help would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Steve

We're looking for somebody that can help on improving the performance of our server (Cloud based dual CPU / 2 GB running cPanel on CentOS 6.5) / website. Sometimes pages load fast, and sometimes it takes over 5 seconds. We're not afraid of diving into configuration files, but we don't have much experience in configuring. We have to invest a lot of time to understand the meaning, impact and possibilities of each setting. We're wondering if there's someone who might be able to assist us in this. Budget is about 200 USD. For us the ideal scenario would be when you would do a first scan of the environment (for max. half the budget), resulting in an issue list. Each issu…

I have some long processes causing lag. For large databases with 1 million posts, what are the best settings? Is there a tutorial? Which search setting would help? Number of search results to show per page (I had at 200) Limit "My Content" results to X days (I had this at a very high number so the search could go back to the start of the forum) Would changing these help? Thanks

Hi all! I was hoping to get some advice about optimizing my site, as it has been bogged down with SQL problems for a while now, and the site is running almost constantly at maximum server load (which for our shared-hosting setup is a 4.5, according to the ACP). Topics can sometimes take nearly 10 seconds to load, while the board index usually loads fairly quickly. Worst of all, the PM system is nearly unusable; most conversations over 5 messages long will simply fail to load, returning a MySQL error instead. SQL logs in the ACP have countless occurrences of 'The MySQL has gone away'. I love IPB, but if I can't resolve these issues, I may be forced to switch. Various s…

Hi, I would like to know how to equate concurrent users to TPS (transactions per second) as defined by sysbench in MySQL. Eg, how many TPS does each 100 concurrent users require in IP.Board? I just want to understand what kind of hardware I'm going to need for each x users.

It took me a while, a lot of trial and error, but I think I have almost optimized my VPS. Only annoying issue I have at the moment is with apache and fcgid. From what I understand the number of fcgid processes started depends on the number of requests currently handled. Normally 3 processes are enough for my website, but from time to time the count jumps to 6. I have allowed maximum 8. I suspect (not sure, though) it happens when a search bot (possibly google) makes a lot of requests at once. When that happens the load on the server jumps a lot and the website is unaccessible for about 1 minute, giving 500 internal server errors to visitors. Shortly after that the numb…

Hello, Is it safe to have the Caches Tables, for example, Cache_Store, Content_Cache_Post and Content_Cache_Sig using the Engine MEMORY? Im already using for example, the Memory Engine for the Session tables. I guess there is no problem if we reboot the server and the content of those caches tables disappears, im i right? Best Regards

Hello, i got a php script, a website with a database, with existing users, and db. I wish to use IPB as a forum for the website, but i also wish to use the same user db. So existing members do not need to login and register again to access the forum. 1) Users who already are register within the PHP Script we already have do not need to: register again to use the forum, neither need to login again to use the forum. 3) FULL integration, meaning the same as above, existing members do not need to register or login to the forum to use it - when logging in to the website they can aslo go to the forum without logging in again or register. Is this possible with IPB?

I just finished tweaking Sphinx (and bunch of other stuff) for another member here and sphinx was being terrible with full indexing! So bad on the first time that it brought the site down for a good 15 minutes and maybe another half hour of crawling speeds on the first run. This person's db is bigger than the average, but something definitely not gigantic either. I write this little helper so others can benefit as well. Problem: The pull query creates a gigantic lock on several tables. And once the pull is complete, it creates a giant resource hog, maxing out the drive utilization writing all the indexing results. (I also didn't realize the disk was almost full... so I…

Help! So we have been on a real lousy server and just got a dedicated one on a new host. But now comes the fun part... moving a 40k+ post site. :/ Looking for advice on the best way to approach this, to move the databases etc. Possibly even looking for a wee bit of help so I keep my sanity :P Been trying to export the database but the file keeps failing - so yaaaa.... any tips are much appreciated!

I've seen some confusion and even some flat out misinformation posted on this generally rather simple subject. It's a basic step in properly securing any server system, but it's a basic step many newbies ignore. If you manage any server system that has remote SSH access enabled, this is a thread for you. Why should I care about any of this? Are you okay with having your entire server compromised, used as a botnet for launching DDoS and other forms of network attacks under your name? I hope you're not. If you are/if you genuinely don't care, I feel sorry for anyone that uses any website you administrate. Brute force attacks are a common reality. If you run a server, …

Hi - Although I have a dedicated server, I'm having trouble with my email. I have 37k members and about 300 signups per day, with a LOT of posting. Because a lot of people follow forums, send PM's etc, the amount of email generated is quite substantial. As a result, I started getting massive non-delivery because ISP's bouncing the email with messages about detecting an unusually large amount of email from this domain etc...it, it thinks its spam when its all legit. I figure I can't be the only one running into this...what do you guys do...does your email delivery work? Any suggestions? Chris

Earlier today, we attempted to install an app but must have done so incorrectly because it messed up the forum. So we tried deleting it but it looks like we might have accidentally deleted files in our public_html/uploads folder that is causing errors on the forum. We have a "full website backup" downloaded from cpanel but I'm not quite sure how to go about restoring the contents of the Uploads folder. It's the only folder that shows up as edited in the past day so I'm guessing this is where the errors are originating. Please help!

Using the ban filter in the member area or is there another place on the admin cp that is better. I think the ban filter just stops somebody with that ip address from joining but what about banning or blocking the ip of a bot or spammer? Thanks.

Invision set me up perfectly at Bluehost after a data import, but my site has grown beyond the VPS solution there and I want to move to Amazon before I buy advertising and traffic for the site -- I need a cloud solution easily expanded to support growth after advertising, etc. So -- Are there any admins out there who I could hire to help me move everything and set up on AWS?
