I've noticed that on my 3.0.2 forum (only been running it a few days now) that when I quote an inline image attachment from another post, the attachment does not render in my quoted post. Instead I just see an icon and the filename of the attachment: Hmm, I did a test in the test forum and it does the same thing here. I don't really like this behavior--was this changed intentionally? ..Al

I just had the chance to test out ipb302, preparing for an upgrade. And i noticed that there are a lot of select count(*) in the admin panel. Like the cache_overview. It counts all posts and members just for a percentage showing. With an innodb database, 5 million posts and 200k members, that's not funny at all.. Can't it just use the board statistics which is cached anyway? something like this: in admin\applications\core\modules_admin\tools\cache.asp use $cacheContent['posts'] = intval($this->caches['stats']['total_replies']); instead of $cacheContent['posts'] = $this->DB->buildAndFetch( array( 'select' => 'COUNT(*) as count'…

When a task is locked the "LOCKED" suffix is added after the task title but it is not something very useful since people can easily miss that text (myself included lol). Something that caught more the attention of the admin would be better.. A list of locked tasks above the tasks list might be a good idea imo :P

One of my users just pointed out something interesting with the new editor in 3.0. Previously, if you selected some text and then applied an attribute to it (such as bold), the text would still be highlighted, including the new tags, so you could then apply another tag. For instance, you could select some text, then click the Bold and Italics icons in succession and your text would be formatted as expected. Now, with 3.0, if you try this you'll end up with: After you apply the first tag, the text is deselected, so that when you click the second icon the tags are added after the text. Would it be possible to add a button to the PM popup that takes you to the "Full Editor"? I needed to send someone a file via PM, so initially I clicked on the "Send PM" icon under their name in a topic. That brings up the popup, of course. So I cancel, go to the user's profile and then click that same button. Same thing. Arrgh! So I then had to go into the messenger, copy their username and then start a message that way. It would have been much easier if there was a "Use Full Editor" or some similar button on the PM popup (similar to what you see when editing a post). Thanks, ..Al

I decided to post it here before creating a ticket, as other members might be able to help me. I am to the point where I install the board via the browser, however, it isn't working. Am I the only one noticing that the Recently Added Topics module in the right column takes hours to update with the actual new posts? "View New Content" lists the most recent posts, but posts from hours ago are still showing in the module below it. Any ideas on how to make this reflect changes in real time? Thanks.

Guys, I came across a bug associated with the IPS forums. When I do a member search for ".L.O.O.N.3.Y." which is someone distributing IPB and Premium Skins software on a warez website I get the following error (the error appears in the header section, where the head banner is supposed to be): I thought this might be the name of a registered member here on the IPS forums. Hello, I have order a paid programming in January 2009 and surprisingly the job has not been completed until now. I have tried to contact Customer Support with no luck. They have promised that someone will contact me "tomorrow" which was two weeks ago, but no one did contacted me. I dont see other choice than to complain publicly here on the board. Anyone care to explain me WHY my $120 value service has NOT been offered in the last 6 months? Should I wait for another 6 months to get this job done? See ticket 587929 for more details.

I know this has been suggested before, but it's already in several other forums, and it really helps people, especially newcomers, to not bump old topics. What many other forums do is put a banner in the post window that say something like "This is an old topic. Are you sure you want to bump it?" with a check box. I would like to take it a step further: 1) The fast reply should have the banner with a check box. 2) The regular reply takes you to a screen with the message and the checkbox with a submit button (and thats it) and checking the box and pressing the button takes you to the posting window. I'm currently testing to upgrade my forum from 2.3.5 to 3.0.2 but I find this last version incredibly slow. Even in performance mode. I'm not sure this is a bug in itself, but I wanted to know if I'm the only one or if this is a known issue. I'm finding this board slow too, even... Any chance to improve the performance for next releases? or any suggestions to do it ourselves in our board? I'm having second thoughts about upgrading from a board that works perfectly to a new version that may pose more problems... Thanks! EDIT: Lo-fi mode is faster, but still not as fast...

Would be really nice if there was a way to incorporate a chatroom into v3. I'm also interested in offering my members a way to establish a live IM session (outside of the chatroom), instead of always having to PM each other. For instance, they would click "IM" on their profile, and it would wait up to 3 min for the other party to accept. Even if these two features were considered add-ons, I would definitely pay for them. I just don't get it. The flow of user interaction is completely bass ackwards. You have to go around to several different places to deal with it all. I think it's best demonstrated by example: Let's say a spammer comes along, registers a new account, posts a spam topic, etc. Here's how I have to deal with it under IPB 2.3: - Get a report PM - Open the topic - Copy the username to my clipboard - Log into the ACP - Find the user - Delete any topics/posts they've made - Delete the user (I choose to delete, rather than ban, but it's the same net effect) - Delete the report PM And now in IPB 3.0, the flow hasn't improved at all: - Get a report email - Check the…

Since posts/topics have a history to them (like if you delete a post from a topic, when you view the history, it tells you where it came from), it'd be nice to be able to undo the changes. If it's a post that's been deleted, then be able to undelete it (ie, return it to the original topic). If it's been moved, split, merged, etc, anything that has a trail to it, be able to click a small button to under that specific item. That way if a post was deleted by mistake and ends up in the trashcan, then instead of moving it back to the right forum and then merging it back with the topic, you can just undo it and it'll be remerged with the topic.

I know it's probably a pointless thing but it seems to be a bit popular considering how many people seem to like it... Display "Member No:" on posts I know that I like it myself even though there's no real need to know it or show it. But as you can see in there, some people seem to really like to have it. So requesting that it be added back in by default. :)

Hi there After playing around with 3.0.2 for a couple of weeks I've found some things that seem strange to me and might be improved: When specific functions are prohibited for specific groups (like guests) it might be better if that function did not show up in forum menu. At this point, guests, who can only access a few boards on my forum, but no blogs, tracker or gallery, still see all these items in menu. Clicking these menu items offcourse will do them no good, but why showing them? The same goes for ACP, when I enable some ACP functions to staff, the should not see the whole range of possibilities, only those for which they have permissions. Elanor

Hello, I would like to see many of the ACP "User Profiles" changed to be per user group, not globally. I believe I have requested this feature before but cannot find it to "bump". Most items in the Global User Profile Options and Avatars & Photos sections should be per group. As things stand it is somewhat limiting, I'd like for example to allow just my staff and VIP members to edit their member title, but currently cannot do so. I'd like to allow only certain user groups to upload/use avatars but cannot do so. Same for BB code in signatures etc, certain groups I'd like to allow, but not others. I'd like to see the RTE supported for Safari and other webkit browsers. I don't know what the technical hurdles are in providing such support, but I have seen WYSIWYG editors for forums that have no problem with Safari. so maybe it is now possible.

Not sure if this has been requested or not. I know that many mods make use of permission masks now (such as tracker for example). There are some permission masks that are forum-use only, ie, would never be used except for granting permission to certain forums. So it would be nice if I could specify a permission mask as forum only or being global. That way if I have (say 20) masks that are only used for forum permissions and never for anything else, then I can set them to be forum only and then when fiddling with add-ons, I won't have those 20 to scroll past when toggling the global permissions.
