The tools provided for building installable applications are not very straightforward so I'd like to propose a few suggestions if I may... Firstly what's good. Although it takes a bit of getting used to the workflow the Templates, Language, Settings and the associated export tools work fine.Also the process of adding a new application and modules is relatively straightforward. What I think could be improved. Some of the plugin/extension functionality is a bit scattered all over the place in the file structure. Currently if I import a vbulletin forum to IPB, the links from my vbulletin board posts are not updated. Instead they stay in the old vbulletin way.However each time a user clicks on these links, an extra IPB query is executed to find the right IPB link for the old vB link.

Is there any way to show the thread rating in the search results? If not, may I suggest that this become an option? Showing thread results when a search is returned (ie from advanced search or from the view new content link) would be a nice feature. Thank you.

Hello, We have some categories in the forum, in the gallery, in IP.Download, in IP.Content, etc... We have to click on the navbar, we wait the loading of the page, then we have to find the good category on the page, we click, an other page to load, etc... Wy don't you add a good dynamic menu in the navbar, same style than when we click on the nickname (top right) ? One click, the list of every categories for a system appears, an other click and we are on it. Imagine, this system could make us save 5 secondes par clique. 5 secondes * 15.000.000 IPB users across the world, that means : 5*15 000 000= 75 000 000 secondes 75.000.000/60= 1 250 000 minutes 1 250 …

Just writing some mods at the moment and come across a issue where'd i'd like to add some stuff to run at a top level when ipb is initialised. After bugging bfarber and looking around i see theres no real way to do this. So this is a request for a top level hook that we could add code to be initialised when the registry/controller is. Reason being we might want to setup some class to be part of ipb, do some includes and doing it in every little hook is a waste of time and not very OOP. It would need to be before any application is initialised (forums/members/blogs/mods) for it to be of use. thanks and anyone got anything to add please do.

Posts that contain not whitelisted links are set to not approved.The user has the chance to edit his approved posts to remove the not-whitelisted links.If he does not, a moderator has to approve or not approve this post.

Lots of members post links to amazon (amazon USA, amazon france, amazon germany) and other affiliates etc. where you can put in an affiliate link from your board. Also you can replace a possible existing affiliate id with your own. I did that on my non-IPS board and there is lots of money involved.

Hello, On [url=" topic, we're speaking about a dropdown menu, for the navbar. It seems that a lot of webmaster want a dropdown menu. Ok, but may be we should have the possibility to configure all the navbar, in the admin, as a new setting. We manualy add links (internal or external) with our text and a connection to an IPB-system or a non-IPB part of our site. As much links as we need. Currently if I go to the IPS board the first thing I want to see if there are new replies to my posts. After scrolling down to the Watched Items list, I need to click on "Topics". My suggestion is to display both topics and forums in an open visibly row.

The apps management screen has a nice layout, however there's an issue it creates. Regardless of the ordering a member uses, the IPS and 3rd party Apps blend together on the board, with no way to really control it any further. It would be nice if perhaps the Apps weren't separated into groups IPS and Others. Instead, have one list with ALL of the Apps. Now, in order to differentiate between the IPS and 3rd party Apps, a different coloring scheme could be used. I'm thinking the current blue shades for IPS and then perhaps a grey scheme for the 3rd party Apps. This would give the added functionality of allowing Admins to order ALL of the Apps in the order they want …

I moved to IPB in the hope of a stable, fast host with good support. But only on the second day of hosting the site has been down for around 3-4 hours overall. This isn't good enough the users demand 24/7 uptime. I seen there were some issues with the chat etc for the first time but what about now ? Are you's updating the servers during the night which benefits American users but people in Europe are stuck with a timed out page. My forum this week has now been down with the last host for around 40 hours, I just hope these 1 hour downtimes don't keep repeating themselves. All I want is a reason, server issues, upgrading, maintenance...

Hey Guys, I have a small suggestion in regards to the default search behavior, specifically the results. IPB 3 shows a little bit of a post preview in addition to the topic title. When we upgraded our forums our members didn't like this and wanted the old IPB 2 search results back which displayed only the topic title. I found that the only way to change this was to either use Advanced Search and check the "Do not show a post preview" box or edit the source code directly in admin/applications/forums/extensions/searchPlugin.php and set public $noPostPreview = true; My suggestion is that there should be a setting in the Admin Area which allows an administrator to set …

Looking through the resources, there's a Spanish language pack that has been flagged as being broken because when you import it, it will overwrite the English language. Just thinking it would be nice if there was a way to go to import a language file but then have the option of overriding what it would normally do by selecting to have it overwrite an existing language pack or create a new/separate pack. Either that or if it's supposed to overwrite an existing language, have it prompt you for confirmation, so you can prevent a tragedy from happening.

Ok, I was asked to post here to give you nice people my official this-is-bugging-me-and-i-think-you-need-this suggestion: Blog print functionality. As in 2.3.6 or thereabouts, which had the nicely-formatted, crisp and clean print format for blog entries. Right now, the blog software has improved but I would personally like to see the return of formatted blog printing! Currently, one's only option is to use the browser Print Preview button to see what will be printed out. Using the browser you can print entries, but the formatting is terrible (all graphics and emoticons, gallery photos, personal photos etc. are printed as blocks one below the other) and not really me…

Hello, I'm running the IP.Board 3.0.5 I have some issues and want to know what's wrong, because I haven't changed anything (not that I think would cause these errors anyway) Here are some problems: [#10227] You are not allowed to use the private messaging system. (when trying to go to the PM system) [#10245] You are not permitted to view member profiles. (when trying to view my or other members profile(s)) Also the Shoutbox, Side Bar, and Whos Online has disapeared completely, and even my avatar in the top right hand side. Please can anyone tell me if there's a problem on their side of mine and when it'll be resolved, or how I can fix this? Thanks

Hello, is it possible to allow guests to have their own username in IP.Chat instead of having it Guest_xxx? Or at least something to distinguish them, like Guest_Name so they know who they are talking to.

Staff option (not regular members) of course. Find a topic, decide that you want it available in other areas as well. Click on the options for it, have an option to link topic in another forum. Select forum to add the link to. Now, the other forum links to the same topic. Somewhat link moving the topic to the other forum, then moving the topic back and leaving a link in that forum to point to the new location of the topic. ex, topic "Link me" is in Forum Ale, want a link in forum Beer. Could just select to add the link there. To do that now, you would have to move the topic from forum Ale to forum Beer. Then move the topic from forum Beer to forum Ale, choosi…

Go somewhere else, and select 'paste' from the Moderator select-box. - Select which forums you want to backup from ACP (and a criteria for the posts: i.e. backup all posts older than ___ ). - An addition to Prune system: instead of just removing posts from database, make static HTML pages.
