Is it possible to have portal layout by default something like mentioned in below topic link: http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/308849-portal-layout/ I am not sure for all but i have checked few forums and NONE are using the stock portal layout. It would be nice if default portal layout can be designed in more good way. Thanks

Would be nice (maybe even if it has to wait for say 3.2) to be able to re-order skins either in the Skin Manager itself (drag and drop or even up / down arrows) Perhaps even just an additional setting per skin to allow you to re-order them in the forum skin chooser drop down to your preference, I'd guess this way could be easier as you could set a display order the same way you can order custom profile fields. :)

Hi, Dont know if you guys think its a good idea. Could an option be added so if IP.Board is installed under folder /forums/ it removes the /forum/ FURL from the forums. EG - At the moment if you install IP.Boards under forums the links show as follows. - http://site.com/forums/forum/1-forumname/ Instead of instead. - http://site.com/forums/1-forumname/

Wow - I really miss having the ability to archive messages in IPB3. I know Michael John wrote a free mod to print, save to HTML, or Word - but even that is one conversation at a time. I wish we had the ability to archive all PM's in a folder and email them like we had in IPB 2.xx. At this point I would be willing to pay for a PM archive mod that worked just like it did 2.xx. Anyone else here feel the same?

Well, first of all : Please excuse my English....*g* I have used VB since the 3.5 Version. In the first Time i thougt : Wow what a nice and great Forumsoftware, cause i make a switch from WBB :) All was new and good. But after some years, i think it is a better way to switch to a Company that works with and for the Customers and not against. In IPB i have found a great Soft with a lot of Features. Yes some in VB too, but the most are Features that comes over Addons,Plugins, and what else. And after an Update .....you stand alone and wait for the author of that Plugin/Addon to match the new version. IPS get the most things out of the Box. The 3..x Version here …

That probably didn't make sense. What I'm referring to is how when creating a setting in the ACP, you can use one of 4 hardcoded macros (#show_forums#, #show_groups#, #show_applications#, or #show_skins#). It'd be good if an application could register its own macro. For example, "myapp" could register for "#show_myappfoo#", and myapp would be able to return a list of keys and values to display in the multi-select or dropdown box at display, so we don't have to basically reimplement the settings box if we want to, for example, create an app that can have modules to extend it.

Is it just me or does this seem a little degrading for IP.Board? Its an alert box and yes you did get alerted that the message was sent. But just reminds me of Windows 98 TBH. I hardly see those anymore yet alone in a web script. Maybe make it look like a notification or something... Maybe just a rant but yeah just annoying. Alert Boxes that is.

I was thinking about this (and I guess I could try it out but I think I might be right without testing) that the new Comments on status updates are not honored by the "Allow Comments" in the profile settings. I personally don't care but I'm sure some, that don't allow comments, won't want comments on their statuses either. Maybe it should be a blanket setting or perhaps another setting to allow comments on statuses in the profile. Just a thought. ^_^

Just my 2 cents here. 1) Why are you not able to see a snippit of a notification, like with a PM? Even as an option. It would be great if a when setting up a forum we had the option to NOT search it by default and only if selected in advanced search. To advoid confusion you could color those omitted forums in advanced search so the end user could tell which ones were not searched by default. My reasoning is that having a repo of RSS feeds or archived/dated topics is nice, but I don't want to sift through them when searching for something more relevant.

The Concept: IPB threads as comment system for external websites. Website's side: IPB topics could be automatically created and plugged below the Blog/CMS' articles; then on the forum's side, the first message of the thread could be the article's text. The idea is similar to some popular comment systems such as: IntenseDebate, Disqus, JS-Kit, Facebook Comments Box, etc. Those systems then enhanced their features with "Comment Threading" coming together as a forum, or at the least the forum's concept. So why don't converge the forum's purpose to comment system for websites? What do you guys think about it? :)

Recently I converted to IPB 3.0.5 from 2.3.6. Needless to say my server loads hit the roof and were unpredictably tough to manage. After tons of tweaking I found the single most important change that resulted in massive reductions of load spiking. Alrighty, so I noticed a few things that sorta irritate me lately since I have been working with IPB more and more. I hope some of these features will be added but of course it's just a suggestion, I hope to receive some feedback from the staff and members about it though. 1.) In the user profile page, can we have "View Posts | Pages" just like that below "View my Content" I do like the whole content idea but is a few extra steps for the most common and (for me) very used feature. Currently: 1. Groups can be hidden or displayed. (address your concern about being hidden) ACP > Management > Manage User Groups > Edit Group > Hide this group from the member list Y/N Y > Does not display in the members list drop down menu N > Displays in the members list drop down menu but is not searchable. 2. Hello everybody, after one hour watching for a post which referrs to the problem, I started a new one. If ther is already one which gives a clear answer, please redirect me ;) The problem: In the forum there are many emoticons (about 250) and my quest is now if ther is the possibility, by mod or build in with IPB, to have special drop-down-menus for special emoticon groups.
