I have said this before but after hearing form another customer how slow this forum is I will say it again... This site your selling point, customers use this site to see this software and how it works, the speed of the site is of utmost importance. I often find myself referring customers to my own sites as this one often has server loads upwards of 6.0 as it did just a few minutes ago. This results is poor performance of the site and slow page loading times. I highly recommend that you put this site on it's own dedicated server, even a small one will do with the current user-base and members online. Although it might seem a strange idea, I would like to see the option to flag a guest's post as spam. I realise this will only be able to hide / delete that post as a guests posts cannot be accurately determined just by an IP, but this will then allow us to send the IP to the spam service. Eventually if enough reports for one IP arrive, that may end up being flagged to further prevent 'member' spammers from registering with it. I realise we cannot really use this to check for a banned IP at post time with the spam service (although in theory that sounds like a good idea it may slow a board down a bit) Just a quick thought anyway.

Will the Admin Control panel be getting a face left down the road? I do enjoy the layout and stuff but I feel that items with in the ACP can be improve from what they are now. Just wondering before I post a detail post about it?

How about adding this support in by default? The mod by Michael is perfect but think IPS should implement it by default since its gained quite a following and IPS do use it on this site!

I have to say, my members and I really like IP.Chat. It's very simple to use, and it works great with our board. However, one thing they don't really like is having to accept the chat rules every time they enter the box. In the future, could an option possibly be added to have whether or not they've read the rules saved in a cookie or something, so they only have to do it once?

In your post "What's new in IP.Board 3.2" you wrote, that Portal has his EOL. I tried to make my portal page with IP.Content - but then the search box in the header is predefined for search in Pages (IP.Content) - and this is the bad point, for me. Most search results are in forums, and a blank result page (or with a few results) is confusing for the users. For this reason I decide to make my portal with "Portal". Do you change the search function or the result page if you kill the Portal? (Yes yes, I know, Marketplace... ;)) Greetings Claudia

I haven't looked into this much, but my forum skin uses 'em's, not 'px's or 'pt's to set the font sizes used for showing posts. It would be nice if the RTE could be easily skinned so that the Size dropdown corresponds to appropriate choices where sizes are 'tiny', 'small', 'normal', 'heading', 'title', 'big', 'extra-big' (instead of numbers) and the resulting size bbcodes insert the correct font-size css for the current skin. Also, the textarea box for the editor should use the same css styles as the 'post' will use so it looks very close to what the post will look like when posted. Being able to use folders and conversations in my Private Messages is an excellent ideea, but it's missing one important feature IMHO. When reading or replying a message, I would like to be able to Move the converation to another folder, which at this point I can only do if I view a conversation folder not while reading or replying to one. In my opinion, IP.Board PM system is going towards a full blown messaging system, so I would expect that PM system in IPB 4.0 to be comparable to yahoo mail at least. ;)

I'm aware of the mod available but I have to pay for that. I pay enough out to host and maintain my website as it is, the prefixes would be a great addition to my website but I need to know if Invision are planning to introduce this? It makes no sense to me that they haven't been added into the IP board package, even as an option. I've been waiting a while and would like to know the score, thanks.

Most likely has been posted before, but I was just on a VB forum and randomly came up with a thought of something that would seem useful: For the Moderators/Administrators, in a topic they (or the user?) get to make certain posts stand out in some way (color of the actual post area ( ) I'd think this would help with support forum or with topics with what seems like trillions of posts and the same repeated question and the asker is told to search previous pages. ---- If there are about say 100 pages, that could be "painful". In a different way for private use, mods could flag posts they think should be looked @ by other mods.

Ordered the new Ip board and after eight hours nothing. No email conformation , instructions etc. I emailed using the ticket system and waited. and waited. and waited. Eight hours and nothing. As soon as I ask for a refund and an answer I get all manner of responses all helpful and surprised. Not very good In my book. Just playing round with new customers . Happy to get you money but the real sales comes after. Not for me......

Hi, I'd like to request the onGroupChange synchronization option being run when one (or admin) successfully validates their (an) account. Right now I can only catch this action via onProfileUpdate ... and because of that I can't know which was the previous member_group_id of the member passed, therefore I'm not able to tell whether it was a validating member or not, unless I query the validating table and compare data. :)

Getting lots of feedback like this still and people are hating the site. I haven't even logged out since the switch from vbulletin to see this for myself, but sure enough - ALL of the posts go away and they have to start from scratch. What a mess :( Any ETA on the fix for this?

I would like to thank Jason, from IPS Support, for all the help and fast response to the tickets I opened today. Thank's to him, I was able to finish my forum upgrade from 2.1.6 to 3.1.4 and resolve many problems that ocurred during the process. Thank you Jason and keep the keep work at IPS !

Hello, we're currently working on reducing the MySQL-traffic from our forum. So we're thinking about rewriting the IPSContentCache class to use the value in the $INFO['use_[memcache|diskcache|*'] variable, in our case memcache. We're also considering moving the core_item_markers to memcache, since everything is stored in core_item_markers_storage anyways, since that table have huge amounts of traffic. Is this something that would be relevant for future releases of IPB? Have anyone done anything similar? Kind regards

I'm not a skinner. The skin compare thing does very little to help. Making minor adjustments without being able to find the problem is hard when you have a custom layout. Over time it sorta decays. Anyone else agree or feel the same? People able to skin don't count.

There's no reason IPB shouldn't have guest voting as an option. I understand the cookie issue for serious voting, but for asking people questions like "What's your favorite color", voting fraud shouldn't be an issue. We aren't electing the president. Let's be honest, there are 20 lurkers for every member and getting them to vote helps build a relationship with the site. I really think you should look at adding guest voting (with the caveat that the results may be manipulated).

Hi - Hope this is the right location to post this topic. If not, moderators please move it where appropriate. Currently we use two components within our website that offer messaging. I am pushing our community to use IP exclusively, and I will turn off the other messaging system soon. The very basic question came up from a member: if there is no new PM with a pop up and no notification of unread messages, how do I or my other members find the 'messenger?' Okay so today I opened the app store, and I see there's an update to the IPS iPhone App, "great", I think, "I wonder what's been fixed in this version!" (no lie, I read those things) So I open it up, and what I get is this rather unhelpful description of what's changed: I know it's minor minor minor, and I love using the app, it's awesome, and free and all that other stuff which I love, but I'd also like to suggest that you use that space to document a changelog now? Unless I missed a changelog somewhere.. in which case, shoot me now and point me in the correct direction :unsure:
