Matt got a reaction from sobrenome in 4.5 is now released.
Yep! This is a soft launch to a smaller number of customers so we can iron out any issues we find (and we have found some 🤣)

If possible (and it should be) then definitely.
No, this is just for logins. 👍

We're on the case. We're looking to see if it does affect our social log in. If it does, we'll get an update out.

Matt got a reaction from sobrenome in Video Gallery: Compression, Thumbnails & Player
It's on our RADAR. Video is pretty tricky though. We'd need a 3rd party service to transcode the video and stream it at the right resolution for the current device. This would come at a cost of course.

Matt got a reaction from Passingby in Why aren't posts numbered within a thread?
It's just meaningless clutter.
The question comes up now and again, but it really doesn't get a lot of traction from fellow Invision Community owners. You can share the post permalink via the three dot menu, or by the post time link.
We're keen to keep visual noise to a minimum and let the post content be the focus.

So write an article and explain it to them. 😉 I can easily link one post and another from this topic. Other than the “that’s how we always did it”, there really is no advantage in having me retrieve post numbers and then having every user manually trying to navigate to those numbers.

Matt got a reaction from Ibai in Congrats IPS!
If you are using Invision Community 4.5, go to the Mobile App > Settings page, and click Get Started. This allows you to submit your community to our directory, and once approved will show in the Communities app.

I’m using it now. Wow!
What does this mean for our Invision communities? How can I get my own app 😬

Matt got a reaction from Abies in Invision Stories
There's a few barriers here.
The technical: to allow 'stories' to be posted, you'll need a fair bit of storage for the videos, you'll also need a queued system to take in raw video and transcribe it into a more friendly and compressed format which is beyond the reach for most self-hosted sites.
The strategic. No one comes here to see what I'm up to. They come here for help with their Invision Communities, or they come here to post advice for others, or to learn how to manage their communities.
Forums are discussion led platforms. The discussion is the star.
Social media are people led platforms. The person is the star.
Allowing random members to upload stories about what they're doing and so on cross-circuits the purpose of a discussion led platform.
Social media is great at being social medial. Forums are great at being forums.

Matt got a reaction from supernal in Mobile App, Progressive Web App (PWA) For IPB
This won't make it past approval now. It has to be more than a simple wrapper or web view app.

Matt got a reaction from supernal in Mobile App, Progressive Web App (PWA) For IPB
We all view the world through our own filters and biases. Some communities are frustrated that we are not moving PWA forwards because their 90% Android user base could benefit.
Some people hate downloading apps and use the PWA option where available.
It's natural to see the world through your own eyes and assume we all think alike and all have the same experiences.
The reality is that we have tens of thousands of customers who have billions of combined members, so we get a good overview of all needs and wants.
I'm not against doing more with PWA in a future version, it's just that we do not think that Apple will invest much time in their PWA system anytime soon, so for a fully mobile experience the only logical choice is a native app so that is where we have put our development resources.
But of course, everything is reduced to a binary argument. You either do or do not. You are either on one team or the other. The nuances are lost.

Thanks!
It's a great team effort as always, but a special shout out to @Olivia Clarkwho keeps schedules on track, information flowing and generally makes sure we stay organised.
