Correct. What I said is not possible by default in Invision Community right now. I just clarified what you actually need to solve your situation because simply adding support for secondary groups wouldn't work.
Either IPS adds it in a future version (this topic is in the feature suggestions forum) or someone makes a modification for it (I plan on taking a look at it when I have some time).

Not by default a.f.a.i.k. This will require a custom app.

You could leave a topic redirect when moving a topic to another forum, but it wouldn't update info like number of posts, last reply, etc. which I assume is what you'd like to have?
You'd indeed need some custom modification for that.

OptimusBain got a reaction from Ramsesx in menu manager should allow secondary groups
    Hello,
I want to suggest a much-needed feature allowing us to display new main menu entries BASED on secondary groups.
Currently, the software only allows you to display the menu options to the primary groups. However, when the community is used to offering several different products, secondary groups are a MUST. As of now, it's IMPOSSIBLE to choose a custom secondary group; we are forced to select a group from the list (see screenshot) but unable to display the menu entry based on primary/secondary groups.

For this reason, when a new user purchases one of the many products in my community, I CANNOT show a specific menu entry because a new user will always belong to:
Primary group = member Secondary group = ProductX Imagine I want to show a menu option to the user who purchased ProductX? I can't 😞 It's impossible. ACP let us create primary and secondary groups, but we can't display information in the main navigation based on secondary groups.
    Imagine userX buys PRODUCT 1:
UserX added to primary group = member UserX added to secondary group = Product1  An email is sent to him with the purchase and how to access the information, but sometimes the email will land in the spam folder.
I want a primary group = member to SEE the Buy Product1 in the main navigation. Once he purchases the product, his user is added to the secondary group = Product1 However, since he will always belong to the primary group = member, HE WILL ALWAYS SEE the BUY COURSE, but he already purchased the course 😞 This is a big problem. We can create complex menu navigation, but the menu manager will NOT support secondary groups. That forces the users to see information they SHOULD not see.
    For instance:
UserX purchased product1. He should NOT see BUY Product1 in the list of products in the Menu because he already purchased it 😞 How can we tackle this problem? Secondary groups are not supported in many other areas and I was wondering why. If a secondary group is an option (ACP supports it), shouldn't secondary groups BE AVAILABLE as an option EVERYWHERE in ACP?
    Thanks

Happens that general tagging idea changes over time in the community or community gets redesigned. It would be nice to rebuild existing topics to clear existing tags to get a rid of outdated ones.

    Hey,
Some ideas to add to the Commerce system

    1.  To add when setting up a new product the option to enter the cost price for the product and not just the actual price sold to the customer.
This way it will be possible to track the net profit and the actual income of the business by offsetting the cost of the product (maybe even adding it to the reports in the control panel, etc...)
    2. To add icons to products, for example: on sale, holiday sale, deal, etc. (icon on the product image in one of the upper corners)
This will attract customers to buy more and it will be possible to highlight products in sale

    Thnx !

Good day folks, I love the word expansion feature in our community, the only issue I see with it is if I delete a word or acronym that I don't want linked in our content anymore, the html is still left in the content, would it be possible in the future to add an option for us to be able to strip html from content if a word or acronym is deleted at the Word Expansion portal?
Where this option can come in handy, is if I owned a website that I am linking key words too, and I no longer own that website, or I change the domain, then I would be able to delete the word link in the Word Expansion, and or change the word link to direct to another website, also if I have key words linked to an affiliate program, and those links no longer are valid, than it would be nice to have the option to unlink, or delete the word from word expansion in turn stripping the html from that word throughout the community.
Thank you for your consideration 🙂

OptimusBain reacted to Adriano Faria in add possibility of hiding tags for specific user groups
Made a quick plugin and works fine:
    Groups selected:

    My group not selected:

But I got an error when viewing the item (topic, file, blog entry, etc) because it adds the tags as meta data (keywords):
    if( \count( $tags ) ) { \IPS\Output::i()->metaTags['keywords'] = implode( ', ', $tags ); } So I'll have to workaround this. I'll try again in the weekend, probably.

OptimusBain reacted to Luuuk in cannot attach images anywhere in PM or anywhere in IPS
Well, that is the IPS configuration here allowing to mass delete. But the software itself has an option to prevent deleting files from "My Attachment" page:
ACP > Members > Groups > Edit selected group > Content tab > Can delete attachments?
"Attachments are automatically deleted if the content they are attached to is deleted or the attachment is removed from them.
When this option is enabled, users in this group will be able to delete attachments from the My Attachments page. When they do so, anywhere the attachment was used will then contain a broken image or link."

I gave you the direct link but the option itself leading to the link is well accessible:
Expand your profile menu at the top > My Attachments

Good idea. With every new version I see a thread with "locked task". A lot of people forget to update the cron path after changing the PHP version.

I fixed the issue I had this morning. I only needed to change the cron job command line to make it work with PHP 8.0. Thanks a lot
  17. Thanks
OptimusBain reacted to Daniel F in Problem with locked tasks
Can you confirm that you also updated the cron job after switching the PHP version?
Yea, I'm quite sure that it's this. The current command in the ACP to create the cron job points to  /opt/cpanel/ea-php80/root/usr/bin/php

so anything created with PHP7.x would have pointed to /opt/cpanel/ea-php7....
  18. Thanks
OptimusBain reacted to Hatsu in Problem with locked tasks
Depending on your set up for cronjobs it can be that your path in the cronjob (config) still points to the 7.4 executable. If you use Plesk f.e. and you use their menu for cronjobs where you have to provide the absolute path to PHP this can happen. It happened for me when I changed my PHP version and forget about the cronjobs. But you can't see this in ACP.

This message is only displayed while the community is offline.  It is not displayed during an upgrade.  While the site is being upgraded, you would have to set the constants.php variable noted by Matt.

OptimusBain reacted to opentype in How to display or hide content based on user groups
For an image, I would probably just check the user group with PHP and then load an image with that user group as file name.
    {{if \IPS\Member::loggedIn()->member_group_id}} {{$group_id = \IPS\Member::loggedIn()->member_group_id}} <img src="https://myserver.com/assets/group_{$group_id}}.jpg"> {{endif}} Then just upload the images: group_5.jpg, group_6.jpg, group_7.jpg.
Pay attention to caching as well. If the block is cached for all user groups, users would see the wrong images regardless of the PHP check.
The same method could be used to load different blocks based on user groups. It doesn’t have be separate pages.

Thank you for that extra info there, opentype 🙂

OptimusBain reacted to opentype in How to display or hide content based on user groups
You need to create those blocks in the ACP (as Pages blocks) instead of the frontend. That way, you get full permissions for every block. The respective block type is Custom → Editor.
  23. Thanks
OptimusBain reacted to opentype in How to display or hide content based on user groups
    For more complex scenarios, I create the blocks as HTML and then call blocks from within blocks. That would allow more granular permissions or conditions like {{ if in membergroup}} show x {{endif}}

It should, but it’s how it works. You are not doing anything wrong and there aren’t any settings for this.
