Don’t get obsessed over things like compact mode 😀
These new modes are options and you can keep a traditional mode like we have now or experiment with new modes. It’s all just a toggle and you can mix and match to create endless customization possibilities.

You are trying to use spam prevention for access control which is not what it is design to do. You would be best doing this at a firewall or server level.

We believe in the power of an owned community. However, we also believe the age of "my community as an island" is over and it is imperative that community managers engage with the ocean of the wider internet rather than putting walls around their little islands.
We made Community Hive as a step in the direction of allowing your community to be part of a larger network. With that same mindset, it is also why we are opening it up to other platforms.
With the implosion of social media, now is the time to broaden your horizons and avoid putting up more walls.
Community Hive is only one piece of a broader strategy we have that will take time to implement. IPS does not just view itself as a software company churning out a "ye olde forum script." We see ourselves as a community solutions company and solutions can take many forms.

As you may know, Invision Community 5 is currently in development, and progress has been great, with many areas starting to come together.
Almost all of the significant code restructuring has been completed, with much progress on the UI and the new theme bearing fruit. A fair few new features are complete, but some aren't quite ready to show, as they need a little love from Ehren.
I wanted to share a little teaser of Invision Community 5; how many new things or changes can you spot?
    The small print
Please remember that the features, functionality and UI shown in this little teaser are pre-beta, so they are subject to change. The features and functionality shown here aren't all that has been completed; many new features are 'code-complete' but waiting for some UI polish before we're ready to share more. Essentially, what you're seeing is a work in progress.
We don't have a release timeframe in mind yet, but we'll let you know when we do!

I assume we would handle this just like we did for v3, v4.0, v4.1, etc. that have reached end of life. We generally give people a LOT of warning and then finally pick a date way in the future that they have to upgrade. We're talking years though. I am afraid I do not have a clear answer to give you on such specifics that are many years away 🙂
As end of life approaches, you will get a lot more information on how to handle the upgrade. And, of course, by 2025 or 2026, v5 itself will be more mature. We might even be on v6 by then, who knows!

In the next release of Invision Community (coming out in just a couple days) you will be able to add it. You can also do it on the beta release now if you’re feeling adventurous 🙂
