Charles got a reaction from Square Wheels in 4.5: Zapier Brings Integration with Over 2,000 Web Apps
It's not as bad as it seems. You're only charged if Zapier does something for you. Example that we use:
We use Github internally for software development. If something is being added to the software that any of our staff thinks will need extra testing in beta, they add a special beta-test label in Github.
Every single action we do to Github is sent to Zapier for processing. We have rules in the Zapier Zaps that look for our beta-test label. Only if it's seen does an action happen.
So in this case, Zapier might analyze 100 things we do in Github a day but may only take action on one of them (one we labeled beta-test). It's that one we get charged for.
Also, the amount of really cool things you can do with Zapier makes it worth it. I'm not a programmer and I have really cool workflows in place that help bridge all the services we use at IPS to interconnect with our internal site (running Invision Community) so we all know what's going on.

I have actually seen an uptick in interest in RSS from our corporate clients lately. Things tend to come and go in phases.

Charles reacted to Nebthtet in Audience or community?
I find this whole hashtag business so impersonal... On top of that for me it always feels forced and artificial. Probably this is because I've started my adventure with the web around Y2K, so the community aspect looked totally different. Those communities were much more closer-knit and even in larger ones people still acted differently - and this is something I still try to look for and foster although in many cases it's growing more difficult.
Anyway, I think that good example is Serif who have a really fine community where you can ask for tips on how to use the software, suggest new functionality (the devs often respond too). The community shares self-made tutorials, links, their art, etc. It isn't only Serif spamming with links "we made a thing" "here's our tutorial", "here's promo article". They of course have social media presence but use it as an extension not a base.
They also make a damn fine software, that surely helps too 😉

I am really in love with Invision. All things were so simple back in 2004 as I have started with my community. I could do everything from SEO to design myself. Today it is just impossible to keep up with all the changes out there. It became so complicated. Therefore I am so happy that I have you, boys You make my life easier and my community were meanwhile dead without this platform.

Yes of course you can easily add new reactions. It would be kind of restricted if you could not

We will. Which is why we're watching GDPR closely but not knee-jerking a bunch of half baked features into life that may never be needed or used.

We have been doing this for over 16 years and I don't think anyone has ever asked me that ? ... of course our staff never download your data while we are helping you with a support request. That's not a GDPR thing at all that's a case of simple ownership: it's not our data why would we download it?

Obviously I would not tell you to go against your lawyer's advice but I would note the contact us link in the footer is like 5 pixels to the right of the privacy policy link so you know... ?
As I said, the contact us form is basically a "send me an email" form so I do not personally see any GDPR impact anymore than someone just emailing you would have.
