PoC2 got a reaction from Linux-Is-Best in We need webp NOW
Another vote for .webp image files to be shown inline in IPS.
I've started seeing this format crop up on web sites and both Safari and Chrome support it.
Thank you.

If it was me I would consider such a follow up intrusive, especially with better privacy these days.
So +1 for removing redundant invoices.

PoC2 reacted to TSP in default deselect "Let others see that I follow this"
Hello,
Would like to propose that you add an option to have the option "Let others see that I follow this", when following items, deselected by default.
Some users are very privacy oriented and see no reason this is enabled by default as they have to deselect it every time. This should then also affect the "Follow item" checkbox in the reply forms.
Thanks for the consideration

PoC2 got a reaction from crmarks in Instagram embeds not working
If it takes two months every time it changes I can only guess Invision won't bother in the future.
I've had to learn not to rely on it. We adapt.
[Edit: Sounds like a Facebook app. is now needed to make it to work. Can't blame Invision for that with FB adding the extra hurdles. Again we've learnt not to rely on such conveniences. It often comes back to bite you in the years that follow.]

People read the room.
The tone of the room is set by the moderators, not a checkbox or plugin.

PoC2 got a reaction from Thomas Emme in IPS 4.5.4: InnoDB tables are using Compact row format...
Weirdly for some reason our IPS DB rows are a mix of those. I don't know why.
Except alarm bells do begin to ring when it also includes a warning that future upgrades may not work (and we don't know when 4.5.5? 4.6? etc.); we don't have that information.
I think the main issue is clarity. It isn't/wasn't clear whether all table rows should be Dynamic? Some? What DB software version is recommended? etc. I expect IPS don't want to say because of potential liability issues, but the lack of info can be a problem.

7? I dream of 7 Mbps. I'm lucky to get 2 Mbps, and I live in the middle of a town. It teaches bandwidth discipline, though. 😉

PoC2 got a reaction from optrexnz in Everybody is choosing "Night Mode" nowadays....
So I see other forum sites (not using Invision) increasingly offering toggle-based "Dark Mode" and a plethora of users thanking them for it.
Yet sadly we don't see it coming for the front end for Invision Community (just the back). I see 3rd party developers offering such solutions for IC (so it can't be impossible), but not from the actual devs.
Unfortunate.

PoC2 got a reaction from optrexnz in Everybody is choosing "Night Mode" nowadays....
With the number of calls for it from my visitors I'd be tempted to make any official "Dark Theme" the default and the current "white" theme as the alternate option – but that's just my own case.

PoC2 got a reaction from alistairgd66 in IPS 4.5.4: InnoDB tables are using Compact row format...
Update.
I updated our server from MariaDB 10.1 to 10.3 and then had the IPS Db convert rows from 'Compact' to 'Dynamic'. As a result the AdminCP notification has gone and its green ticks all the way.
I guess you're bound to encounter hiccups when your database is nearly 20 years old and has gone through 4 major generations.

Getting the same error, so looking forward to 4.5.5. 🙂
Cheers!

I'd also settle for being able to set the 'New member' badge to t=1 day if that's easier.
Thanks for the input!
Wow, they hardcoded this in without an option. Oh dear.

<sigh>
I think it's great that Invision continue to produce updates and expansions to their software, but I do wish a few more of these new facilities were 'opt-in' rather than essentially forced upon us.

PoC2 got a reaction from MMXII in How to remove 'New Member' badge on Avatar? IPS 4.5
Correct. They could have just added a switch (as they already did for Moderators/Admins). It also helps for ease of doing upgrades to have as few custom changes to the code as possible.
