Hatsu reacted to Stuart Silvester in Marketplace $ symbol issue
It has only been changed for the Marketplace pages in the AdminCP. It makes sense since the prices are in $ USD and should use the expected formatting. The same formatting will be used when you go through the process to pay an invoice (since they load from our servers) so it's logical to have those match and not change from youor local format to US format during checkout.

I doubt it would be the server, it's a HTML entity that's rendered in your browser.
I have changed it to use $ instead.

Thanks! - yes that would be related to the locale. I have made a change so it always uses a . as the decimal for the Marketplace views.

In ACP -> Forum Settings you can choose a Grid Card Image. Have you tried that?

I usually use Pages for this purpose. A category is a course—a record is a Lesson. A problem I run into with this method is that a “category” can’t hold any other information than title and description. There is no category image, no category rating (to rate the course), no custom fields to add additional information about the course. So that is something I would like to see improved. More power to Pages categories.

Which is easily fixed by selecting “Show records like articles” and then choosing a template—even a stock template. That results in a perfectly fine blog layout for the front page.

I also now finally started working on a (commercial) Pages online course which will explain the app in ‘easy to consume’ videos. More details soon. That will remove the excuse of “it’s just too complicated to learn”. 😉

Which means it's practically useless now as it will always be giving false readings - I understand the performance impact issue, but how much of an issue is it if it wasn't an immediately obvious noticeable impact before it was introduced.  If it's cached then how often is the cache updated and would be an idea to give admins an option as to how often it gets updated and allow them to decide what impact on performance it has 🙂

    Hi,
after updating to 4.6.5.1 the WhosOnline widget has stopped working, it shows the number of guests but no longer users - it also doesn't add us to the list.

    Only Redis works ;/

Hatsu reacted to Morrigan in Pages Blocks enhancements
So I have a ton of blocks and well I'm starting to lose control of them and figured it may be a good idea to request some feature enhancements for it so that I can both clean up my blocks and also use them more efficiently.

Of course there is categorizing which is great but sometimes I mis-categorize some of my blocks. This is a particular pain point when you have to look for it on the front end. The enhancements on the front end I'd like are:
Categories collapsed by default when you open the edit bit, this way I don't have to scroll through my massive list of blocks or manually close them until the right category comes up. Ability to search the list like you can search in the ACP, just a quick like "block title" search that filters out any blocks that don't have that title. It would just make life so much easier. Next! I don't know which of my blocks are in circulation and where so trying to clean up, organize and get rid of unused blocks is a nightmare. Right now I see a list of blocks with the code and that's it and since I use a lot of Plugins the title could be repeated. The enhancements I'd like for this:
At minimum I want a count of how many locations that a block is located on the manage screen. Bonus points if you can click on that number and see the locations like: Forums > Index, Page > Test, Gallery > Albums, Gallery > Categories
The physical location doesn't matter (As in sidebar, header or footer) to me as much as the page it exists on.

We've already fixed this issue, but if you're seeing it you can go to <your-url>/admin/upgrade and run the process from there. Effectively, the upgrade has already ran, it just hasn't updated the version numbers for those apps.
For future readers: re-running the upgrader for this specific issue between 4.5.4 and 4.5.4.2 is safe, but if you have any other upgrade issues you should submit a ticket.

Same here. After Upgrading to 4.5.4.2 via automatic update all disabled apps are now locked.
This goes for my live installation as for my dev installation. So disabled apps weren't upgraded. And how do I upgrade them manually?

I’m a Luddite...62 years old and retired from a career in Commercial Art; specifically graphic design. No industry went digital as fast and as completely as the graphic design field. We went from building mechanicals on drafting tables to using computers and Software overnight, starting in the mid 80’s. I developed a severe case of Upgrade PTSD. Back then every upgrade or update of OS, and design software, was wrought with issues. Files wouldn’t open, fonts wouldn’t work, it was always a cluster, and work flow was impacted. We learned to hate Upgrades,
So, in addition to living in the woods of a Maine with extremely glitchy DSL “high speed” internet at a whopping 7 mbps...that’s not a typo. I put off IPB Upgrades and typically ask Support to perform even the most minor ones.
Recently I found myself 15 Upgrades behind...with no SSL Certificate...and my Board of 19 years...again not a typo...(I launched my Discussion Community back in 2002 on Ikonboard) was experiencing all sorts of errors and issues.
I finally contacted Support, and they were responsive and professional and they resolved the SSL Security situation, and the Upgrade(s), and moved my Board to the new Cloud II Server. There are some minor Member issues to work out, and I’m becoming accustomed to the new features, look and functionality, but generally things on Board are snappy and going well.
For someone who isn’t as fluid as many here with the backend of the IPB Suites and Software, and suffers from Upgrade and Digital PTSD,  having the Support team on call is a huge relief. I’m not putting off Upgrades any longer...I promise.

Have you overridden your temporary directory in your constants.php file?

    define( 'TEMP_DIRECTORY', ... );
Normally the files you are referring to are written to the system temporary directory which would be automatically cleaned by the OS as needed. I expect you've overridden where temporary files are located and that explains why you are seeing these. I can't reproduce any issues in local testing presently.
Actually I think I just managed to reproduce so I'm taking a closer look at what we can do.

Hatsu reacted to Sonya* in Pages: Why can we use a custom database only on one page?
This this due to the url. The database itself does not have an URL, only the page. If you place the database on the page with the URL test then your records are reachable through https://www.example.com/test If you place your database on different pages then you would produce duplicate content. Means your database and all records URL would have two or more URLs pointing to the same content.

    Ok....

You can now set a fixed size for resizing images. So, if you wanted images to be no bigger than 600px wide or 600px tall, you can now do that.

    " alt="" class="ipsImage" width="1000px" height="145px">

    " alt="" class="ipsImage" width="1000px" height="651px">

I have also added a "save" button into the lightbox which opens the original image in a new window

After using this software for a bit, and having been pleased with its performance thus far I would like to share my thoughts with people looking for some answers. Hopefully some of my commentary will help potential buyers since it comes from a fellow vbulletin admin.

Just to elaborate a bit before beginning, I've been a vbulletin user for a little over 3 years now on a relatively small forum with a consistent group of posters. It isn't a 'big board' by any means, but over time I've probably used most the features that vbulletin offers. This puts me at an advantage with that software bundle over IP.Board, so if I give kudos to a feature that is 'missing', but isn't actually missing and a user error of ignorance on my part, please chime in and correct me fully.

I know you can't really be objective on some things, and for those instances I've tried to separate them from the facts by italicizing them. Also, this is not at all a comprehensive analysis of the two softwares. Just a collection of points that stood out to me. Hopefully this kind of thing is allowed if done in a non-hostile/polite to other product way, if not then nuke away or move to the appropriate area, if there is one.

    Things in Invision's Favor:

This is based on the 3.0 series of board, after my use of the IP.Suite product that comes with IP.Board/Blog/Gallery
