Day_ got a reaction from ChrisVanMeer in Quick search "This topic" option in mobile view
    And inside this forum.
We used to have it, then the search was given a makeover which moved these options in to a drop down menu that is not shown on mobile, a valuable feature for mobile users and one that's difficult to explain to why it's been removed, which was a long time ago now but still frustrating today.

I would like to request that the quick search filter "This topic" that is available in the desktop browser view, to be also available in the mobile browser view.

Ahhh the old hit counters, brings back memories! Spent many a evening checking back to see if I had any more 'hits' 😂
These days we have Google Analytics though, more accurate even if it's less retro cool looking.

Day_ reacted to Daniel A. in Bring Member Titles Back
I know a lot of people are not happy with this update as member titles have been removed with the most recent update and I am not happy with this either. With member titles, the titles used to display on the staff directory on communities and also on their profiles above their avatars on posts, however after talking to invision support, the only way to get these features back are to create custom profile fields for member titles and add people individually to the staff directory with custom titles as well. This is very inconvenient from what was done before.

Now for my admins to add people to the staff directory and give them a member title for their ranks on posts, they have to add them to their specific group, then change the custom made member title, then add them manually to the staff directory and give them another title that displays on the staff directory. Before, we used to just add the group to the staff directory and then just change their member title. Then they used to display on posts and the directory automatically. Now it just creates a hassle and is very inconvenient to use. Please bring member titles back, it was a great feature to have and overall made the chain of command and structures for my staff and admins very easy to see for new people visiting my site. I want to know what the rest of the clients think because from what I have read previously I am not the only person that feels this way.

Day_ got a reaction from Linux-Is-Best in Option to delete own account
    I would love for this.
At the minute members will send me a PM, I have a ready made reply which gives them 30 days and makes them aware that once deleted, no going back.
If they change their mind they can cancel the request by dropping me a PM again.
After they confirmed they have seen my message and still want to go ahead, I post restrict their account and set a reminder for 30 days.
To have this automated would be great as it feels like I’m being threatened half the time as they don’t agree with a post being pulled or haven’t banned x member.
I take the hardline approach in that look, we don’t hold you hostage, I’m also not begging any member to stay.
Automated system would work like this in my mind.
Once they click delete account, show a customisable notice that has a timer where they can’t click submit for 30 seconds or something so notice is read and they are aware of this is irreversible.
Let admins select a cooldown period length, during which disables their account, can’t post, use PM’s. If they attempt to it opens up a would you like to reactivate your account notice.
Allow admins to choose what happens after the cooldown period, to remove all content, assign posts to anonymous or the username but close account.
This would be huge for me personally.

Should we be getting daily big red notices for beta releases on our frontends and in the admin panel? Running v4.5.4.2 but it also says that 4.5.4.2 is included in this update, kinda confusing when I'm already running that.

If I recall correctly you used to add a line to the config file to run beta updates through the admin panel, just looked and I can't see it there.
    <?php $INFO = array ( 'sql_host' => '', 'sql_database' => '', 'sql_user' => '', 'sql_pass' => '', 'sql_port' => , # 'sql_socket' => '', 'sql_tbl_prefix' => '', 'sql_utf8mb4' => , 'board_start' => , 'installed' => , 'base_url' => '', 'guest_group' => , 'member_group' => , 'admin_group' => , );

Day_ reacted to Nathan Explosion in Hump Day: 4.6 Beta 3 is live!
No, you add a line to the constants.php
define( 'USE_DEVELOPMENT_BUILDS', true ); Remove it, or set it to false, if you don't want to be notified about betas etc.

Only if you have betas enabled. Check your constants.php file for use dev builds constant.

Yeah I’m not a fan of these icons over the profile pictures, I get I’m not the most handsome man out there, but I work with what I have, covering me up with an icon gives me insecurities about that side of my face.
The above might not be totally serious, but I can confirm I’m not a fan. If we are going down that route of covering our pretty faces, an online indicator would be more useful than displaying whatever achievement I’m up to.

As the title suggests, if I restrict a member from posting for 30 days that should also restrict them from reacting to posts, or at least have an option to disable.
Had a couple of members now taking their frustration out by trolling the moderators with reactions following their temporary restrictions. Work around has been to move them into different groups where they can make 0 reactions a day, but would be nice as I say to have that as an option.

Not wanting to get anyones backs up with this but I've read all 3 pages and feels like IPS are under attack here, maybe justifiably so in some cases, but just wanted to chime in and go against the grain, I'm happy with IPS terms and conditions and have no issues keeping an active licence for your continued development and support.
11 years in having been through vBulletin, Xenforo to get here my members have never been happier with the platform.
My forum is monetised well and covers all costs, renewal fees are just part of the outgoings to ensure my community is refreshed with new features and security fixes.

There are some differences. XF-Staff reviews nothing and you can't buy addons there, you are always redirected to the devs website.
The result are funny things like THIS. User buys an addon, gives a bad rating and the dev doesn't give him access to the download anymore
