I have really got to say that I am disappointed with the overall offerings of IPB 2.2. The changes that were made were absolutely necessary and I agree with many of them. The text size in the RTE, the RTE improvements itself, the simplification of the RTE, all make 2.2 a worthy upgrade. However, it has really still left me disappointed with just how little has changed. There are also problems with the RTE. When you insert a URL into the post, an continue to type text after the inserted URL, it all goes into the URL no matter what. You cannot end the hyperlink by starting a new word, even after inserting blank space or line breaks. I had to toggle HTML source option to phy…

Whenever I try to access the IPS Company Forums, I get a 403 Forbidden Error every so often. It's been happening all throughout the day for me today. I don't know what the problem is, either. It is very aggravating, too, because now I am getting it every couple of minutes and keep having to refresh, and when I do, the forums are all messed up and everything! Boxes like this keep popping up when I'm on this site (no others). Is it just a temporary thing or what ? It makes using the forum a little annoying as the page stops working until the box is closed.

It's not defaulting to toggle the side panel. Insert Special Item is back, as well as quick access - not working - I'm not keen on them anyway just that pointing out. Next, previous buttons are have returned on the emoticons menu. :( It is permanent? I thought they were making progress on it after the mess it was in first place. PS, the RSS image is rather large at the bottom of the forums >_<

E-mail notification when user validates mail, NOT when user registers

Hello, I require everyone who registers to first validate their email, then an admin validates the registration. Some users never validate, others wait for weeks. As things are now I receive a mail when the user registers but no mail when the user validates. So I have to check back regularly to see if someone hasn't validated. It would be nice to have an option allowing me to receive notification when the user validates instead of when the user registers. Kind regards Michael

Hi. In the 2.2.0 Beta in the Editor there's this "Insert Link..."-Button. Would it be possible that the content of the clipboard is shown there as a suggestion instead of the plain "http://"? Normally I have the complete link already stored in the clipboard (i.E. from the browser) when editing... Dombo

Upgrade Problem

Ok I know it was stupid to upgrade on a Live Board, but since this forum did and it worked then I figured it would work. I installed all the upgrade files and such in the correct folders. I started running the upgrade system and it seemed to be working fine. Then all of a sudden I got this message Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: db_driver_mysql in /home/dellboy1/public_html/forum/sources/ipsclass.php on line 781 I have no clue so I did something and got a different message (forgot what it was), but it had to do with that same file. Is there something wrong with the file itsself or am I doing something wrong? I really need to get my board back up…

I'm using the Firefox 2.0 RC2 hourly build 2006100412 along with the NoScript extension. When viewing the new IPB 2.2.0 beta 2 forum with JS enabled I get 404 Not Found errors if I do the following 1) Click on either the "Forum Options" or "Options" drop-down button (below the "New Topic" button) to bring up the drop-down menu. 2) Move the mouse cursor ** New window/tab opens with the following error No error occurs when JS is disabled. No error occurs with IPB 2.1.7 with JS enabled, so I assume this is a new bug with IPB 2.2.0 beta 2.

I realize that IPB 2.2.0 beta is at a late stage in development but am hoping that some/all of these suggestions can be included in IPB 2.2.0 1) Result Type always defaults to "Show results as topics". I prefer to have them shown as posts. vB allows all available search settings to be saved for each user so that they are remembered. 2) When browsing a forum, the Search Forum/Topic editbox and button is displayed near the bottom of the page. Can this also be displayed near the top of the page (eg. Just below the New Topic button) to save having to scroll to the bottom of the page to perform a search. 3) Related to (2), when using the search box near the end of the page …

Hi, I tried to register on the Invision Power forums at http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php but after filling out all the relevant details (ie. Username, Password, Email Address and Security Code Confirmations) followed by clicking on the "Submit my registration > >" button, the same page just reloads with the Password section flagged with a red banner saying "The password section is incomplete" The password section tips said the password should be between 3 and 32 characters, and my password was 30 characters. So I'm not sitting on my hands... #1) How do you allow "UNION" for a certain query? I think I may need it, but if I don't I'll find a work around... in the thread above its got the options for existing customers, how about if we are new customers when this new price structure comes in?? i hear theres no perpetual license any more????? only a yearly option, how much is this yearly option and renewal of yearly option after new pricing structure?? what is the best way to go? get a perpetual license now or wait until new pricing structure??

I don't suppose there are any improvements in the 'manage validating' service in 2.2? As it is I need to have 3 different windows open (one containing the list of users pending validation, one to view their profiles, and one to check their IP address), requiring flipping back and forth. I wish at least that the validating window could provide links to their profile and to their IP information. Preferrably though perhaps some IP information could automatically be displayed when viewing the pending-validation list, such as other users sharing his or her IP address, or the number or a list of those sharing a matching range (like xxx.xxx.xxx.*).

Hello, I have 2 questions about this bete board. 1. How do I enable that cool looking rss icon at the bottom of my board by the skin selecter? 2. Will I be able to upgrade my forum from bete version to the final version. Everyone says the forum becomes inactive after so long. Well I released my site with this bete version so will I be able to upgrade my board to the final release or will I be screwed and lose all my topics and users and will have to do a fresh install?

It's clear that Matt and the InvisionPowerBoard staff are making a valiant effort at making IPB look better. That's excellent, and I, for one, appreciate it.
