  1. Way to "Sink" volatile threads?

I don't believe that's a stock feature. But it might be possible via an add-on.
  2. IPB Forum Index Layout...

I like the grid layout, too. Was a bit weird at first because it's not how forums are usually laid out, but I agree with some others that it can also provide some more at-a-glance information, which can be useful. However, I do think it works better on message boards with many forums. Smaller boards or those that prefer to have a fewer number of forums might still be better served with the more traditional list format.
  3. It will be released on February 30th.
  4. [B7a] Removing rounded corners

It seems to have worked exactly like how I wanted. Thanks.
  5. [B7a] Removing rounded corners

I'll try that, thanks. I remember doing something similar for the 3.x releases.
  6. Not sure if this is the place to post this or not... What do I need to change in the CSS to remove all rounded corners? When I inspect elements, I get a reference to .ipsType_sectionTitle, but can't find this anywhere in the templates or CSS.
  7. Line Spacing

I did notice there seemed to be "extra" line spacing when I hit "Enter." As in, it did look a bit odd at first because I think older releases of IPB handled line spacing differently. But then I got used to it, and now things look just fine. I also didn't know I could "Shift+Enter" for a single line break, which is good to know. I have to agree with the majority here, though, that it seems pretty natural to put a double line break between paragraphs. That's how I've always written things out.
  8. Regarding customer support.

You're going to hear from vB customers that IPS and XenForo support is arrogant. You're going to hear from IPS customers that vB and XenForo support is arrogant. You're going to hear from XenForo customers that vB and IPS support is arrogant. You often get back from support what you put in. If you submit a topic full of anger, shouting and threats, yes, you might not get a support member in the best mood. But this has never been the case for me. I've not dealt with support a lot, but when I have, they've been quite friendly and helpful.
  9. Mass replacement of word strings

I know I can do that, but it's still a case-by-case basis. There is no way to specifically isolate and select all instances of any particular word or word string and then have it mass replaced with something else. It's nothing particular critical, but I often make many minor edits within the various word packs, and being able to mass alter certain spellings of words has its uses, at least for me.
  10. Unless I can't find it, I'm kind of surprised there is no way to be able to select all instances of a word or word string, and then replace it with something else in one easy step. For example, in vBulletin, I can search for all textual instances of "e-mail" and then, in one step, change them all to "email" or anything else I want. I cannot seem to do this in IPB at the moment and think such a feature would be useful.
  11. Sell me on IPS hosting.

Okay, that's good news. Thanks for the info, I may consider cloud hosting in the future.
  12. Sell me on IPS hosting.

Hmm... Not really a fan of encoded files. Will that limit me to any potential mods I might want to add?
  13. I've been getting the urge to try my hand at running a very small forum again. In the past, I've used third-party hosting, which has always been fine, no problems at all. But ultimately, all I need is space for my forum, since I have no plans to run a full-scale website. Anyway, what does IPS hosting offer in terms of space and future-proofing? As long as I pay for hosting, is that the same thing as my license being auto-renewed? Are there any content limitations on what IPS will and will not host? If I buy a domain name, can I get it pointed to the forum? Thanks for any info.
  14. vBulletin to IPB

I believe IPS offers a conversion service, at least I think they did at one point.
  15. The editor is ckEditor, which I do believe uses Flash and/or JavaScript. When that doesn't load, the software falls back to a plaintext input console like the one you're seeing.
