Reply suggestions

Might be 'bloat' but just came up with idea: User can choose what buttons they want for the fast-reply. Admin can also restrict some buttons from being choosen. They may also select the emotions they want to see.Moderation option: Add what a moderator can do (normal add reply post), in quick-reply [drop down-box]. They may "also" choose what they want to see in the drop-down box.If possible, have a option (for fast/add reply) to see your most selected buttons only. Example for #3: I use bold and slanted the most, If I wanted (may also be a admin option), I can choose to only load those buttons when I (quick)reply. Somewhat similar to Microsoft Word. It puts your most us…

More SQL informations on admin page ?
by Guest ErwinB- 0 replies
- 1.1k views
Actually on the main admin page, the only SQL information displayed is the SQL server version. I think it may be usefull for some user or for technical support to show a bit more informations like the table type used (MyISAM or InnoDB), the MySQL API used (mysql or mysqli). You can get these informations in conf_global.php but a quick overview of these settings may be good. Just a suggestion.

2.2 Skins
by Guest Stec- 0 replies
- 1.3k views
I want to try out the minor improvement "Applying image sets and skins during import" but I am unable to find a skin that is made for 2.2 yet plus I just want to make sure everything is working since it is a beta. Does anyone know if someone made a skin for 2.2 or tweaked a 2.1 version to work with 2.2 and where I can get one?

Auto "mark forums on leave"
by Guest Strange_Will- 0 replies
- 1.1k views
This really NEEDS to be done, all other forums do it :P Comeon all the cool kids are doing it! Anyway, I'm serious though, it's a small amount of code, and damn do my users get confused when they read a few threads, leave, come back, and it's still all unread. I'd love to have this option.

Attatchments problem
by Guest theclub- 2 replies
- 1.4k views
l made a post and added two .gif attatchments. When l posted, the gif's were thumbnails, even though the settings in ACP say to show images. No amount of refreshing or deleting temp files made any difference, however, when l clicked on 'Quick Edit' and back again, the images show. The next time l went into the thread they were thumbnails again, and once again l had to use 'Quick Edit' to correct it, and that's how it still is.

No idea why my topic was locked. All I was asking is if from peoples experiences with this new version is that are the claims of better security against bots true?

Why the additional My Friends pop-up?

Why have an additional "My Friends" link in the memberbar, instead of adding it as a tab under My Assistant..?

Remove the black bar from resized images 1 2

It looks horrific. If there's going to be some sort of notification, can't we just have a line of regular text (perhaps italics?) underneath it?

add "find topics" by member
by Guest forums.bd- 18 replies
- 5.1k views
Well, this is totally new system. i noticed when clicking on user names there's few options including find posts by the user, so if its not a really big thing, it would be great if you can add "find topics" by member.

Board Offline message
by Guest Sinistra- 3 replies
- 1.8k views
this would be a great addon. something added below the member bar in a red box like the forum rules saying "sitename board offline" This will keep those that can seethe board when off line from posting. or disable posting abillities when the board is offline. Most sites like I do probibly turn the board offline to upgrade the board. and when you have someone post it will pospibly mess up the database so it would be a good addon.

Firefox spell checker does not work in rich text editor
by Guest Gogf- 2 replies
- 1.5k views
I'm not sure if this a Firefox issue or an IPB issue, but the nifty new Firefox spell checker doesn't work when rich text editor mode is enabled. I've been using the RTE on here lately, because the font size more closely enables what a post will look like once I have posted it. That's a great new feature, but the spell checker is preferable. Anyway, it's possible that this is a Firefox issue, or an issue with the way that rich text editors work, but I thought I should point it out.

Taking the sting out of new pricing 1 2 3
by Guest K. T. Walrus- 52 replies
- 15.4k views
I'd like to suggest that you run a "Great Perpetual License" blowout sale since these licenses are soon to be extinct. Say, "Perpetual Licenses for $99!" or something like that. Just a suggestion... This would take the sting out of the new license price increases. I found out yesterday that you no longer offer discounted licenses for those that hold 2 or more licenses. I'm going to be in need of another license in 6 months and I had figured it would cost me $40/year like my old yearly license did. That apparently is no longer the case. You need to hold 5 or more licenses to get any kind of discount (yikes!). Now, it looks like I need to pony up $149 (if I wait unt…

My Assistant Auto-refresh
by Guest RoninHBH- 0 replies
- 1.6k views
I use IPB in my company intranet for communication. We are looking for a new method to chat and send emails/messages within company without using internet connections. There is but a problem: Whenever a PM is sent, the receiver doesn't notice right away until he/she click on another link. The way we use it, not every one will refresh the page every minute. If you have used D21-Shoutbox, you will notice the way they refresh shoutbox every 3-10 secs to update shoutbox. Is there a way you can make My assistant to refresh every 3-60 secs so it can update new PMs? This is a interface demo for My Assistant POP UP: -------------------------------------------------------------…

Secure only Login form via SSL
by Guest lorio- 3 replies
- 1.9k views
Implement a separate url setting for login urls into the ACP. That way the login process could be done via ssl without having every board page secured via ssl. Nobody seems to use SSL with Boards at all. At least Mods and Admins should use SSL to protect their passwords better. Thanks for reading!

Thread views not showing up properly

My guess is that this has to do with an automatic job at a certain time that updates the topic views, but I thought I'd be safe and post it:

"View topic" in profile
by Guest Gogf- 6 replies
- 1.9k views
When viewing a user's profile, it lists topics that the member has started. That's all well and good, but the link to that topic is rather inconspicuous. Wouldn't it make more sense for the big bold topic title to be a link to that topic? The same is true for the "replies" section. Additionally, this section should be renamed to "posts." As it is, it sounds like these are either replies to the member's topics, or replies to the member's profile.

Save like in gmail
by Guest nicoo- 7 replies
- 2.7k views
It would be usefull to be able to save a topic if you have not the time to finish it right now. Of course others wouldn't be able to see that post. I use that feature quit often in gmail, because it is easy and fast to use, and I can continue were I left writing, when I come back. It also make me feel safe that a long post won't get lost by a Windows crash or the like, especially when I make a long post. Gmail has even a auto-save feature since a week now.
