Posting this in response to this tracker entry. Whether or not members of a forum are allowed to have animated avatars should be a choice for the board admin imo, particularly since the reasons for removing it are to do with how the forum index/board index are skinned and the confusingness thereof. Design decisions should not be a reason to remove functionality/limit the scope of a feature that many board owners find enhances the experience in their community. Doing so needlessly bottlenecks those forums who choose not to use the default design. It should be feature decisions that inform the design of the forums not the the other way around.

I've taken the time to read over some of the feedback topics so that I can condense them all into this. I believe I can say that at this time I'm speaking for most of the IPB customers. Before I continue I would like to the let the IPB staff know that I'm not in any kind of way attempting to cause unrest in the community beyond a civil and polite disagreement. While a lot of your members like the changes done to IPB in the 3.2 version there are quite a large number which do not like the way its headed (I'm also speaking for myself). Hi The "Total Posts, Members, Newest Member, Most online" certainly seems to be too simple and plain. Why not put it all in some stylish good rectangular box and make it look good. I will be using the Default 3.2 skin in my future forum and would definitely like a good looking thing which shows those 4 things.

I have seen several locked posts here lately and they all say basically state the same thing - YOU POSTED IN THE WRONG FORUM ( i am paraphrasing ) and Although written respectfully kind of seems impersonal - and some of the posters are veterans having hundreds of post counts. Why take the time to publicly out the person, and not just move the post, to the appropriate forum. IPB has a feature that allows mods move threads ;) It would be nice if the there were a "Reason for move" sent to the author via message, when you move it.

it would be nice to have custom webpage icon (and custom title) when users save their forum to their IOS home screen right now it just displays a portion of the last safari page. http://developer.apple.com/library/safari/#documentation/appleapplications/reference/safariwebcontent/configuringwebapplications/configuringwebapplications.html So we can brand our own icon to the home screen.

The removal of the ability for users to have avatars hosted offsite is a decision which I am strongly against. Hosting images offsite allows board admins to ration the amount of space they have on a particular server more effectively. For example I allow people on one of the sites I manage to post attachments to their posts. At the same time I also only allow them to link their avatars from an external source (like imageshack or the like). This allows me to ensure that the only space being used on the server is for attachments (since some of them can be up to 2-3 MB in size). These email notifications need a link back to the status update not the notification settings. Every time I get one of those emails I click on the link and get taken to the settings so then I click on the icon at the top and then the status that I was notified of. The link in the email should take you directly to the status.

In IP.Board 3.2.0 I recall that we get to choose which one we would like to choose when were upgrading our boards. Now I have not heard on it for a while so I thought I ask were and when do we get to choose which one we would like to keep during upgrade or has it been predone for us when we upgrade. If the latter could there be a image post on it please?

1) One additional level of annual purchase. Currently at $39 for 50 users (free, 19, 39, 79) how about a $59 level for 100 users. I usually average about 30 - 40 users on our organzied chats. I went with 50 as the jump to 250 is a lot more money and a lot more people. I would have purchased a 100 level for $59 and wonder if others would do the same. Not sure if it would increase revenue (from people like me) or decrese those that do the 250 but may only need 100. As I understand it correctly, currently IPS Marketplace only processes payments through PayPal. I and I would imagine others, would like to be able to use alternatives besides PayPal. Google Checkout ( http://checkout.google.com ) is easy not only easy to use, but fast, secure, and their fees are far less. Alert Pay ( http://www.AlertPay.com ) is The Canada version (similar) of PayPal, but more secure and less fees These are only 2 examples and of course there is a wide range of alternatives

Sad Panda here When moving a topic from a forum into the same forum, a funny message used to pop up. There are more and i know, it isn't NEEDED, but the first time I saw the error message the forum spit back, I almost spit out my coffee :lol: I hope this tradition will live on :)

since the ip board android app uses the ombile skin i wonder if there sould be an option for the app in case we have ip.content as main site index. Since the mobile skin does not displays nicely on the mobile skin...maybe the app should automatically start on the forum index

In order to encourage participation on my forums, I normally enable moderated guest posts. I wish there was an option that would let me: a) prevent guests from posting links. b) prevent guests from posting images. I do have the time flood thing enabled, but still a pain having to delete porn and viagra posts, even if they're invisible. Perhaps an idea for a mod, although I see to recall that one did exist...

So what I have seen thus far of 3.2 Beta 1 has been pretty good, except for the drop down menus in the ACP. This really needs to be changed IMO. It makes is much harder to traverse in the deeper hierarchy in some apps and it is really hard to just "scan through" your options. I am consistently flipping through a ton of drop down menus trying to find the specific tab I am looking for, it is severely reducing my efficiency... I know it is kinda late for this big of a change, but if something could be done, I would appreciate it greatly. EDIT: Nevermind! I found the toggle for the sidebar!! Yay, I love 3.2 again! Many of the permissions are written in the positive affirmative... Can Do this? or Can Do that? By making the text of these options written in the positive action it makes it much easier to mentally quantify the actions being taken, its a boolean toggle. Turn ON or OFF the function when the initial verb is the negative action if seems like a double negative. These seem Negative to me: Remove Status Update ability? I earnestly searched for a topic or feedback about this issue before starting this topic. No luck. I have noticed in the notifications, be it for a topic I am following or a new comment on a blog, that the notification I receive only takes me to the main page, be it the blog entry or the topic itself, or the marketplace for the modification. What this means is I have to pursue two or three more steps to go to the last unread topic which is annoying and very involved. Is this by design or is this a bug? Ref: This is not only a feature on a rival premium forum software, but many free forum softwares also have this as a feature. I don't believe this would be a big job to add. Ideally, the admin should have the option to enable/disable this... Potentially with two grace periods. If a forum post is edited within the first grace period, the 'Edited by...." text is optional (or simply does not display (easier to code?)). After that time, and if selected by the admin as required, the "Edited by...." text should show. Pretty please. It's such a simple yet very effective means of keeping track of change without exposing human errors that are corrected almost instantly.

I can see, that feature has been removed in 3.2. Why on earth was it bothering anyone? It's a very useful feature. It simply lets me know, if I'm replying to a wall, or if the OP is actually out there.
