I ask this because I'm being told by IPS support that they "can use 5.5, it doesn't support innodb fulltext search, in which is recommended" while trying to upgrade. They want to know if I would like to continue stating that they can or I can update to 5.6 which is preferred. Well I use GD as a host and they only support 5.5. I guess I will lose the "innodb fulltext search" without having 5.6. I'm not sure what that is. Live search? If so...is it that big of a deal? I know I like it in my ACP. Hi, Is it possible to limit the permissions so that a member can only contribute to group blogs? From my testing it seems that you need to enable the ability to create new Blogs in order for a member to make any Blog Entry. Thanks for any guidance. I am new to setting up a Blog and want it to be organized from the start. Tips welcome.

For those that have Referrals active. What happens when someone signs up under a refer ID for a SUBSCRIPTION/MONTHLY PAYMENT system? Do they: 1. Get paid only on the first month OR 2. Get paid for each month the person is a member Really curious to know the answer to this and how payouts work etc. Thanks!

I note on IPS4 when a username is clicked by a Guest, the profiles are public. Is there a way to ensure when a name is clicked the Guest is not given permission to view member profile? The member name via the 'Who's Online' feature. Thank you.

Adding emoticons seems broken on my site somehow. When you click on the icon to open the emoticon window, it is sectioned into groups like "core_emoticon_group_emotions-bd" and "core_emoticon_group_default" - these are weird titles to show members. What does that mean, and why are the emoticons not appearing, just blank spaces? Thanks for any guidance.

I upgraded to 4. recently and am still learning where everything is. Something I would like to do is use the database category description as an overview of what is in that section. However the description is restrictive (I think its 400 characters) any idea how I could expand the size?

I had the desirable feature (v3.4.7) of not allowing a particular sub forum to be shown in the old "View new posts" . We have just upgraded to v4.1.18.2 Can anyone please advise on how to block from view a particular sub forum in the new version's "Unread Content" feature. Thanks in advance Mike

How do I remove all the social media options from within topics. Seems to me, if a user clicks facebook, it selects the very first message in a topic. I want to send something that someone else said. Otherwise it's pointless and my elderly users won't use it because even I don't understand it.

Hello, since 3 days now I am trying to install InvisionPower having no real success. A few details: I have a managed webspace aswell a windows VPS at OVH. Since I need the VPS to have access to the database used by Invision and OVH doesnt allow external access to webspace databases I need to have MySQL on the VPS. I previously installed Invision having DB and files on the same host which worked fine however as soon as the DB is on the WIndows VPS the problem starts: VPS is Windows Server 2012 R2 64 bit I tried MySQL 5.6 aswell 5.7. Hello, I'm doing something along these lines of the poster below, but I own and host both domains and have access to both the php install and the database. I would like to use the database we have going on one site and thought I had done the transfer rather effortlessly, but then I moved the API key from one site to another (it was transferred with IPS) and though my adminCP comes up on the new site I'm getting a server 500 error for the public-facing forum. I've checked my conf_global.php to ensure the values are correct there. What else might I be missing?

I sell tickets to soccer games via Pay Pal. I usually do this by posting a block using the WYSIWYG block and then a block beneath it using HTML only for the Pay Pal button. This is the third game where by I put these blocks up, test them and they work, then some time later the Pay Pal button stops working. I usually just redo it. I can't really leave it up broken for people to look at, because we are linked to by the national association and it isn't that big a deal to fix. But it might be a symptom of something causing people mysterious problems.... I'll try setting up a test block in another part of the site and see if i can replicate it before…

Working on a site that had a rather epic level of spam posts. I have deleted these, but they still show up in the Activity stream for Unread Content. For example, an article with a spam comment. When you go to that article the comment is indeed gone, but it still shows up in the Activity stream. I would assume, no matter how much time goes by, anyone who has read everything else, this will show up for them. Is there any way to wipe this stuff out of the Activity Stream? Thanks JM

A query if I may... Is there a way to set up a no reply header for things such as Private message alerts etc. Currently, there doesn't appear to be an option that will stop members replying to a notification email. It's not a huge issue, but when I set the incoming address to noreply@clubcuddly.org it still allows me to reply to the email received by the outgoing email address. While I don't consider it a priority, it would be a nice feature. Regards, Neville. ClubCuddly Webmaster.

I don't want my users to have the post html permission - however, I have some users that liked using the 'marquee' tag (don't ask). I've set it all up correctly in the ACP - however it does not get inserted in the editor, not sure what I'm doing wrong? Would they have to have the post html permission to do this?

Welcome, I can't change pages in topics (move to next, previous, click selected page) after activation of SSL (Let's encrypt). How can I fix it? I know that disabling AJAX pagination in theme option changes that but I do not think it's only way... I want it turned on. Thanks for any help.

When a user try unsubscribe and have a error message, the mail shows te text with the <a href= tag. Example: We could not find your account in order to unsubscribe you from emails. If you have recently altered your email or password, the unsubscribe link may have expired. You can alter your notifications settings from your <a href='www.website.com/index.php?app=core&module=system&controller=notifications&do=options'>control panel</a>. The link point to https://www.website.com/notifications/options/?do=options' and shows the notifications list, no the notifications settings.

I setup and enabled an Amazon S3 bucket for file storage. However, when I set something like "attachments" to be stored on the S3 location / method, the images don't appear in my articles. Looking further into this, the image path is incorrect within the article. The files are written to the correct S3 Bucket Path. The links in my articles are just using the S3 path without the Bucket Path / folder name. Issue: IPS isn't paying attention to the Bucket Path setting in the Storage Method configuration when reading / displaying the files.
