Hi folks, We are debating creating our user documentation for our customers in the pages / content section. We are an open-source project so people are encouraged to contribute, and it seems like this feature has revision tracking, moderator approval, etc. - great stuff for a community articles section. However I noticed the editor is fairly restrictive - no custom HTML, not even emojis apparently are allowed, limited formatting. Is there a way to allow articles to have custom HTML? It seems like I can add additional fields of type "text" but that doesn't allow HTML. Ideas welcome.

I am building a social learning community and just purchased IPBoard. I have 3 distinct topic groups and will have three different membership programs. One is Monthly Enrichment, the next a Foundation Course and the final one is Culture. I want a distinct forum for each because I want each to be restricted. I created a main form and then created 2 subforums. I do not know if that is the right approach and if it is how do I display them on the site. All of these forums are on one site. Hi.. its me again I have this product and its got a black image as you can see. I know I can upload another image which will replace that and be relevant to the product ( sponsorship of a forum) HOWEVER... there will be about 180 of these forum sponsorship products so as you can imagine finding 180 different images and uploading them will be a nightmare and cost me a small fortune off shutterstock or wherever. So can it be removed or at least made to look prettier??? Thanks if you can help. A glass of wine your way of course :-)

Is there a way or a mod that will say, notify via SMS or FB messenger that someone has a new message or was quoted or some such? I've actually had more than one user ask for this surprisingly. Seeing as how at least on my board basicly everyone is on FB to begin with and just "dabbles" on the forums from time to time when one to many cat pictures shows up in their feed. lol

Hello, I have a question regarding custom profile fields on the registration page. For almost a year now, I have had a Select Box (drop down menu) on my registration page called "Game" with 5 different games listed. Upon registration, the user selects their game via the drop down menu. It is a required field. After a recent update to IPS software, this profile field has stopped working. No matter what option the user selects, it no longer displays in their profile. I have setup a forum which is to be used as a 'Member Support Forum' that only the admins, moderators and the member can view and reply too. In the Forum Settings I have disabled 'Users can see questions asked by other users?' which more or less works. However, while Admins and the Member can see their posts and reply, my moderators cannot see any posts expect for their own. How do I give moderators the ability to see and reply to topics and posts by other members in when 'Users can see questions asked by other users' is disabled in a forum?

I am trying to get Google Maps to display in Pages. I have set up a custom field using the Address 'Type' in the 'General Options' tab, and enabled 'Show Map' within the 'Display Options' tab. Display View Format is set to No Formatting. I have created the google API key required for Google Maps and the settings for this has been done correctly (No errors anyway). The code in the Record template used is: {$record->customFieldDisplayByKey('venue-address', 'display')|raw} The 'venue-address' is the variable I used as the Template Key. Yesterday my site went down due to "using too many resources" on my server which has never happened before and was not caused by my members. I contacted my host and they said that I had "extremely high traffic" and several bots were crawling my site and the forum had literally thousands of page hits per minute so the server automatically shut down my forum, this continued for several hours and I have now been placed in a "penalty box". My question is since I understand after doing a search here that IPS 4 no longer uses or needs a robots.txt file so how do you prevent this from happening again and stop these bots? Hello, I'm trying to setup the login handlers for google+/Facebook/twitter. I'm follow the guide... but on all 3 social media's after importing the details i'm receiving this error. I posted this in the customization resources forum but figured I'd post it here too. Is there a way to make the first post in a topic a post you can pin? I also want to make that post show on every page but not have that post refresh. What I'm looking to do is embed a live video in the first post (sports for example) and have it where that post always shows at the top of the screen even if the user scrolls down. I want my users to be able to watch the game and discuss with other members without having to refresh the video each page.

At the moment it's set to "nofollow" Yet I was thinking to chnage it so that there be more guests commenting and higher traffic. Dear All I have a standalone licence version of 4.2 which I installed on my server. All working well. I now want to upgrade it to the latest beta. Instructions say I can create a constants.php file with the following therein define( 'USE_DEVELOPMENT_BUILDS', TRUE ); I've done that, but the site won't load - all I get is a screen of random characters. Deleting the constants file repairs it. But how do I upgrade the beta without wiping the server and starting again? Many thanks Bill

Hello, I was wondering if it is possible to change the date format in IPB. Currently it's displayed on the forums Month/Day/Year. In my country it is the other way around Day/Month/Year, so using the ipb format is really awkward for my community in relation to events as the dates are displayed incorrectly.. Thanks in advance

I have 4 IPB sites on two different servers, recently any file over 1mb gets all the spaces replaced with underscores. I'm assuming this may be a server setting but I can not seem to narrow it dowwn. Anyone else having this issue? It happens sitewide (forums, downloads). So Sample Filename Demo.mp4 becomes Sample_Filename_Demo.mp4

Hi, i have a community site from 2002 that has always been an IPS community. After so many updates since the first IPS version, some things got odd, such as some inconsistencies. One of them is the number of members. When i run a SELECT COUNT(*) on the members table, i get 31880 members. In the ACP, in the tables lists, it shows: core_members 30028 InnoDB Which one is right? Is there any hidden recount feature so that i can be sure of how many members i have?

Hello, As I said above, when someone want to approve status in moderator queue, it just gives an error: We cannot find page you have requested. Error code: 2C138/5 It happens only to status updates.
