@Mr 13 We've actually optimized all images in the suite too; the default coverphoto image is now ~280KB. Also, cover photos across the suite are indeed lazy loaded too.
@Joel R Yes there's a background task that will clean up the existing letter photos.
For developers, I wanted to add that our lazy loading utility is very flexible, so you can actually use it to lazy load whatever you want, and pretty finely control what happens (with preload, load and post-load callbacks). We hook into IntersectionObserver which is a new(ish) API in browsers that make it super efficient to check when an element comes into view. Of course, our regular content controllers already handle lazy loading images and videos in UGC for you, but if your apps have other areas where it'd be useful, you can do that quite easily 🙂

It's actually less necessary there because we end up with one single image file (which the browser will download once and cache) for all default cover photos, and then we overlay it with a randomized color - thus you don't have 100 image files downloading, just one (and only if it hasn't already been downloaded).

I finally got around to watching all of "It's a Wonderful Life" at the weekend, and I really recommend it.

You know, if you ever visited my website, you'd probably remark how boring it is.  I have some forums.  I have some galleries.  I have some clubs.  I went fancy and added my own logo! It's the same technology, platform, and tools as every other IPS client.  
But I think the real magic is hidden beneath the surface in the everyday forum posts, about activating members, engaging with them through thoughtful conversation, creating emotive experiences, and building shared experiences.  These are things that any IPS client can do with the tools that are provided, and where I think a good community manager shines.  You take the platform, and build a community by people for people on top of the platform.  At the end if the day, the platform can't a surrogate for the hard, complex, and dynamic work of community engagement.  (But this also isn't a vacation slip to IPS devs though 😉).

I did experiment with a modal but it felt weird... Like, do you leave the editor with their post still open underneath? That makes it feel like the post hasn't been submitted, and that you could close the modal to cancel, but that wouldn't be the case.
Yes that checkbox is part of the normal registration form.
If they don't complete registration (i.e. they never confirm agreeing to the privacy policy) the email address is automatically deleted. The only thing it is used for before that is to send one follow up email to remind them to finish submitting the very content they submitted alongside giving their email, which is a legitimate interest.

Yes, they will see the COPPA form after submitting the post, and then on the next step it will be as shown in the blog entry.
Invision Community doesn't natively integrate with Akismet, but the registration process is unchanged so our native Spam Defence service, and any other anti=spam measures you have in place are still honoured.

I never got around to watching Fargo (the movie) until either this year or last year and I liked it a lot.
What's weird is I used to never watch movies.... I bet I went over a decade watching no movie. Yet now in the past 7 years I've watched over 1,000, I think. (I actually started keeping records of them to remind myself what I've seen, but I accidentally lost the file with a couple hundred of them in it...)

Of course, like many people, I have numerous "favorite" movies (in my top 10 or top 100!), mostly horror, thrillers, and drama, but if I had to narrow it down to one movie out of any category/genre it would be that one.

Yes, I've watched some of the series, but I'm referring to the 1994 movie:
Fargo

"Fargo" is at the top of my list. I like the setting and the desparation portrayed ...

For me, donnie darko, back to the future, and groundhog day. I hadn't even thought about it and realized my top 3 all have time travel. lol. I like many others without time travel, though. A comedy I like a lot is Office Space.

I wish someone makes SILMARILLION also as a movie

Good Question... i think a lot movies in different categories (i love Horrormoviees and ran an own Horrormovie-Site - with IPS, off course  ) I am a moviefan and have a lot of VHS/LD/DVD/BluRays, I surpass even @bfarber 😮🙄(I stopped collecting VHS and LD years ago)
Hm, i would nominate Die Hard and Alien as my favorite movies, but there are sooooooo much more 

V For Vandetta The Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit Amores Perros My Left Foot Forrest Gump Can put 100s on this list.... still not enough... 🙂

Classic favourite is Yankee Doodle Dandy featuring James Cagney - I love all Cagney movies but this one is a stand out for me.
Anything in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy vein after that as long as it is well acted and well produced; such as The Matrix series, Judge Dredd (the Karl Urban version), most of the Star Trek Movies, same with Star Wars and Stargate. 
Currently, most of the Marvel and DC iterations of the various characters - most recently I thoroughly enjoyed Wonder Woman and Avengers Infinity Wars Pt 1.
I never get to the cinema these days so everything is either streamed or on DVD that I watch.
Always a good question to ask 👍
