We cannot match up any items at present as we would need to know what they are. If you can provide the names of the applications and the marketplace links, we can do that

Is the affected application listed as 'Custom' in the application listing? If so, it needs to either:
Be updated manually using a download .tar file or Linked to a Marketplace listing instead, so that you can then do updates via the Marketplace

'Custom' = manually installed, using a downloaded file
'Marketplace' = installed using the MP functionality.
Anyway...if 'Custom' then it needs to be turned to an MP source instead. Here we go...
Ask IPS to assist with linking the installed resource to its correct MP listing OR... Find someone else who will assist you with that - I doubt it will be allowed to be posted on here. OR... Uninstall the custom app, install from the MP.

So... My one site is at a lull and I chose this period to bite the bullet, hope for the best and upgrade. I watched my app support threads and was/am confident that they were all upgraded to be compatible with 4.7.3. Thankfully the site is mostly operational. Yet the Marketplace section of the ACP will not let me update a couple installed apps. Hopefully I will get that resolved early this morning when IPS staff arrives.
Just wanted to round out my discussion and concerns within this thread with my experience.

This is a fantastic plug-in by @Adrian A. But which doesn't seem to be maintained any more. I sent a message a couple of months ago to the developer but I have had no reply. This is the second most important third-party resource on our forum and I'm very worried that with PHP 8 it won't work anymore.

It would be great if we could get a response from the developer and if he isn't interested in developing it any more, maybe somebody would like to take over.

It's incredibly useful. The title of every new thread is automatically sent out to Twitter so it is a fantastic way of letting people know what is going on and what is trending on the forum.

We are followed by many journalists and other media people who find our automatic tweet system very useful.

How to manually patch it yourself - at your own risk...
    Assumptions made:
You are self-hosted You know how to use FTP You know how to edit a PHP file The only file involved here is /applications/classifieds/sources/Advert/Advert.php  Steps:
Download that file to your PC Open it in an editor (Windows -> Notepad will do) Find the line that has public static function getItemsWithPermission( in it Add ,$location = NULL inside the closing bracket - immediately after $showMovedLinks=FALSE Save the file, upload back to server If it doesn't work, then disable the app and wait for the developer to get to it.

First come, first served. PMs only. And I will need ACP access and your ears and eyes. Maybe a bit o' brain too. The thing covers the plugins and this app but I would like a volunteer for testing before submitting. If what I just wrote is confusing, you are probably not who I am looking for...

OR..... that it was done to be compatible with another one of my custom apps, which is Sparkpost integration. 😉
I'd argue that this should be allowed, since we very often have to integrate with other 3rd party apps.

Updates to the Pages app to add a more flexible approach to layouts and not be restricted to 1,2,3 columns and to be able to mix rows with different columns - I've been asking about this for almost 2 years and nothing has been done to give Pages more vavavoom.  That would be a nice event 🙂

@Matt Thank you for the care and concern. You guys and the support from IPS is amongst the best, if not the, best. I can't tell you how much it means. Having suffered through many years with support that didn't come close. While I may not agree with all direction taken (it's not my show), the effort and energy IPS continually displays with regard to it's customer base shows.
I have asked a few, seen where others have asked for a file to be updated (hence, no need for me to add redundancy), and saw where others have said they have submitted updates that have been approved yet subsequent comments indicate that errors are still being thrown. This last was the impetus for my comment here:

Not to single anyone out here, and she does work that is amazing but I see where @HeadStand (and I do apologize here for the example, Esther) submitted an update that was apparently approved. I say apparently because if you venture to the file in question it says that it is compatible with 4.7 and a bit further down the page, under, 'What's New in Version 2.4.6', it states that it was, 'Updated for 4.7.2 compatibility.'
Now, if you read down from my linked content, 'submitted,' you will see that even though the file was approved for 4.7.2, customers are complaining that they are receiving errors and that the PHP8 Compatibility Scanner is flagging the file, even though it was approved as a compatible file.
To her credit, Esther checked the file even after it was approved by IPS, to be sure it was what it was supposed to be. After which she stated that it was correct. Subsequently, other customers indicated they too were getting flagged.
All of which reiterates my contention, how does one know if it works when there is so much confusion.

I don't want my site to break, I want to upgrade to remain current. I want to upgrade before I am forced to, but only want to do so when I am certain that the probability that things will break is next to zero. IPS could help with these concerns but I think sometimes that the minutiae some customers express gets lost in the hustle and bustle that (in this particular instance) PHP 8.x is causing. I expressed my concerns in a way I thought to be clear but, as I stated, sometimes, for whatever reason, things get lost in the shuffle.

I would definitely ask that those who feel that their modifications are now compliant, but are still getting flagged to let us know so we can further fine-tune the scanner if required. They can reach us in the marketplace devs slack channel we have, via the developer connection forum or via PM.

I'll speak to Esther this week to see what's going on.

@Matt what you're doing makes sense and I understand why.  My only concern right now is that there are people who are unable to properly use the scanner due to the number of 3rd party resources (or the size of the libraries in a resource).
This means those individuals don't REALLY know if their apps are compatible right now while we're in a state where it's just noted but not force disabled.
I'm assuming you're going to get the scanner fixed, but I need to if know we're going to have enough time between when you fix the scanner and when you start force disabling resources for those of us who are in a holding pattern right now.

Yes, as Matt mentioned, no need to worry, we will take care of PHP for you. 4.7.0 has support of PHP 8.1 so there is no immediate requirement to force to 4.7.2.1 but that, of course, could change. We, of course, highly recommend being on the latest release.
