Hi. It would be nice to add an advanced tag management system. Something like in WordPress. Mass delete and add tags.
Each tag could have a description, and the tags could be indexed on Google.

It can't be done automatically but Lindy has very kindly done exactly this for me once as a courtesy. You're a polite, helpful man and a regular contributor here, so I imagine he'd extend the same grace to you too if you submitted a ticket with the request for his attention.

    Not a bad idea.
Tags already have landing pages, but we can't change slug or set a description. This would allow for plugin creation also to extend with more things on these pages.
    You have my vote 🙂

Happy Hump Day, fam! Before we dive into the goodness, I just want to say thank you for being a part of Invision Community. It's been really fun to see community members and the IC team become even more unified as we've rolled out 4.6. 🥲
Speaking of...(!!!) 4.6 Beta 2 is now live! 🎉
It's worth reminding you this is the third Beta version (it follows Beta 1 and Beta 1.1).
We collected a roundup of changes needed and spent the last week implementing updates.
Not only did @Matt write an epic blog post about what you can expect to see in 4.6, he also relayed this list of fixes 🤯
Added a no search results message when searching Pixabay and Giphy. Added truncated views for status updates. Added a new check to make sure a datastore method is working before using it. Clarified that a template must be saved when editing template variables/attributes. Fixed an issue with an alert message not showing when selecting ‘Administrators’ as Secondary Group for Members. Fixed an issue when an anonymous online status doesn’t persist across logins when using button log in methods. Fixed an issue where it wasn’t possible to grant access to the email stats page to a limited Administrator. Fixed an issue where the Standard login handler title isn’t saved on edit. Fixed some admin control panel live search results linking to the wrong page. Fixed an issue where text when using the visual language editor could be white on a white background. The last post date in fluid view will no longer extend beyond the browser width on mobiles. Fixed an issue where JSON-LD data was badly formatted for Question/Answer forums or when “Enable Solved” was enabled. Fixed an issue where phrase searches containing stop words could return no results. Added an option for members to cancel expired subscriptions to be able to purchase another subscription. Fixed an issue where PayPal Billing Agreements / Subscriptions may not include sales tax. Fixed an issue when approving a held Stripe transaction if the payment has already been captured. Fixed an issue where an empty donations page was visible creating a soft 404.

4.6's official release date for all is set for the first half of June.
Beta versions are available for Cloud clients (by request), or can be downloaded if you are self-hosted (proceed with caution and please make a backup!).
Have YOU been testing out 4.6? What are your overall thoughts now that you've had a minute to soak it all in? Sound off in the replies!

It's respectful to use the appropriate pronoun when it's use is called for.  This was difficult enough when it was a choice between using a masculine or feminine pronoun as it is difficult to determine which an individual might be based on their choice of username.  Pronoun choice becomes even more difficult when someone like "Morrigan" identifies as being a "Rainbow Princess Unicorn of the Fourth Order".  If that makes Morrigan happy, who am I to judge <insert unknown pronoun>.  It's a tough social issue to address as people are resistant to change, there are a boatload of value judgements that are likely to come into play and way too many exceptions being offered up to know how to deal with them all.
Unfortunately some individuals are skipping the advocacy phase and went straight into the implementation phase.  This will likely engender even more resistance to change ensuring the effort has no chance of being universally accepted.  It will likely take many years before conditions are right to try a more disciplined advocacy approach.  It will require an extremely gifted team of advocates and access to lots of money to have even the remotest chance of encouraging even the slightest of changes.

I feel like just having a field makes it seem compulsory. Even if its not. Even if you can leave it blank. I'm a completionist. Seeing a blank field that I CAN fill out makes me feel icky (blame games) but then what if you make it a part of profile completion? Even if its not required if its not filled in then it is forever at 99% complete.
I also tend to X out of sites that have this sort of thing because it means that my gender or my gender identity is more important than my contributions to the community when it means very little to me what you identify as.
For me this sort of thing reminds me of the call centers that are in the Philippines or India where they are all named Steve or Julia. You know that's likely not their real name but at the end of the day does it matter?

I vote no. Leave it to a plugin.
If there were one I'd like to put my true identification which is none of the above listed. I identify as a "Rainbow Princess Unicorn of the Fourth Order" in which I would feel both left out and angry because my identification isn't listed there.
I feel that this is a niche need and therefore needs a niche solution. Plugin. Plugin. Plugin.

Edit: To be clear I joke because I believe that this opens up a pathway for people to attack others because of their gender preference. I have removed gender options completely from my community and people can choose to identify in their introduction, in their about me or not at all. It is up to them to make that choice, not me.

SeNioR- reacted to Colonel_mortis in My initial impressions of achievements
I've not really played around with achievements yet, but I think that's all the more reason to give this feedback now.
My initial impression as a user on this site is that it's not obvious:
What points are How I get points, and how many points things are worth How many points I have How the ranks compare (beyond just that each one is higher than the previous) (ie how many points each rank is worth) What I can do to unlock new badges (there's an argument that some badges should be secret, but certainly most should not) These are the sorts of things that experienced members will figure out within a couple of weeks, and maybe all that information is available for users somewhere that I'm not immediately seeing. However, the fact that I'm not immediately seeing it is the problem. For achievements to really work they need to be walk-up usable - a new member needs to be incentivized to ask questions, to post good answers, and to come back to the site next week, and right now, it doesn't do that.
On the user menu, it highlights my rank and progress, which is great, but I want to click it and see more details. It feels weirdly non-interactive, and leaves me wanting more info.
For a good case study, take a look at Stack Overflow. I can look at all the badges, and see my progress towards them. I also see a graph of my rep (which on SO is less valuable because rep is compounding as people find your old questions, but on forums would be a more active incentive to keep increasing it).
Building on the SO example, wouldn't it be neat if achievement ranks could be configured to actually benefit you? Even the group promotion rules are conspicuously missing the ability to promote by rank. I want to set some rules like "level 1 can only use forums, level 2 can use blogs and status updates, level 3 can post news, level 4 can use classifieds, level 5 gets more messenger storage, etc", which I think would be a great way to incentivise engagement and give users a goal to work towards that is more than just a slightly different coloured icon on their profile picture.
Also, and this is borderline a bug, the default badge descriptions are inconsistent - some don't have descriptions, some have passive descriptions ("a week since joining"), some have present tense descriptions ("making your first post"), and some have past tense descriptions ("visited daily for a week"). There's also no way to edit them (which I will report as a bug).
Another thing - wouldn't it be nice if getting a badge could give you points? As far as I can see, that's not a thing at the moment.

SeNioR- reacted to KT Walrus in Cloudflare Stream support in 4.6?
I'm hoping IPS adds support for Cloudflare Stream video hosting in 4.6. I really want to encourage my users to post personal videos and Cloudflare Stream is a very economical and easy option for hosting and streaming video for smaller websites like mine. It should be easy to support since the Cloudflare Stream API is very simple to use. You do have to upload the video to Cloudflare, but Cloudflare takes care of transcoding, hosting, and embedding the video for streaming to any kind of user device.

Recently, Instagram has implemented a new self-expression feature. They added a "Pronouns". LinkedIn added the same field a little earlier.
More and more users feel the need to inform which gender they identify with. Transgender people in particular do this for understandable reasons. Pronouns are not obligatory and Instagram users can decide whether the pronoun will be visible to all visitors to its profile or to those who follow it.
In the UK, for example, Instagrammers can choose between his, he, him, she, her, hers, hir, e, ey, em, eir, they, them, theirs, thon, thons, per, pers, fae, faer , ze, zir, zie, xe, xem, xyr, co, cos, ve, ver, vis, vi, vir, ne, nir, nirs, nee, ner, ners, mer and mers.

Of course, we can use our own built-in profile fields, but they are not translatable and will not be displayed at the top.

It's not a bad idea, but I think it's better to let users choose pronouns from a list, instead of typing them by hand.
Unfortunately, IC does not have a drop-down list in the profile fields. We can only use a checkbox or a select box fields, which are not 100% adapted to this.

So I decided to have a go at upgrading the main site on my MAMP install and I thought I would choose to NOT run the new achievements. Upgrade literally took 2 minutes and was very smooth (as it should be on a local install).
Now in ACP I can see that the rank system is still the same as if the achievements was enabled. The only difference being that the points and badges are not shown on the front end. But, I can still customise all the points and badges and the rules? If I'm using the old ranking system, why is it still displayed as points in ACP?
I cannot see a way to enable the full experience so I guess you must be sure on what you choose before upgrading?

And where have the pips gone if I'm using ranks? 🙄
I'm a little confused, and I'm finding it that I am getting confused a lot this week. 🙁

    Very, very impressed with achievements.
    Two things I love.
1/ The ability to reward activity by location. This will allow me to award, for example, VFX Expert status to members who post best answer n times in a VFX Q/A forum.
2/ And the following I can see being incredibly popular. My wife was thrilled with it.

One small request for future updates:
Please would you consider grouping achievements by named group (same way as you do with custom block authoring) and rendering them to the front end in separate containers identifiable by user nominated class or group name. This will allow us to, optionally, visually separate loyalty type rewards (for example logs in 10 times) from proficiency awards such as receiving an expert award in a video editing Q/A forum.
Either way, very happy with what I have seen so far. Installed on a test server without a hitch and so far I have only seen one small issue with VideoBox custom fields which has been reported to the author.
