Daniel F reacted to David N. in Article database: can I change a record's category and published date?
Thanks! Super easy. I was looking for a "category" field when editing the article - but this makes sense, much like moving a forum topic to a new forum.
Thanks again. Publishing date was enabled however even I, the admin, didn't have permissions to edit it. Giving it the proper permissions fixed it.

It sounds like it’s disabled by your webhost.

Daniel F reacted to David N. in How to redirect a URL when hosted in the Cloud?
This was handled (very quickly) by the Invision Team. Again, thanks a lot! 🙂

How’s the music on this one @Dll?

Daniel F reacted to Elon Report in Can I pass a variable in the menu?
Exactly. Zapier does not know the member_id.
I suppose I can make a page with a php block and redirect that way. I knew about the security issue; I'm just trying to get things working to attract more qualified help.
Thanks for the assistance!

Daniel F reacted to teraßyte in Where is Profile Field data stored?
The data is saved in the table core_pfields_content in the column field_X, where X is the ID of the field you added in ACP.

Daniel F reacted to Marc Stridgen in Please reconsider killing off Support in Commerce
You never know, one of these providers may decide to do a support system themselves
Any news regarding this would be posted in our blogs at the appropriate time 🙂

This is the advantage of implementing something like this with pages and not with an application.

Have you read the article you linked? It explains in details why should NOT do it.

3rd party devs are still able to provide such update checks and notifications.
TBH, they are now even able to implement much better approaches which would have probably been forbidden in our marketplace because of our guidelines.
License checks, direct download from github for people with a license, etc..

Daniel F got a reaction from The Old Man in Apps/plugins and Invision Community 5
There's no real difference. In fact, it's faster because the system doesn't need to iterate over plugin + application data.
It's also much easier for us to maintain it because the old architecture introduced a lot of ugly c&p code.

Daniel F got a reaction from Maxxius in IP.Board BULK MAIL suggestion. Send to members based on their interests.
You can literally use profile fields for this!
Create a new Profile Field with the type "Select" called "Interests". Keep in mind that profile fields don't have to be shown anywhere. So if you want to use them only for the bulk mail or group promotion, you can:) Members can set their interests by setting the field. Create your group promotion or bulk mail and use the Interests profile field filter to sent / promotion only the users which are relevant.

No. Just because a feature request is popular, it doesn't mean that it's right for the product, will enhance the community experience for community members and move the product forward.
It is also unfair to have the product guided by a small number of customers that visit the forums and take time to comment on feature requests. The forum does not record the hundreds of conversations we have with other clients over email, regular meetings and so on.
We try and account for most things but more often than not what is suggested in feedback is generally minor tinkering around the edges when more bold action is often needed. That is not to say that we do not read every topic and discuss most of them. Quite often a popular request that we hear over and over makes its way into the software but perhaps not in the way that the topic author described.
I completely understand this feeling. The last six months or so have been a pretty dark timeline of mostly negative news, especially for self-hosted customers. The introduction of cloud exclusive features, talks of falling profitability for self hosted license sales, a long list of deprecated features people use, v5 dev tools overhaul, the marketplace closing - it's been a lot and we recognise that.
Now that the bad stuff is out of the way, we can start talking about v5 and there is a lot of fun stuff to get into. Invision Community 5 is a new chapter for the product and us as a company. A more streamlined and focused operation fit for the next decade of community building.

No, your ACP is going to show the same notification and badge as you see now if they implement their own version check.
