I have now done the back up and got an e-mail that it has finished. Is there any more I need to do? Should I download it to somewhere or is it okay, that it's just on another place on the server.

It should be listed on the same page as the backups were done. Download them and keep a local copy. Good idea to do this every now and again.

Login to cpanel for your site/account and see:

Go to the backup wizard and click backup:

Optionally go to just backup and do the same and then maybe back up your databases as well separately. Its pretty straight forward.

There should be instructions for cpanel that you can find on how to save a backup.
If you need managed assistance, there are several competent third party providers in the community like @Makoto @ASTRAPI @DawPi and @Spanner who can help not just make a backup, but also run test conversions to prep your board for upgrade.

Currently it just logs the member in your AdminCP and allows you to take action if you wish, but adding a feature that can either prompt or force the user to update their e-mail on login (similar to the e-mail validation screen, they won't be able to navigate passed it until they complete the required steps) is something that will be released with the next version!
I just wanted to go ahead and get the basic release which includes logging and blocking registrations out first so I can make sure everything's working smoothly, then add other features such as that. So, I can promise that is a feature that will be added!
Yep, that's it! I contacted them about it and made sure it was okay to use and that there aren't any API usage limits to worry about (there aren't). It is indeed an awesome and nice service that they offer.
Indisposable also caches e-mail domains that kickbox returns as disposable addresses, so you only actually need to query them once for the domain, then everything can be checked locally on your server; so it keeps performance in-mind especially for high-traffic websites.

Thanks for that - missed the notification on the question.
All - I'm going to be releasing a new version of this plugin 'soon'. Been working on it for a long time, and just recently got back to it after having to take a break from development (the joys of glasses!!)....but the wait will be worth it.

has there been any updates by invision about implementing our communities to become pwa? Is it possible to do this ourselves to our communities?
(I am aware of the manifest capability in ipb but can we manually add service workers ourselves? & how?)

Manifests were introduced in our last major release. There haven't been any feature change announcements for our next release yet.

The application doesn't ban the member from Discord server when banned on the website.
The other Discord extension did that automatically.

Discord ban system is completely different from the one in Invision Community. We decided to only kick members that are banned on your website.
You may keep your server free of banned members (and these that haven't registered on your site) by deleting basic Discord invites and using only Magic Invites (which is recommended). They won't allow guests and banned members to join your Discord server.
In future there may be more options in such case.

Use cleantalk anti-spam it protects the contact form.  It's super cheap and easy to setup.
Of course, if you're specifically targeted by a person who is spamming manually, nothing is going to stop them.  You can only report their email to cleantalk to help for the next person.

If you don't get much that's really rather fortunate, but some of it is really nasty and illegal, not just your friendly Nigerian prince who needs your $10 to reclaim his millionaire inheritance or another advert for magic, blue M and Ms. Secondly, if you run a community for a client like a local charity or organisation,  they don't expect to receive stuff about indecent images of children etc, and neither do you of course, as an admin.
If IPS can help block even some small amount of this stuff received through its software, whether it's integrating a new version of ReCaptcha or integrating or improving their anti-spam spam facilities, or other blacklists or honeypots, why not simply help? As an admin of your server you can do a lot to help reduce spam, but you also leave yourself at the mercy of others to do their bit too.

Unfortunately it seems that there is no "Remember me" feature for external login handlers in Invision Community.
He will still need to link his Discord account in such case.
Partial clubs support may be added in future updates. However, multiple server support would require complete code rewrite of the app. This generation of Brilliant Discord Integration is just not prepared for such feature.

supernal reacted to Jim M in Move my forum folder to root site. How to do it?
Assuming you're on version 4 and self-hosted, the summary of the process is:
Move the contents of your installation directory to the root of your domain on your server. (Any questions on this I would suggest reaching out to your hosting provider) Edit the URL in your conf_global.php file to reflect the file move in step 1. (depending on how old your community is this may be board_url or base_url) Go to ACP -> System -> Support -> Something isn't working correctly to clear your cache. Go to your Client Area ->Manage Purchases -> select your license -> scroll down to "Licensed URLs" -> click "Change URL." (this bit is the final piece to the puzzle to update your license URL on file)

This is not something that comes part of the software and would need to be done outside by yourself, hosting provider or a knowledgeable party that you work with.
A warning I can provide is that your current URL includes "/forum" and this is also a reserved FURL in our software so need to be mindful of that as you're writing these redirects.

+1000.  I have a community for enthusiasts of a specific sport.  My community competes for participation and attention against a Facebook group for the same sport.  The Facebook group is crushing my community for daily interactions and up-to-the-minute breaking news type posts.  I think this is due to 2 big things, among others: 1, people are on FB all the time anyway, 2, PUSH NOTIFICATIONS.  Just to level-set, a push notification is one that shows up on your phone or desktop if you allow it, regardless of whether you're currently using that app.  Existing IPS notifications are great, but the user only sees them once they browse to the site.  Email notifications are not a solution and should be minimized for obvious reasons.
Tapatalk is one solution, but IMO it is a non-starter because the look and feel is nowhere as good as the mobile version of IPS, and to get your own branding and ads on Tapatalk you have to pay.  I already pay $70/mo for IPS, that's enough.  Tapatalk is its own ecosystem and they are very much in control of the user experience.
The only things saving my community from being obsoleted by the Facebook group is the sheer fact that a forum is a much better archive of information, and is a more dedicated environment.  The searching and organization cannot be matched by Facebook.  A FB group flows by like a river, and topics are gone and forgotten within a day or so.  There is also no way to monetize a FB group.  My community sells subscriptions which pays for the hosting and the rest we donate to charitable organizations in our sport.  A huge reason FB wins is that dopamine rush from receiving push notifications.
If IPS would provide a push notifications solution, there would be no need for a half-baked 3rd party solution, and it would dramatically improve our forums' ability to compete with Facebook.

For push notifications on iPhone, you need an app downloadable from the App Store. There's no way to push notifications to iPhones in any other way.
