This has already been done in Xenforo by a contributor called Dadparva for 1.x ans 2.x versions and it is incredibly flexible and works in any theme or customisation; you basically decide what to highlight and add your own descriptions; I'm pretty sure that something can be done in a similar way for IPS, it just needs the right developer with some forethought and imagination.

This could be a deal breaker in encouraging signups for those who are entrenched in social media and are not confident enough to use forums.  I did a survey on Twitter and added this to another post, I can't remember which one and the result was this.

Those percentages of confusing and don't like are quite revealing - so a tour guide that holds their hands first time around would be very useful.

It's not that new members aren't savvy, it's just not "comfortable" to have to figure things out. If there was something that easily and efficiently guided them through a few "need to knows" - visually - this would be a tremendous step forward. It also shows that as community leaders, we care about giving them the best experience possible, and that starts from the first moment they login.

If they want to skip it the can just click "dismiss" or something and no harm no foul.

I agree, for those who have been nurtured on forums most things come easily, but if you are attempting to open a new forum and are looking to get the Social Media savvy bunch on board then there is a real need for some kind of tour of the main functions they need to be aware of.

I released it to the members last night, even with the few bits remaining and they all loved it.
Not being funny but if I can bodge something together in a day and half, the developers shouldn't have too many problems.

I can empathise, but like everyone else waiting for 4.5 it would do more damage to release it now if it's not ready to go.  So, whilst it's unfortunate you can't make good of the bad situation we're in now, it would be worse still if a release now would introduce unknowns that could ruin your site altogether.  
Just make the most of what you have and do the best you can with the current resources available - patience is a virtue that brings its own rewards.  I was very impatient at one time and things could never happen fast enough, now I just wait patiently and as they say, all good things come to those that wait.

Can you provide a link to your site so the theme can be visualised - I may be able to help you out but it's not so easy to design to match your theme if we can't see it lol. 

Have tested this on Edge Version 80.0.361.111 (Official build) (64-bit) and Chrome Version 81.0.4044.92 (Official Build) (64-bit) and can confirm that the carousel is not working for me either; again this just for info, not a complaint.

The concept of having a dashboard like overview is not a bad idea, but it would require a custom plugin I think as you probably want the users to define what is important to them...

yes that's right, a personalized page for each member.
The more personalized it is, the lighter the content will be, especially if it contains only interesting information, and without archives.
it's going to your home page, I find it not too heavy despite a lot of information, it is surely the images that lighten the visual quite well.
When I did tests with my home page, I was told each time, that it is heavy, too much information ... and they get lost quickly.
There should be a home page with a minimum of content, and a maximum of personalized information.

I created a home page for my site using the Pages app - it fulfils a lot of what you're asking for and there is probably more you can add depending on exactly what it is you want, but I'm guessing you want it more personalised for a single member when they log in - is that correct?  You can see my home page @ https://startrekgate.co.uk and I imagine a lot of people using IPS have similar homepages bringing in different content.
 

A small feature suggestion. When you are done answering all the questions you can point out how many percent of people were right of wrong when answering this question. For example:
If user answered it correctly then it would show Who is Harry Mason? ( 89% got it correct )
If wrong - Who is Harry Mason? ( 11% got it wrong too )
Or something like that 🙂

The current version runs on 4.4.10. What I said is that I won’t release new features before 4.5. Those are different things. 
By the way, there’s another course management app on marketplace. Take a look if it fits your needs. 

Getting people to join is a struggle - even if you have created something that you believe should interest specific groups of people.  User interaction is important to any Admin especially if they want to know that they are moving in the right direction.  Post before register is a good start, but how about letting guests vote in polls and allow them to rate articles and topics using the star system.  This can go a long way to helping admins understand what is and what is not appealing.  Getting someone to register just to say that they like or dislike something is never going to happen, but give guests a little more leeway and it might just tempt them to register and take advantage of everything else on offer.
I have no idea how this could be implemented, but I'm sure there must be a way.

The problem is identified, but it’s more a problem on IPS’ side. I’ll have to see if they are willing to change something or if I need to create a work-around. 
For now: If you prepare the images to be in alphabetical order and upload them in that order, it should work.

@Maxxius Add this to your custom CSS file:
ul ul, ol ul { list-style-type: disc; } You may need to add !important after disc to ensure it's overridden correctly, but try it without first.  This will affect all lists that you have throughout the site.

The next version can also attach seasons:

 
It will work like with ThreadStarter music - if there is only one search result and it is a series the season list for that series will be shown.
You can also trigger the season list with typing ' - ' after the title, e.g. 'Blacklist - ' will pull all seasons for the blacklist series, this is helpful if there are a series and a movie with the same name.
I plan to release it sometime this week

There will be an update with some bugfixes for all threadstarter plugins within the next days
I didn't have time to see how much effort it would be to add specific seasons or episodes to the movies plugin yet
