Reported it as well, they're asking for examples instead of actualy taking a look at it first.
    What a bummer...

    Update:
They've created an internal bug report. It's in boys. 🤖

I reported this bug about 2 weeks ago through the Client Area.

    And the answer was this:
    No comment....

Well, I can tell you guys that I had no good encounter with the support as well in the context of a similar problem: uploading a SVG favicon from ACP created no *.svg extension and on a strict server environment like mine (not allowing files with no extension) that was a deal breaker. I was persistent enough that they finally fixed that in 4.4.10. Now the same story with *.webp...

We have not added such a feature because it does not really come up as a common problem. I would say this is a moderation task more than a software issue to solve.

    Edit the following template:
    core -> global -> editor -> code
At the very start of the template, place one of the following depending on your desired default entry:
    {{$language = 'null';}} {{$language = 'html';}} {{$language = 'css';}} {{$language = 'javascript';}} {{$language = 'php';}} {{$language = 'sql';}} {{$language = 'xml';}} null = 'No Syntax Highlighting'
Want to use one of the other entries as the default? I reckon you're going to have to get busy with some Javascript, and I'm not going there.
Note: this might result in existing codeboxes defaulting back to your chosen language instead of the actual language that is in the existing code...not tested that.
EDIT: or you could use the attached plugin 😉 plugin has one caveat to be aware of and that is noted in the settings.

    (NE) Change 'Code' default language.xml

It seems to me that it is not so easy to add this option to ACP because it is a CKEditor plugin.
If you want to change the default code syntax highlighting, try going to applications\core\interface\ckeditor\ckeditor\plugins\ipscode\plugin.js
    Open plugin.js
    find
\x26lang\x3dhtml and change the \x26lang\x3dhtml suffix to css or lua or something else.
    e.g.
\x26lang\x3dcss \x26lang\x3dpython I have not tested this method, so I do not guarantee that it will work.

    Hi,
Please consider adding a simple admin option to choose the default Code syntax highlighting. HTML being preselected just doesn't fit to many communities and it is so unhandy to select manually something different each time the Code is inserted. Also, users are submitting content fast without even bothering to change the syntax from the menu and I have a lot of work to edit their posts.

Yeah I’m not a fan of these icons over the profile pictures, I get I’m not the most handsome man out there, but I work with what I have, covering me up with an icon gives me insecurities about that side of my face.
The above might not be totally serious, but I can confirm I’m not a fan. If we are going down that route of covering our pretty faces, an online indicator would be more useful than displaying whatever achievement I’m up to.

I think this is better as a plugin.
It's a seriously infected issue that will cause division in the user base. Personally I would never add it, unless my community is based around a community that think this is important. The reason for that is that it is pretty much a safe bet that people will behave just as bad as on Twitter and I think we have enough trolls to worry about to not add strife amongst our members if we can prevent it.
I am all for expressing yourself and adding whatever labels you feel is appropriate to your community, but this is what custom fields are for and this is what plugins should be used for in my opinion.

Luuuk reacted to Joey_M in CKEditor 4 end of life - alternative editor consideration
I can't pretend to know much about the different types of editors, but I actually like CKEditor. There's been no issues, that I've personally experienced with it.
IPS should base their decision on a mix of things, not what's now trendy or fashionable.
I'm not suggesting anyone feels this way, but I do know CKEditor isn't something that will disappear over night. It's also well supported, has useful add-ons. If, other editors are stable, user friendly, responsive and isn't going to fall off the face of the earth then fair enough.
But I don't feel a change is needed for the sake of it, it's got to be balanced and we'll thought out.
Requiring to change again in the near future can put people off, I don't think members care about this function - provided it's simply, easy to use and does its job.

CKEditor 5 was made from scratch, and from what i've seen, it works really well. I don't see the point in moving to a different editor.
What we need is Invision to finally decide to migrate to the new version, but because it was made from scratch, t's not a simple upgrade, but rather its a migration and it will give them a lot of work.

Yes, can we please get an option to configure the default selection?

The current behaviour is so annoying. Every single time I have to change "Everywhere" to a specific forum or other section I'm currently in. I do that in every IPS based forum including here and I get just exhausted.

It absolutely should not do this, as it should not do what it does now. It should be configurable at the application level by the administrator.
For some communities, how it works now is perfect. For certain communities depending on how they use applications (as is the case with Downloads on this community, but not all), the administrator here should set the default for the Downloads app to be app first, unless end user picks "everywhere" from the scope selector.
Adding granularity at the application level to set a default search context increases flexibility and user understanding.
I say all this knowing that for our community, I'd keep it on a global search. But I possess the critical thinking skills necessary to know that one shoe does not fit all.

Keyword being almost. 10% of unsupported users of those being tracked is quite a lot of users. I would still argue that unless the format is officially supported as an industry standard and fully supported in commercial platforms, both for producing graphics and for displaying graphics, it is a risk to add it to your commercial software.
Besides, it even says so on the page that webp is already being challenged by an even better standard in AVIF that is developed by AOM. Do you really think that Google will come out on top with a BSD licensed image format against an open format backed by the giants in the AOM?
At the end of the day it is IPS decision, but I would rather see support for vector graphic than webp in the near future. A plugin for those that need webp should suffice over it being a native feature as it would mitigate official support taking time from other, more important issues.
    That's just me though 🙂

I've not seen a pattern here where someone's ideas were cast aside because of what organization or community a person was from. I am not discounting your ideas simply because your community is in its infancy.
It may serve you well to find value in the input of others even when that input is contrary to what you might like to hear. Maybe you're appealing to probability, or using kettle logic, or falling prey to a false dilemmas or dichotomies. I don't think things are quite as black and white as you perceive them to be, and I think your abrasive approach is creating unnecessary friction. That's the nerve you've hit.
I've taken a look at your community. You have published over 50 individually numbered rules/edicts for your membership. That's more ten more rules than the number of posts your community members posted yesterday. Who knows how many of those rules I've broken in this reply. You're applying these rules which we'll all assume serve your community well to the replies we offer here, where you find yourself in the presence of peers who are all responsible for managing communities large and small, and who all have their own philosophies and thoughts on community management.
This is not about others having not thought of the idea, and therefore finding value in yours. You've failed to read the room. Rule number 4 on your community is "do not assert a position of authority." I really want to help you craft your idea into something that works for you and might work for others, and will regularly and ferociously champion the good ideas of others. There are nuggets of value in your proposition, yet you'll need to do some work to denigrate less, listen more, and be a bit more respectful in your approach if you want to be heard.
