Ocean West reacted to SeNioR- in constants.php
This was added in IPS 4.4 or 4.5.
Adding backslash means "load from the root namespace for performance reasons".
Using the root namespace allows PHP to use Opcode to run the function which can be much quicker.
    More: Strange Whoops! on 4.4.1

why didn't the upgrade drop the deprecated member_title column after the data was moved to a new custom field?

Ocean West got a reaction from xtech in How can advertisers trust IPS Advertisement system?
The ad system could use some work.
I wish I could allow users to pay first and then go setup the artwork and then publish it on their own time and that's when the meter starts.
Also wish advertisers could change their artwork (with approval) at will - I have to be involved in the process.
    Plus see better stats.

Ocean West reacted to Jordan Miller in Please restore the choice of reactions here at IPS!
Appreciate you taking the time to write this @The Old Man!
My logic for removing the "sad" and "confused" reactions was two-fold. For one, they were extremely underutilized according to the reports. More importantly (imo), if someone feels confused or sad, we want to encourage you guys to write out a response. Those are more fragile emotions, so I felt, and still feel, that if someone is sad or confused about something, that it's important they take the time to respond why they feel that way. If they're confused, it gives them an opportunity to seek clarification from someone in a reply. And if they are sad, it allows them the freedom to explain why.
Most platforms stopped offering a "dislike" option because it causes unnecessary conflict. I can attest to this personally on my own community. A few members were using it non-stop to essentially start fights - especially if their posting was restricted (they can still use reactions as a form of communication). We removed the option to "dislike" replies and it created a friendlier environment.
YouTube is one of the only places left where you can dislike, and this past week they've started quietly testing out what their platform would be like if they removed it.

Ultimately, I am aiming for our community to feel more high vibe. 😅
Would love to hear what the rest of the community has to say about this! If the majority want the ability to express negative emotion with reactions, if that will really elevate this community and your day, I'm open to hearing that and making a change. It just has to be for the overall betterment of our community 🙂 🙏

Everything should expire as it was set up, but once that happens, the product should become available again as a new purchase to previous subscribers just as it is available to everyone else. That’s what kmk and everyone would expect.
It’s kind of obvious. If I subscribe and later cancel a newspaper or app store subscription, I will always be able to start the subscription again after a pause. The worst that should happen would be that the new purchase might be more expensive now than an old renewal price I could keep while being subscribed, but I should not be blocked from subscribing again for the majority of subscription products.

Ocean West reacted to CoffeeCake in Show all accounts with log in attempts fail?
I can see a use case for some organizations where this exchange may happen over the phone and that the answers (depending on the questions) may be such where visual inspection of the provided answers could be a part of what happens for identity validation.
That said though, I think it's important that accessing those answers be considered a heightened privilege event. The option should exist to require the administrator to reauthenticate along with their own 2FA if configured as such, and should record an audit trail that the information was accessed by the administrator at said date and time.
We place trust in those we give privileged access to, however we should be able to verify that those responsibilities are not being abused by the individuals themselves or by a compromise affecting that individual's accounts.

This sounds like a good idea, and is likely the same challenge of insufficient metadata in the search engine as the request for # of replies + reply-ible.

I have been asking for many many years... i want a way to get a list/stream of of topics with NO replies, or list of topics with NO replies from a certain group - as a tool for moderators to help newbies and or make sure posts get attention.

Correct and this has been a long time suggestion and find it sad that its still not native since this functionality already exists in the blogs and in the pages CMS. - I have never wanted to create a post and have it "locked" and then "unlock" at a given time - however I have always wanted a way for people to post things that perhaps embargoed for a certain go live date. I hate having to get up at 6am because something has to publish at 9AM Eastern time.

Ocean West got a reaction from CoffeeCake in Gift Cards and Donations Should require gateway options.
seems all products and subscriptions can select which payment gateways are accepted for purchase. However Gift Cards and Donations do not have this restriction; and all payment methods are presented as a payment option. I think this should be corrected and consistent with products and subscriptions

Ocean West got a reaction from CoffeeCake in Flag as Spammer [Bug/Issue]?
This feature really needs a limit as to what groups can and cannot be flagged as spammer.
Usually anyone with more the 10 posts are not spammers.
    I use promotion feature.
Curious - 0 posts Newbie - 1 - 5 Posts ( first one must be approved ) can only make so many posts in a day (flood control) Member - 6+ posts There is no way that any one who is a member with thousands of posts is a spammer, therefore this feature should have an exclusion list of groups.
Also flag as spammer while using the HIDE option does not remove the naked pictures they may post in their profile.
If a person is BANNED as legitimate spammer then this:

When you get a notification it may be by Email and Notification center however if you navigate thru email and read it or just go to the content directly and read it the notification still remains un-read. When you read content something should update notification as read.
Also if you get notifications for pending approval of content if another mod/admin has already address the action then it should update that original notification as READ and append  "Matt Approved Post"

It would be nice if when looking at online users IPS had a library of known IP address ranges that belong to likes of Google / AWS or any such bots and include that other then 'Guest'
or at the very least include the country flag and prephas the country where the "guests" are from.

I do not believe this is a typical white label app which can be branded. In as much you won't find your app and logo in the app store.
Instead you will find a generic IPS App that has a directory of all IPS sites where users would still have to search to find and add your site.

Actually it was a different product; but yes i do see that now thank you.
However nobody reads instructions LOL (self included)
I'd love to see a tiny flag 🆕 or some label in the ACP that indicates new settings, and something hasn't been configured yet.
Or even clickable links that resolve to that direct page in my ACP
Perhaps as part of IPS developer program download package it should include ACP payload of keywords so that users can search the ACP for specific app settings.
As this area of IPS is very new of great interest everyone I am hoping while code is still fresh and and malleable we can see some great innovations 😄
