We may bring Courses to Classic in the future. For the moment, Courses is a value addition to those on our cloud platform.

Anyone at invision explain the thinking behind these two sets of statements...

    Commerce Deprecation
Commerce Help Feature - Now, there are many email support desk solutions that are a significant improvement on what Commerce offers...
...we made the decision to deprecate the support desk feature
Commerce Sales Feature -  ...physical product sales have now been deprecated and are much better handled by specialist services such as Shopify.
    versus
    New Courses and Lessons Feature
The Courses app is not going to try to be a full LMS. Not trying to run a university here 🙂

As I see it invision are...
Getting rid of 2 features (that I use heavily) with the reason being you can get better commercial versions elsewhere
Whilst adding one new feature (that I have no use for) even though you can get better commercial versions elsewhere
All a bit conflicting to me
Plus while here, may as well ask, will the cost of commerce go down now as it will be a lesser product for self hosted packages?

Expect significant breaking changes to CSS, HTML and JS. PHP less so.

🍀 Welcome to this week's Invision Insight! 🍀
Thank you for checking out this weekly round up post. We would love to hear if you enjoy catching up here and how we can make these more useful for you. Feel free to say hello and let us know what are you working on this week.
As for us, let’s get into what the Invision Team is up to.

    Current Happenings
Our Live Topics feature is progressing nicely and nearing its debut in beta soon! Did you catch the live March Release Chat on Wednesday or notice the converted topic that now lives in this forum? That is the live topics feature in all its [version one] glory. 🙂 I’ll share that topic here and if you missed the live topic in action and want to join, follow and add the April Release Chat to your calendar.

    On Deck
Our March release is set for next week so stay tuned for that. As you know, we recommend that you keep your community up to date each month to keep it running smoothly and so you can enjoy the latest updates. Let us know what you are looking forward to most this time. Are you a Downloads application user or are you getting into GraphQL?
As a reminder, here is what is slated for the March release, version 4.7.8.

    Peeking Ahead
Commerce is getting its round of improvements along with some additions to Clubs and more for Gallery based on feedback we have received. These are coming your way in the next month...or two. They are currently undergoing intense review and testing ... or something similar 😉 Happy to fill you in with more details once those are made available.

Lastly, for those that like to see what we are up to line by line, here is the changelog for week.

Seem so, I am already testing another platform, if I switch it will be indeed a long run with IPS since before 2002 even
    Sadly tho.

You are getting exactly what we promised when you paid for your license. We continue to make monthly releases with a mix of bug fixes, minor and major feature updates. We have a lot in the pipeline that is coming to all platforms.
We have recently released news of our Events update, Gallery refresh and GraphQL API which came to all platforms.
This was covered in great detail here:

Are you planning something extra for self hosted license payers too or are we just paying for a very modest version of the script?

I will happily discuss concerns and explain the “why” but the continual allegations of being greedy or dishonest are disappointing.

You need more than PHP and MySQL to deliver modern features. It’s the way it is. We continue to move with the times.

Some observations for Gallery with lots of images/albums:
I tried to upload an album with 1200 small images here on the site. Issues:
    1. After the collection process, it wouldn’t move on to the upload process.

    2. I then uploaded in smaller batches (e.g. 600 pictures), but after the upload process, only 391 images were actually in the album. I already learned that this is likely related to php.ini settings in regards to how many variables can be processed/submitted, but I think that the Gallery app should be proactive about it. It shouldn’t fail silently. If necessary, it should read those values and warn or reject images that couldn’t be handled.
    3. As reported in other topics and just for the sake of completeness, thumbnail listing is broken with certain album ordering settings like “caption”.
No other issues here on the site. But on my self-hosted installations (dedicated server) I experience issues with large albums or categories. For example:
Album with 650+ images can take 16 seconds to load or fails entirely when memory_limit settings aren’t really high.  (tested on latest beta)
Category with 100+ albums can be extremely slow to load or fails entirely when memory_limit settings aren’t really high. (can’t currently reproduce on the latest beta)
I hope those queries with lots of albums and images can be tested thoroughly and be optimized. Otherwise I feel I can’t really rely on the Gallery app, if with more and more and more images, things will get slower and slower and eventually stop working.

Askancy got a reaction from SJ77 in how can I stop the background processes?
    Hi Mark,
thankfully yes, otherwise my fee to pay for AWS S3 would have skyrocketed.... 😂
I used a drastic measure, clean the background actions thing table from the database. Definitely not the best choice to make, but luckily I had just changed php version to the server and cronjob hadn't started migrating data yet.
It would still be useful to have a button to stop actions with: Pause (useful when you have the server overloaded and one thing is not essential) and an Undo and Restore

They could introduce the system as the edit topic title... Holding down the forum name/description opens the form to edit it, and for the icon, a modal to load a new icon...
How they could also speed up a user's group change from public profile, user ban etc...

As Daniel said, that hash indicates that the user is not logged in. Check cookies if the cookie is saved correctly.
I did the integration years ago so I don't remember precisely, but you will see on the IP.Board constants.php file you have to indicate the Cookie Domain and the path, here is my configuration:
    \define( 'COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'MainDomin.ext' ); \define( 'COOKIE_PATH', '/' ); Because otherwise IP.Board cookies will be only for the subdomain

I for my project with Laravel 9 decided to use the user management of IP.Board, the user logs in from the forum and has full access also to the portal in Laravel, like commenting articles.
To make Laravel communicate with IP.Board just call the file init.php in AppServiceProvider.php
    class AppServiceProvider extends ServiceProvider { public function register() { // } public function boot() { $path = base_path('../forum.***.ext/'); require_once $path . 'init.php'; view()->composer('*', function ($view) { \IPS\Session\Front::i(); }); To get user data on a laravel blade I use:
{{\IPS\Member::loggedIn()->name}} I hope this can be a starting point to help you develop what you want.

I think naming names is unethical. IP.Board currently has only one licensed competitor and one open source...
However, you never understood this craze of constantly using tools like gtmetric pagespeed insight etc...
They are useful tools but in my opinion it is fair to consider them for what they are....

I'm not comfortable with the term 'cheapskates'. The self hosted version is not a budget product and neither is it inferior.

Very often lately IPS Spam errs and gets numerous spammers to sign up, but it errs really often...
Even now a spammer has registered on this forum who has been following me, the report button would have been really helpful to alert you of this unwelcome user
