  1. You can literally override any style defined by IPS as well as create your own in the custom.css. 🙂
  2. The question is if you want a managed service where you just want to USE the tool or if you’re wanting just “hosting”. If you don’t want to worry about things like if the platform meets the requirements of the software or if it is optimized to work with your setup… the Invision offering makes this a no brainer. If you want to have your fingers on the controls over things like PHP and MySQL or if you want to run scripts that are NOT IPB… you’re most likely better remaining self-hosted and just finding a provider that meets your needs. At the end of the day there is no right or wrong answer. It is simply what makes sense for you and your community. 🙂
  3. If you look at post history… Marc was starting the day off around 9 hours ago at 5am ET. 🙂
  4. FTP access is not provided. For cloud hosting this is not really needed. There is a file uploader in the ACP that can add files. You can also leverage an AWS S3 bucket and upload files to it. IPS does not provide email hosting services. I personally use Office 365 for email. You could use Google Workspace or any other email hosting service.
  5. In terms of performance, there are a number of performance enhancements that are being rolled out in the next few updates. Charles posted about them here: In addition, IPS offers hosting out of Europe now. So that should help quite a bit in terms of performance as well!
  6. You can’t in the base solution. However check out:
  7. Invision does not provide a CUSTOM domain for you to use. If you would like your own unique domain name, you'll need to buy it. If you don't have a custom domain, you'll get something like: k321847.invisionservice.com
  8. @Jon Erickson do you know if this will run on IPS CIC?
  9. My max upload size on this site is 48.83 MB. Are you at your storage limit and need to delete files to stay under the 50MB limit?
  10. I believe in the past he mentioned he was self hosted. If so… The limit for file uploads is determined by your php max file size value. Check with your hosting provider to see what their limit it. Secondarily check the size limits for each group in the ACP.
  11. Do you have some sort of firewall on your site/server that is possibly blocking it from reaching IPS servers?
  12. Since you’re cloud hosted, just drop a ticket in the client area and the staff can help. If you were self hosted, you would just edit the conf_global.php file I. Your root directory.
  13. Download the IPB files from your client area and manually upload them to your website. Then run yourdomain.com/admin/upgrade.
  14. Stupid question … does this happen in php 7.4? I’m wondering if this is a php 8/8.1 issue.
  15. You could have done it from the forum area as well. ACP > Community > Forums > Forums Click the arrow down icon and choose Permissions. (Remember... a container needs permissions too!) When you need to edit a group's permissions on a bunch of forums, the first way I mentioned will save you LOTS of time. 😄
  16. Have you looked at your member group permissions to say what each group can do in each forum? ACP > Members > Groups. Click on the Permissions button (the lock icon) for each group.
  17. Yes. If a one use block is removed, it can be readded again. It would return as showing in the block manager.
  18. Don't use the Text widget. It is meant for literally only text.... meaning no styling or links, etc. Instead use the WYSIWYG editor. It will give you the same editor that you use when making posts, which by default includes the ability to create links.
  19. Did you setup your .htaccess file? It might get missed as some systems treat that like a hidden file. You can search htaccess in the ACP and download/rename it.
  20. This is done through a custom theme. There is no default feature that adds a second nav menu. It would require custom theme and be something you would have to style the CSS and such yourself.
  21. For the specific message you posted, IPS said in a different thread that they increased the level of logging verbosity as a result of the change with PHP8 compatibility checking for 3rd party apps. It was mentioned this warning can be ignored and will be suppressed with a later update. They wanted more logging data initially for any potential troubleshooting. But that error is 100 percent unrelated to not being able to access admin CP. Have you tried disabling 3rd party apps? If you can’t access the ACP at all, use recovery mode to disable everything and then turn them on one by one till you find the culprit.
  22. I can tell you that I have a couple of sites that have old licenses that has not been renewed for years and it does not disable the site. I know this is not what is happening to you, but there is something unique in your setup SOMEWHERE that is triggering this.
  23. It’s not been updated since IPB 4.4. It’s most likely a stretch to say that it will be updated soon for 4.7 and PHP 8.
