  1. But that's the value of HSTS. When you clicked that HTTP link, it automatically is rewritten to HTTPS. I clicked that HTTP link you posted above and the BROWSER natively went forward to the site via HTTPS instead of HTTP.
  2. When you insert it without a protocol, it passes it to the browser without a protocol. Your browser by default sets to HTTP instead of HTTPS. If the destination site properly sets HSTS headers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_Strict_Transport_Security), the browser will transparently use HTTPS even if HTTP is specified. This is not an IPS configuration issue but instead a default way links are handled.
  3. Download the IPB files from your client area. The path to the badges were provided earlier above. You can read them by setting a badge in the ACP. ACP - Members - Achievements - Badges Anything that is missing … just upload it from the core software package found in your client area.
  4. This application is flagged as being compatible only with IPB 4.4. As a result, it won't show in the Marketplace ACP. It only shows resources that are flagged as compatible with the major version you're running (4.7 hopefully). You need to contact the author for assistance as they're the only ones that can ensure their application works with the current versions of IPB and set the flag that notes it as compatible with the current versions.
  5. If you can’t get into the ACP, check out: It shares how you can edit/create an entry in constants.php to work around this.
  6. I believe PHP 7.4 or higher is required while PHP 8 is highly recommended for the latest stable version. The latest beta I think requires 8. What version of PHP are you using?
  7. If you don’t know, this is a question for your hosting provider.
  8. I get it. I’m currently down in Ft Lauderdale next to the beach. 🙂
  9. Check your AM/PM above. It’s currently 12 hours and 15 min long. The end time should 1:15 if it’s 45 min. Even if you fix your AM/PM issue you only have a 15 min event with those settings. 😉
  10. Also... the 4.7.3 Beta 1 notes show: Removed some verbose logging from the PHP 8 scanner. So this extra logging detail won't be around in the next release it looks like.
  11. The scanner has a known issue. If one of your plugins has a ton of modules or you just have a ton of resources, it can choke up the scanner. This was said to be planned to fix in a future release.
  12. You can use Recovery Mode. Once you set your constants.php variable, logging into the ACP will disable all plugins/applications.
  13. When I browse your site, I only see an error when trying to open a topic. Are you sure you still have all of your 3rd party resources disabled? (Meaning both applications AND plugins?) Does it also happen when using a default theme?

A few more questions that I missed earlier: Now that the IPS team has had a good amount of time working through monthly release cycles, have you found it has helped the development process? Should we expect to continue seeing this cadence through 2023? The October release added support for OpenSearch 2.1. Is there any recommendations or preferences for using it versus ElasticSearch? There has been a lot of discussion around search context lately. The October release further changed search context behavior. Are you looking at additional changes going forward? Would it make sense to allow admin customization as to how the search function works?
  15. There is a note in the release notes for 4.7.3 that might fix this issue: Fixed an issue where editing a topic and setting a future publish date may not alter state. It might be worth installing a test copy of the beta somewhere else and trying it there to see if the problem still exists or if it's already fixed in the next version.
  16. That is CURRENTLY the most effective way. What you're suggesting is actually something I recently suggested as well in a reply to Matt when he was asking about how we used gallery.
  17. I think this may be addressed in 4.7.3. From the release notes: Fixed some grammar issues on the Marketplace pre-upgrade page.

Some questions: Can we disable location specific event promotion? (We don't have many events that occur in person.) For communities without a large number of events, the weekly/monthly views come across as bare. Any thoughts to keeping the event view (list of all upcoming events regardless of date)? How does IPS plan to rollout the changes for moving from display name to email address? Is there a way we could possibly setup a system that warns a user and allows them to use a display name for XX amount of times while telling them to use their email address (and reminder them what it is) going forward? As we wrap up 2022, what feature are you most proud of? Give us some hints to what you're thinking about for 2023! While I realize you may not be able to go into tons of detail, it would be cool to see what you're planning for the upcoming year. (Especially along the lines of how you tie the various modules such as Commerce or Pages or Gallery into the rest of the suite more!) Are there any major trends that you've seen develop over the last year? If so, how should we as community leaders respond to them? With Facebook promotion feature being removed, what ways does the IPS team recommend using to help promote communities? Are there any tips from the IPS team for how we as a community leader can make our sites stand out more?
  19. If this is super important for your community, you might look at having a 3rd party resource created that helps create redirects for you. While you can't rewrite IPB's club URLs, you could create some sort of redirect that points to the real URL. However you could run into scenarios where this could cause problems... a few that come to mind: A club is renamed. A club has a similar or same name as an existing club A club name has special characters So if you go this route, make sure to think through potential situations that might come up as a result of the project.
  20. No. It cannot be done. The number is what identifies the club to the platform. The name is actually ignored. For example: https://www.bi5on.com/circles/26-blahhhh The name is meant to help promote SEO.
  21. As noted previously several times… this resource has not been updated since 4.4 and is not being updated anymore. An alternative has already been noted.
  22. They created a domain specific php.ini for you. I’m glad they got you squared away!
  23. It’s not that he technically can’t disable them. It’s that disabling them would remove functionality that is important to their site. So it’s more of seriously not wanting to versus not actually being able to.
