My forum is about tractors which have model numbers like C-160, B-80, C-195 etc... Search doesn't like to search with the dash (hyphen). When I turn off FULLTEXT native search, I can search with the hyphen but it's slow and inaccurate with other searches. I loaded up Sphinx in hopes to get a great search but I am at a complete loss how to configure it so it will search for items like mentioned above. Can anyone help me so I can get search working for my data? I am using the standard IPB configuration generated file for the Sphinx configuration.

Hello ! :) I'm trying to understand how to configure my server. I also installed mysqltuner and tuning-primer. They tell me that I should increase tmp_table_size and/or max_heap_table_size : I keep on increasing it, but it doesn't change anything, so I believe this is not the solution... How can I prevent tables from being created on disk ? Thank you ! :) Here is my my.cnf ( my server is a Bi Xeon Quad 8x 2.33 with 16 Go DDR2 and 2x 1000 Go SAS) :

Server Hardware Hey everyone so i'm on my shiny new first dedicated server. We literally just moved over to it last week, and I was wondering based on my current configuration if I could get some tips on optimizing my IPboard Xen slice in terms of mysql + xcache. I'm not a pro, but I have a pretty good understanding of linux. My main interest is in making mysql even quicker than it currently is, our current execution times for IPboard are generally between 0.05 - 0.09 seconds. I'm Also game for xcache config recommendations as well, if anyone has them! Personal Dedicated Server: CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1230 sandybridge (8 cores w/HT) RAM: 8 GB DDR3 ECC Memory [will be …

Hello, Configured Memcached caching in IPB 3.1.2. Also installed on the server nginx. But the idea to tie nginx and Memcached, to nginx gave the result immediately, if it is in Memcached. If not - give the query to backend, there has to perform calculations and the result recorded in Memcached. Explored how IPB puts value in Memcached. The whole thing looks like this: memcache_set ($ this-> link, md5 ($ this-> identifier. $ key), $ value, MEMCACHE_COMPRESSED, intval ($ ttl)); Benefit from logging call this function, and obtained the following values: It's all in the IPB, now both looking at the matter nginx: nginx can handle parameters and $ ur…

I have my own server located in data center with 100Mbps in my country. O/S Linux ubuntu Webserver Apache What should I do to protect against DOS attacks? And what should I do to make my website load faster? It is pretty optimized and the loadspeed is good, though I would like to know what should I do with my webserver to load the websites faster (i know that lighttpd is faster but I need information about Apache so don't tell me to change webservers, please).

Current stats: Website average monthly unique hits: 20K Monthly Bandwidth usage: <500 Gig Pages served per month: 600K IPB average users online: 50 including guests IPB members: 2100 Has IPB, IPC, Gallery, and Blog My current quote for VPS (site5.com) is $53 a month for: CPU 2x 2.93 GHz, Memory 756 MB, 35GB disk space, 600 Gig bandwidth. This is about $20 a month more than I'd like to spend but I'm willing to go with it if I have to. Does anyone else know of any good reliable VPS service that could run an IPB like mine but be any cheaper?

Our board is running on a vps and because of various reasons it's easier to get a second vps than to upgrade to a higher plan or to move away to another provider. We were thinking of adding an extra webserver to ease the load on the current one. The current setup involves a vps running mysql (percona), varnish + nginx + php-fpm+memcached. A second vps would run just nginix+php with the first one routing requests via varnish. Is there any guide on how to do this properly with specifics related to ipb? It's a bit unclear to me how the uploads are handled . Would it be enough to mount over ssh the uploads folder on the second server? Any other settings that we should …

I've had Shorewall software firewall installed on my server to block Baidu, Yandex, and a couple of other aggressive (bandwidth hogging) search engines, but it is also blocking incoming RSS data. I know it is Shorewall because when I turn off the rules the feed data comes in. Anyone know what rule/s I need to apply to allow incoming RSS data? Cheers, Shaun :D

Out of the 10 years my site has been active, it has run some version of IP.Board for about 8 of them. Over the years, it has become a bit of a running joke among the people who have been around since the begining at how often the site goes down. We don't delete old inactive threads because they are often informational references for us. That means our database is large relative to the size of our user community. We've moved from server to server to try and cure our nearly constant database woes until finally landing on VPS.net where I could just throw more nodes at the server to make the problems go away. That ended last night. After yet another database crash, I knew…

Hello ! I'm still using the 0.9.8.1 sphinx version... My board is version 3.2.3 and I decided today to use the new sphinx.conf file created by IPB in the ACP, but when typing : I got this error : So, I believe my sphinx version should be upgraded since I read that sql_attr_bigint was added in Sphinx 0.9.9. But how can I achieve this ? Do I simply remove the existing files and directories and intall the latest version ? And which sphinx version should I choose so that it works well with IPB ? Thank you !
