everything I read leads me to believe you need to set a uri key but I cannot seem to find out if ipb uses one. am I on the wrong track here?

this is odd, when I (in ssh) manually enter mysqlcheck -u MY_USERNAME -p --auto-repair --optimize --all-databases and manually type password it works. when I enter password as part of the cmd I get this: mysqlcheck -u MY_USERNAME -p MY_PASSWORD --auto-repair --optimize --all-databases You should give only options, no arguments at all, with option --all-databases. Please see mysqlcheck --help for more information. so why is it ok when manually typing password but not when password is part of the cmd?

I am running the most current version of the IPB software, and wondered if anyone has had experience with posts being generated multiple times. This is putting quiet a bit of stress on the server. Any ideas would be most appreciated. Kind regard, Karen

Hi, I have a problem with my IPBoard, today I recieved atacks on my server in the following directory: /forum/index.php?app=members&module=online&sort_order=desc This causes excessive consumption of server resources, so my server is now offline until I solve the problem in this directory. What can I do about it? Pleasee, help me :cry:

Perhaps my concerns are unfounded from lack of computer understanding. In any case, please help me understand. I'm an IPS hosted client on a Legacy package. My board is a small poetry enthusiast community with 18,607 posts. I have 80 members, out of which maybe 30 have posted at all some time in the past, and maybe 10 are regularly active (i.e. posting or lurking daily or weekly). The rest are inactive. My Legacy package includes 200MB of disk space usage. I've been Googling for hours now and can't seem to find anything close to a solution for the problem I'm having... So, I've got my server setup with Postfix / Dovecot. Postfix is set up to auth SASL via Dovecot... Whenever I try Outlook, or Thunderbird, from my PC, I can authenticate to both POP3 and/or IMAP, but Outlook refuses to send a test e-mail through postfix's SMTP... So I tried to set up everything on my gmail account the same way and it works... Gmail's web client can successfully auth with both POP3 and SMTP. Hello guys i'm right now on a shared host package and im thinking moving to a VPS (knownhost) and adding maxcdn for better loading times, what you think? will maxcdn work out well? i do worry cause they only provide one pullzone, you will have to purchase another one if u need more :(

Hi - Last two days I ran in to the max_connections limited set in my.cnf. Only because of this did I learn about this setting and make some adjustments. The value was set at 150 and I bumped it to 500. However, I have a question regarding this number: I have google analytics installed so I watched the traffic in real-time (ie. not using the 15 minute IPB online user count, but the real online user count). Both times that I ran into the max_connections, I only had around 80 users on my site. In the J2EE world, we normally use a connection pool. Hey there, So I'm moving to a new server and i'm in the middle of moving an IPB site over, howerver some areas such as trying to view a members profile or database diagnostics result in a blank page with no error. I'm assuming this has to be something with my server configuration so I thought I'd see if you could help me. Hey guys. Is it possible to set IP.Board 2.3.6 up on my home server so I can get some things from my Admin CP on my 2.3.6 SQL backup? I don't remember the MySQL and PHP versions 2.3.x required and am stuck.. :( All I need is just the MySQL and PHP version that 2.3 ran on as an installation on my PC to install 2.3.6, restore the backups and then get what I need from some topics and the ACP.. I just started using marchers wordpress bridge on my site and, xml-rpc was required to utilise this fully, on asking my hosting they said my php version would need upgrading to do this. After its been upgraded my site feels slow to respond and slugglish. I use xcache also and had modiifed php.ini and my.cnf files.. Would these need to be changed also or would they have altered? Just trying to get to the bottom of the slower than normal response from the site.. Thanks

Hi, I really need some help. My IPB installation has outgrown the shared hosting environment, to the point where even as webmaster I cringe when I use the forum because it's so slow and sluggish. Therefore, I'm thinking about moving up to VPS. 1) Do you think these specifications are appropriate? My website gets about 1000 unique visitors a month, 150K visits, 20 M hits, and 500 GB bandwidth. (My website also includes a couple of popular galleries powered by Coppermine Photo Galleries, which is why the bandwidth usage is high). I know a handful of you are running on Windows Servers, with IIS and MySQL on the same box and that it runs happily with large IPB installations. Hello, I complained about the slowness on my server with my hosting provider and they told me this: "I have checked the server and could see that your MySQL is pretty busy all the time by writing/removing data in ibf_reputation_cache." Just for curiosity, I disabled the reputation system and the forum became fast again. Reputation system is that heavy or this is just a coincidence or someone is abusing the system ? Thank you

First, I used easy logo changer to upload a new logo. The new file uploaded fine, and the 'logo_img' replacement was properly set, but I couldn't get the new logo to display on the site. The original logo persists. Then, I edited the replacement macro directly, trying different settings to several files. I could not get the original file to change. Are replacements broken? Are they obsolete? This is a brand new installation and this feature seems to not work at all.

Hi All, So, several times over the past few weeks I have been hit by something, once or twice it was bots at inopportune times, other times like tonight it looked like something out of Russia. It doesn't seem to be a proper DDOS attack, but there are a lot of connections. Add that to the 700 - 800 users on the boards and I run out of PHP processes really quickly. On my current AWS EC2 instance (High Mem, XL - 33GB mem, 15 cores) I can maintain 200 connections before it goes to hell. I've played with config and hammered the server using loader.io. Tried Varnish in front of NGINX, tried going back to Apache, but I can't get beyond 200 connections. Note this…

Recently moved from shared hosting to a VPS The VPS is running lighttpd, PHP (previously 5.4.x but I just downgraded it to 5.3.3.7) and MySQL 5.5 Everything is working fine after changing the DB login details, etc.. and restoring the backup from the old server. However, when enabling/disabling/making any add-on modifications, I just get a plain white screen. I have checked the error logs, and nothing shows up. I also get the blank page when selecting recache apps. Enabling/disabling hooks is fine though. What could be causing this?
